10-Year-Old Charged With Beating 90-Year-Old Woman To Death
State police charged a 10-year-old Pennsylvania boy with criminal homicide on Monday. You read that right.
Troopers told WNEP that the child’s mother alerted police as to what her son had done.
[su_center_ad]Authorities interviewed the child who then described what happened on Saturday.
WNEP reports:
According to police, 10-year-old Tristen Kurilla of Damascus Township was visiting his grandfather on Saturday at his home.
Investigators said Kurilla went into the room of Helen Novak, 90,and after some kind of dispute, Kurilla punched Novak multiple times in the throat.
The boy’s grandfather was a caretaker for Novak, according to police.
According to an affidavit, Kurilla told police Novak yelled at him and he got mad, put a cane around her throat, and punched her numerous times.
An autopsy was performed on Novak on Monday, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Kurilla is currently being held at the Wayne County Correctional Facility. No bail has been set and the child will be charged as an adult.

i don’t agree with the no bail and i don’t agree with the charge of adult. what’s also heartbreaking is that this woman lived to be 90 y/o only to have died a horrible death at the hands of a CHILD.

Hard to agree on treating a 10 year old as an adult; however, if he’s treated as a juvie, he’ll probably be back on the streets at 21 at the latest. That, too, is a scary thought.

I hate to say it but there are some elderly people who are so mean and nasty that I can see some of them pushing someone over the edge. Some of them get pleasure of making it hell for others. That does not mean the kid should not be locked up and serve time but I am not willing to automatically assume he is a born killer..

When you reach the age of 90, you get to be cranky. There are people of all ages, who get pleasure out to hurting others, that doesn’t give anyone the right to abuse them when they are weak. I hope when you reach a ripe old age, your caregivers treat you with respect, something this child does not have.

At some point we will know a lot more about this boy and how
unstable he may or may not have been, and how loving or cruel she may have been. Right now no one is taking time to learn before judging him. Yes, some elderly people get cranky, but just as some children are evil there are some elderly who are evil as well and use their age as an excuse to hurt people. I knew one who as he got into his 80’s got great
pleasure in pushing clerks and others to the point they would be on the edge of breaking down in tears. Who knows how far he could have pushed an unstable or extreme insecure child? So lets get all the facts before condeming this child to life in prison.

A 10 year old killed a 90 year old by beating her to death, Repeatedly punching her in the throat. That’s rage. If the 90 year old women was abusive to the boy, he could have just push her down and ran. If this child first response is violence, he clearly has issues that will follow him into adulthood, compound that with time in the prison system, his faith is sealed.
