Open Carry Texas President C.J. Grisham was interviewed by The Daily Show’s Jason Jones and they discussed the state’s gun laws and open carry. The Daily Show travelled to Texas just before the midterm elections and this show should be hilarious considering Jones’ past interviews.

I don’t think Open Carry Texas thought this out before agreeing to the interview. Here’s C.J. being interviewed by Jones, while standing on a box.

Size matters in Texas.

[su_center_ad]The segment should be aired during the week of Oct. 17th, according to OCT’s Facebook page.

“It was a good interview,” C.J. reveals on his group’s Facebook post. “It will show we are human and can have a sense of humor. I stayed away from extremist comments. My winning line was, “being armed while eating a piece of pizza gives me a peace of mind I won’t be a victim.”

Yes, because there’s nothing extreme about eating pizza while fully armed.

Even Open Carry supporters on the group’s page think the interview was a godawful idea.

Woodrow writes, “Yeah hes going make us look like nuts.” [sic]. It wouldn’t be hard to do. woodrow

Michael writes, “They will make you look like a joke. This was a bad move.”

Derek writes, “I’d be careful with Stewart. He isn’t in OCT’s corner and would like nothing more than to marginalize OCT as the “gun nuts” he thinks we all are!”

Luis writes, “This can’t be good.”

“[B]y and large, we still don’t do recorded interviews,” Grisham assures his supporters. “The few I do, however, I make clear they get one shot to be unbiased in their reporting.” [sic]

Right! I’m sure it will be totally “unbiased.” Has he ever seen The Daily Show? Stewart has been mocking the hell out of Republicans for decades and he’s earned 19 Emmys by ridiculing them.

Jason Jones will shred Grisham. If his “winning line” is “being armed while eating a piece of pizza gives me a peace of mind I won’t be a victim,” then he should prepare for the worst night of his life: the night this show is aired. Big thanks to OCT for admitting that your group’s comments are “extreme” but we already knew that.
I’ll just drop this right here.

Big thanks to my friend out there for the link. You rock. [su_csky_ad]

“Here’s C.J. being interviewed by Jones, while standing on a box.” Standing on a box?? WTF??!! Standing on a box?? Because he doesn’t have any manhood issues at all, whatsoever, no siree, none, nope, not him.

He does get credit for wearing a pretend military hat and not his usual hipster cowboy one.

    • Carla Akins October 12th, 2014 at 6:31 pm

I’m sorry, no credit for the hat because I just can’t get past the box thing.

      • tiredoftea October 12th, 2014 at 6:46 pm

OK, I can go with that. No credit.

      • whatthe46 October 12th, 2014 at 6:53 pm

his height isn’t all that’s come up short. the box the guns. oh goodness.

        • Carla Akins October 12th, 2014 at 7:01 pm

I know! It’s like there’s too much to put into words.

      • annaaurora October 13th, 2014 at 12:39 pm

Carla I can’t either. Because he was either dumb enough to let them talk him into getting on the box or he’s that grandiose. Either way we WIN! Oh I need a tickle, smooch, AC/DC Thunderstruck! Martini!

    • MindlessHack October 29th, 2014 at 8:47 am

Because the producer asked him to stand on a box to even out the height differences so that both people are in frame. Cute comment, but you are truly out of touch!

“being armed while eating a piece of pizza gives me a peace of mind I won’t be a victim.” — Damned, I didn’t know anybody could be scared of a piece of pizza fighting back that they would need a gun.

This is going to be good. I think I am going to need extra popcorn.

  3. Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2014 at 6:13 pm

All he has to do is let them talk, they will make themselves look like idiots. They have lots of practice.

    • tiredoftea October 12th, 2014 at 6:48 pm

What’s that thing about when your adversary keeps making mistakes, just stay out of his way?

    Classic Daily Show~!!

  5. StoneyCurtisll October 12th, 2014 at 6:22 pm

Anyone that thinks they need to be armed while enjoying the simple act of eating at a pizzeria needs to have their head examined.

    • searambler October 12th, 2014 at 10:05 pm

Or find a different pizza place…..

    • MindlessHack October 29th, 2014 at 8:45 am

That’s a really great plan of yours until someone comes in to rob the place with a gun as happens thousands of times each year in this country. http://www.khou.com/story/news/crime/2014/10/14/armed-robbers-target-pasadena-area-cicis-pizza-locations/17274179/

        Paranoia is a mental/personality disorder..

It is a thought process heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion.
If you post your zip code I can send you links to the nearest mental health care professionals in your area.

Recommend you send the information to the mother of 22-year old Gordon Schaffer, the Papa John’s store manager that was shot and killed in a robbery in Columbus, TN 2 weeks ago

          • StoneyCurtisll November 1st, 2014 at 3:12 pm

Someone else money is never a good reason to die for..
Perhaps if you were there with your weapon you could have stopped it, or possibly been killed yourself..
What type of imaginary heroics are you willing to die/kill for?

          • MindlessHack November 2nd, 2014 at 8:03 am

In that specific case, the manager did everything the robber asked and did not resist but was still murdered. The point of all this is that it should not be the government’s decision how and when we will defend ourselves and our family. That should be a personal decision. When seconds count, the police are minutes away!

          • StoneyCurtisll November 2nd, 2014 at 8:53 am

Too bad you and your firearm were not there to prevent this unfortunate and rare occurrence..
I’m sure pulling a gun on a robber who doesn’t care if he murders a cooperative victim, would have no problem shooting at you or your family members…
            Good luck playing the hero..

          • MindlessHack November 2nd, 2014 at 9:07 am

If the choice is to fight back or die, then I will choose to fight every time.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 2nd, 2014 at 9:24 am

Fight back or die are not the only options..
If some one is desperate enough to pull a gun on me..
They can have my money. they can have my car..
In the real world, the bad guy already has the gun pointed at you, What chance do you think you can draw yours and shoot the bad guy before he can pull the trigger 2 or 3 times..

          • MindlessHack November 2nd, 2014 at 10:00 am

Of course there are situations that can’t be defended, but many are. If you see someone entering your store with a gun, you do have more options. And, those shop owners (or citizens) who ‘open carry’ are rarely robbed because even thugs understand that their odds of survival are better if they attack an unarmed person. The point is this – it’ all about choice. You choose your path, and I’ll choose mine. But, the government should not be involved in how I choose to defend myself of my family.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 2nd, 2014 at 10:31 am

As a gun owner..(3 of them) I understand your point..
I am not a ‘ban all guns’ person..
And I do agree with you on ” You choose your path, and I’ll choose mine”..
My guns collect dust in the closet, and I dont live in fear of “thugs”..

And no one is trying to take your right to carry (open or concealed) away..
Good luck to you and may the gods bless you and your family..

  7. Suzanne McFly October 12th, 2014 at 7:09 pm

Seems like Grisham believes he is smarter than Jones, this will be good.

  8. forpeace October 12th, 2014 at 7:23 pm

The Open Carry Texas President C.J. Grisham calling others extremists is just as Osama Bin Laden calling others terrorists.

Why is he standing on a box?

    • majii October 12th, 2014 at 7:28 pm

He wants to appear to be taller and more formidable than he really is, or because he’s vain and self-centered?

I think it’s all of the above.

      • Valerie Finnigan October 15th, 2014 at 11:49 pm

Or it’s because the camera person requested it?

    • whatthe46 October 12th, 2014 at 7:33 pm

      think about it… lol

      • Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2014 at 7:44 pm

The box has his ego inside. He’s trying to keep it under control.

        • whatthe46 October 12th, 2014 at 8:28 pm

          that’s a good one.

    • annaaurora October 13th, 2014 at 12:34 pm

Cause he’s short and fat like me. Except I don’t need a box a to hawk.

      • Valerie Finnigan October 15th, 2014 at 11:49 pm

You’d probably need to stand on a box if someone were trying to film Jason Jones interviewing you.

    • Roctuna October 13th, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Box, gun, am I sensing a pattern of poor self-image and the need to overcompensate?

    • Valerie Finnigan October 15th, 2014 at 11:48 pm

Because camera people have trouble keeping short and tall people in the same frame, otherwise.

  9. majii October 12th, 2014 at 7:26 pm

Grisham:”My winning line was, “”being armed while eating a piece of pizza gives me a peace of mind I won’t be a victim.””

Someone needs to remind him that the two officers who were killed while eating lunch in Las Vegas earlier this year were armed, too.

He’s not one who seems to have well-developed critical thinking skills, is he?

    • searambler October 12th, 2014 at 10:04 pm

      But…he’s standing on a box!

    • Woodrow October 12th, 2014 at 11:40 pm

Right. Lets disarm the police then.

      • whatthe46 October 13th, 2014 at 12:04 am

        over your head eh?

        • Woodrow October 13th, 2014 at 2:56 am

Just asking you guys to be consistent.

          • rg9rts October 13th, 2014 at 5:33 am

You packin at Burger King too?

  10. searambler October 12th, 2014 at 10:09 pm

So I’m sensing that the Texas OCT people are terrified of their fellow Texans, and really super paranoid about eating at their local pizzerias. Don’t they have Domino’s down there? They deliver. Or better yet, get Digiorno’s Pizza. Supposed to be just like the real thing…

    • whatthe46 October 12th, 2014 at 11:16 pm

they’d still answer the door strapped. regardless of the huge sign sitting on top of the delivery car, along with the guy wearing a uniform and hat. all of which could be seen from the peep hole. lol. some paranoid fools.

  11. Woodrow October 12th, 2014 at 11:39 pm

Whoa, I was mentioned in this article!

    • Anomaly 100 October 13th, 2014 at 12:43 pm

      And I agreed with you!

  12. rg9rts October 13th, 2014 at 5:30 am

Being a loon gave him his 15 seconds of fame

  13. searambler October 13th, 2014 at 10:42 am

It would be so much cheaper for these guys to simply wear a sign around their necks that says “Yes. I have four inches”…..

    • Valerie Finnigan October 15th, 2014 at 11:47 pm

You know, women open carry, too.

      • searambler October 16th, 2014 at 9:16 am

        Yeah. Why?

  14. annaaurora October 13th, 2014 at 12:02 pm

Oh my GOD in HEAVEN and SATAN in HELL how I love thee! I can’t wait to see this asshole ripped by Jon who I believe is the second coming of Jesus.

  15. Roctuna October 13th, 2014 at 1:51 pm

I am so looking forward to TDS this week!

  16. Stu Pedasso October 15th, 2014 at 10:14 am

If you can’t have “peace of mind” eating pizza without being armed, you don’t need a gun — you need psychiatric help and medication. And maybe one of those Swedish vacuum pumps.

  17. Valerie Finnigan October 15th, 2014 at 11:46 pm

Regarding standing on a box, size matters much more to the camera person trying to get Jason Jones and CJ Grisham- a guy who can take a short joke- in the same frame.

  18. MindlessHack October 29th, 2014 at 8:41 am

Because if you are John Stewart, Bill Maher, Howard Stern, or any other celebrity in NYC, you can get a concealed carry permit, but God forbid if you are a single mother whose estranged husband is threatening you and don’t have a limo to drive you home after work at night, then you are SOL! Why are their lives more important than ours?
