[su_right_ad]Two burly Homeland Security men walked into a Kansas City lingerie shop and seized panties with the initials KC on them.

Danielle Meister, co-owner of Birdies Panties shop, said the undercover agents seized the lingerie, claiming the store violated copyright laws by selling underwear with “Take the Crown” and “KC” printed across the rear. Meister and her business partner, Peregrine Honig, said they wanted to celebrate the success of their hometown team — which on Wednesday night beat the San Francisco Giants to tie the World Series at one game apiece — by designing the panties.

“We printed these underpants because our team is doing well after so many years and we were excited,” Meister told FoxNews.com Thursday. “When we started posting them on social media, we were amazed at how many people wanted them.”…

“It all came crashing down on Tuesday when Homeland Security showed up and said we were committing a crime of copyright infringement,” Meister said. “My initial response was fear. How often does Homeland Security show up to your panty shop?”…

Asked why counterfeit merchandise raids like this are handled by ICE, [ICE spokesman Shawn] Neudauer explained that U.S. Customs investigators were placed within ICE when the Department of Homeland Security was formed in 2003. Those investigators have jurisdiction over hundreds of federal statutes, mostly involving customs-related issues. ICE also runs an intellectual property rights coordination center.Asked why counterfeit merchandise raids like this are handled by ICE, Neudauer explained that U.S. Customs investigators were placed within ICE when the Department of Homeland Security was formed in 2003. They truly thought it was okay, as they were hand painted and not identical. One interviewer asked if they knew who had ratted them out – no one, the KC Star did an article on them.

Well, of course, I fully support local businesses as supporting the Royals.

Friend of mine bought a shirt off a street vendor with a Dodgers logo on the front and BEAT THE GIANT [sic] in block letters on the back, which makes me laugh. O man, I gotta get me one!

apparently this person didn’t see game one in the world series ?

    • ChrisVosburg October 24th, 2014 at 6:34 pm

Hey, be nice. The Royals came back in game two and will take on the Giants for game three tonight in San Francisco (5 PM PT). Good luck to both.

And at least the Royals made it all the way to the World Series (first time since 1985), unlike my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, the bums. Oh well, Wait Till Next Year!

Usually I say “when you’re out of Dodgers, you’re out of ChrisV,” but I gotta admit, the Giants and Royals are putting on a hell of a show.

What business is it of Homeland Security to enforce copyright laws? They are out of their jurisdiction. Time for a lawsuit.

    • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2014 at 7:30 pm

The story explained that since the Customs Service (ICE) is now under DHS, it’s the jurisdiction of any of the agents of DHS.

      • Republicans_are_Evil October 24th, 2014 at 7:36 pm

You are right. I didn’t read that far down.

I think the big deal was that a local artist, Peregrine Honig,(https://www.google.com/search?q=Perrigan+howening&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=fflb#rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&q=Peregrine+honig&spell=1)

Nice of them to detour from their mosque surveillance duties to protect the MLB monopoly, err, intellectual property.
