Conservative columnist and former Reagan administration aide Douglas MacKinnon is out with a new book calling for Southern states to secede again, and this time, he has a nifty new name for his vision of a Conservative utopia: “Reagan”.

[su_center_ad]On Janet Mefferd’s show, he spoke about his book, “The Secessionist States of America: The Blueprint for Creating a Traditional Values Country…Now,” and called for a movement of states, starting with South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, to establish a new country, Right Wing Watch reports.

Texas, MacKinnon explained, was not included in his secessionist blueprint because “there have been a number of incursions into Texas and other places from some of the folks in Mexico.”

He added that the South had “seceded legally” and “peacefully” during the Civil War, but greedy Northerners like President Lincoln “waged an illegal war that was in fact not declared against the South after the South basically did what we’re talking about in this book now in terms of peacefully, legally and constitutionally leaving the union.”

MacKinnon thinks the South will rise again and he wants to name it “Reagan,” an idea which should go over as well as ReaganBook, the Conservative alternative to Facebook which didn’t even last 24 hours.

Gay rights was specifically pointed out as a reason MacKinnon wanted Southern states to create their new country, thus leaving America, like any good patriot would do.

MacKinnon called the Civil War,“The War Between The States,” and said that Religious Right activists should endorse the secessionist movement as a way to “protect our faith.”

In his column, he points to what he calls an “unhinged bias against the Christian faith.” The persecuted man does not mention what he’ll do with the gay community living in the South, or minorities, or all of those delicious federal dollars afforded to Southern States.

Reagan, it’s a whole ‘nother country:

If the South tries to rise again, we’ll just burn it to the ground again. [su_csky_ad]

  1. R.J. Carter October 22nd, 2014 at 2:54 pm

Why is it that every time the South wants to secede, it’s not about federal policies or crippling regulations, but about what they don’t want to accept as a human being?

    • arc99 October 22nd, 2014 at 2:57 pm

I want to know why it is that they never talk about secession after a tornado hits and they need federal assistance funded by tax dollars from California and New York among other large very blue states.

  2. Larry Schmitt October 22nd, 2014 at 2:54 pm

I have a better idea, MacKinnon. Why don’t you personally secede from the Union? Just get the f*** out, and go to Russia. I hear they’re more in line with your feelings when it comes to gay people. But you better watch out. They might find out what you like to do in private, and decide you’re undesirable too.

  3. tiredoftea October 22nd, 2014 at 3:06 pm

So, because it went soooo well the last time, he thinks the South should try it again??!!??
And, there already are plenty of “Family Values” countries; Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan all come to mind. What’s wrong with them, aren’t his christian family values the same as muslim ones?

  4. mrbigstuff October 22nd, 2014 at 3:11 pm

Being black and from the south I say let them ,Finally Allen West,Clarence Thomas,Alan Keyes,Herman Cain and a few others will find out what it means to be a house negro,When they get what they deserve in a racist country.I’ll make a bet interacial marriage will be the first to go,Sorry uncle Thomas.

      You said it.

  5. Jake October 22nd, 2014 at 3:11 pm

i would love for the Southern States to secede from the Union – then us Northerners would not have to support those sponging grifter Red States with our tax dollars.

    • Foundryman October 22nd, 2014 at 5:11 pm

It would be one way to get Penn. Ohio, Mich and Wis back to blue…I vote yes..

      • Jake October 22nd, 2014 at 5:17 pm

You know something got hang with this Secede nonsense – we need a “Dump the South” movement

  6. forpeace October 22nd, 2014 at 3:14 pm

I am totally against the any state that wants to secede, but the way things are going, I’m getting to the point that enough already! Just let these ignorant un-American anarchists who are still living in the 1861-1865 American Civil War era to secede, they can even keep their Confederate flag, and see how long they can survive without financial help from the federal government.

These people need to wake up, and stop living in an alternative reality, it’s about time they come back to the real world and start living in 21st Century.

There is another seceding news in Florida:

Officials want South Florida to break off into its own state. Officials in the City of South Miami have passed a resolution in favor of splitting the state in half so South Florida would become the 51st state. Vice Mayor Walter Harris proposed the resolution and it passed with a 3-2 vote at the city commission meeting on Oct. 7.

    • R.J. Carter October 22nd, 2014 at 3:17 pm

I don’t really mind it if a part of a state wants to secede from the state and form it’s own. There’s plenty of historical precedent for that.

If it succeeds, I’d like to encourage Cook County to consider it as an option.

      • Larry Schmitt October 22nd, 2014 at 3:21 pm

But I think it would require the approval of a majority of the other states. Northern California used to threaten to break away and form their own state.

        • forpeace October 22nd, 2014 at 3:40 pm

Yes, that was called “Six Californias” and was petition filed by Timothy Cook “Tim” Draper from Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) which is a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California with affiliate offices in more than 30 cities around the world and over $7 billion in capital commitments.

One of the most important part of his plan was getting more Republican representation in California because splitting California would have also changed the make up of both Congress and the Electoral College.

But, the voters as they would not necessarily wish to break up the state with the cost of setting up six new state governments and five new capitals, and Congress as they may not want five more states in the mix.

On July 14, Draper announced that the proposal received 1.3 million signatures, enough to qualify for the ballot, and began submitting them to elections officials. On September 12, 2014, it was announced that based on random sampling of the submitted signatures, only an estimated 752,685 signatures were valid, which was insufficient not only to qualify the initiative for the ballot, but also to trigger a complete verification of all submitted signatures.

Only happened twice…Maine and West Virginia…one because of the civil war….You would need a constitutional amendment to do it now….fat chance pal

        • R.J. Carter October 22nd, 2014 at 3:53 pm

And at least one time in reverse: State of Franklin.

    • Rusty Shackleford October 22nd, 2014 at 3:54 pm

Hey, this anarchist resents having these statist racists conflated with his ideology!

    • androgyne anode October 23rd, 2014 at 2:01 am

      Those people are not anarchists.

Racism is antithetical to anarchism and anarchism doesn’t mean small government, or simply secession – it means no government.

Anarchism is the most egalitarian of all political models. Nothing else even comes close. The whole point of it is to abolish hierarchical power structures.

Like many things that are deeply, radically forward thinking, anarchism has been rebranded as “evil” so that it wouldn’t be tried – particularly after it was working in Spain.

Exactly! It’s Official: White Folks in Red States are the Biggest Food Stamp ‘Moochers’ in the Country! Statistics reveal that the city holding the most beneficiaries of the SNAP program (a favorite target of the GOP) is 99.22% white and 95% Republican. Owsley County, Kentucky earns the lowest median household income in the country, but they are the most prolific government-takers in U.S. existence http://aattp.org/ts-official-white-folks-in-red-states-are-the-biggest-food-stamp-moochers-in-the-country/

Wanting to name a country after a B movie actor who raised the debt ceiling 11 times, taxes on the middle class 7 times and tripled the national debt. I’m fairly certain that if these cretins had half a brain they’d take it out and play with it.

    • Larry Schmitt October 22nd, 2014 at 4:39 pm

They obviously didn’t spend those higher taxes on edumacation.

If all these states secede together, Texas can lead the way, and it is easier to call it:

          Teapublic of Texagistan.

They can elect the convicted felon Rick Perry as the king.

      • Tommy6860 October 22nd, 2014 at 5:16 pm

If this were to actually happen, trust me, it would not be a republic.

        • forpeace October 22nd, 2014 at 5:18 pm

          How about “Teapublic of Reaganistan?”

How about “The Welfare States of America”

      • Foundryman October 22nd, 2014 at 5:24 pm

For a group trying to destroy and divide America, they’ll never want that name.

        • Jake October 22nd, 2014 at 5:35 pm

For a group who rely so heavily on our hard-earned tax-dollars they deserve that name.

    • whatthe46 October 22nd, 2014 at 5:44 pm

there’s an island somewhere waiting to be colonized, they can move there.

  13. forpeace October 22nd, 2014 at 5:26 pm

They can secede together, under one condition, they have to take Alaska with them.

They can use Half Governor’s Alaskan Hillbillies family as their Army because they are so good in getting involved in a violent fights.

    Texas can lead the way.

They can call their new country: “Teapublic of Texagistan.”

They can even keep the convicted felon Rick Perry as their king.

  16. Suzanne McFly October 22nd, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Woo hoo, go ahead, all us liberals will live up north and don’t you cry about lack of food or medicine, put on your big people panties and figure out how to do for yourself. I say we have a huge celebration with all the money we save cause we no longer will have to bail them out.

    • Larry Schmitt October 22nd, 2014 at 6:16 pm

And of course all those big military bases with all their jobs and billions of dollars into the economy will have to be moved back to the US. Who’s gonna pay all that unemployment? Their first official act will be to apply for a loan from the World Bank and IMF. Which will have to be forgiven, because they will default.

      • Khary A October 22nd, 2014 at 6:18 pm

Those idiots are under the assumption that the soldiers will just stay and fight for them and everything. They really have no idea how it all works do they?

    • straightawaykid February 20th, 2015 at 6:57 pm

That is correct, we need another hero like General Sherman to burn another path through the confederates that they still remember.

So, with all the republican presidents, they thought Ronald “Bonzo Goes to College” Reagan was the most worthy? If he’s the best they have, I’d hate to see the worst.

    • Larry Schmitt October 23rd, 2014 at 4:47 pm

It’s a close race with the decider.

  21. Dwendt44 October 24th, 2014 at 12:42 am

After reading up on this, it seems that the southern portion of Florida is rather liberal and the northern part is old school southern. A large part of the dispute is that the state government is rather right wing and ignores the needs of the southern portion on such issues as revenue sharing and flooding, to name two.

  22. grant February 20th, 2015 at 12:32 pm

Someone assumes that the south will lose this time.
