[su_right_ad]Alaska Congressman Don Young says the government is responsible for suicides because it gives people stuff and takes away their self-worth. According to the Alaska Dispatch:

Young on Wednesday wasn’t backing down from statements he made Tuesday at Wasilla High School that suicide shows a lack of support from friends and family…

A Wasilla High School student committed suicide last week.

Asked about the “lack of support” comment, Young expanded on it and added that suicide in Alaska didn’t exist before “government largesse” gave residents an entitlement mentality, according to an audio recording of his senior center appearance.

He also criticized school administrators for supporting students who disrespected him and said he refused to “coddle” them.

The audio was provided to Alaska Dispatch News by the campaign office of Forrest Dunbar, Young’s Democratic rival for his 22nd term.

The 81-year-old Young is the longest-serving Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, with a reputation for ornery behavior and brash language.[su_csky_ad]

    The GOP. Advocates for the department of who marries whom and the department of transvaginal ultrasound want to once again lecture us about the evils of big government.

    I think it’s time for the longest serving republican in the house to be put out to pasture. And speaking of government largesse, how’re those healthcare bennies going for you, Mr. Young?

    As usual, the truth is exactly the opposite of the right wing rhetoric;

    Funny how he has no problem criticizing others when he has been on the government dole for decades.

      Considering how much work congressmen actually get done, any pay they get would have to be considered a handout. In other words, welfare.

      • Suzanne McFly October 23rd, 2014 at 11:53 am

        Exactly, but their welfare check is a lot higher than any I have ever seen.
