A North Carolina woman who was arrested during a raid on a downtown Raleigh nightclub faces additional charges after authorities at the Wake County Detention Center found a gun in her hair weave after her arrest.

32-year-old Tiffanie Lizette Bass was charged on Wednesday with misdemeanor offenses of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting a public officer.

[su_center_ad]WRAL reports:

According to an arrest warrant, Bass was being processed at the jail when it was discovered she had a .38-caliber handgun.

It was unclear why the gun wasn’t found before Bass arrived at the jail.

Laura Hourigan, a spokeswoman for the Raleigh Police Department, said the department is looking at whether proper procedures were followed when Bass was arrested and whether its policy on searches needs to be evaluated.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison, who oversees the jail, declined to comment on the arrest but said deputies noticed Bass walking out of a bathroom with her head leaning to one side.

Deputies searched her and found the gun before she ever made it to the jail’s processing center.

She was initially arrested Tuesday during a raid of Club Rumors, at 416 W. South St., by the Alcohol Law Enforcement branch of the State Bureau of Investigation.

Raleigh police officers, Hourigan said, were assisting in the case, in which Bass was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm. She was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for a worthless check violation.

How does that work exactly? Did she have a holster all up in there, too? When the cops found the gun, was she all, “How’d that get there?” Was it just a tiny gun or a really big weave? Most importantly, how is this a misdemeanor offense?  [su_csky_ad]

Hey, if she’s got a CCP, she can tuck that gun wherever she safely wants to do so. (But, when you’re arrested, you need to tell the cops they missed your weapon when they bring you in, no matter what your melanin levels.)

I have one problem with the headline, ‘Gun Found In North Carolina Inmate’s Hair Weave’…
The woman was being processed, “booked” into jail.
    She wasn’t yet an “inmate”..
Other than that, I wonder how the heck she could have a .38 in her weave..
Even a snub nose isn’t light in weight.

When I attended the academy I was directed to search a rather shapely attractive Instructor. When I was done she directed me to face the class. When my back was turned she retrieved a 25 caliber raven pistol tucked under her bra strap below the arm pit, a razor from the fold of her collar and a switchblade from between her breasts. Later on she told me that she detected a “aw shucks ma’am” shy streak in my persona, and that’s why she picked me out for the demonstration.
Searching females for weapons was for me a very uncomfortable task.
