[su_right_ad]In response to Chris Christie saying he’s tired of hearing about the minimum wage, Chris Wallace asked him if the issue warranted him to be so cavalier.

“Not being cavalier at all,” Christie replied. “I’m saying it exactly as I see it. What we need to do in this country is not have debate over a higher minimum wage. We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country. If that somehow doesn’t comport with what people in the political elite want, well, I’m sorry…

“There’s just not income inequality in this country,” Christie said. “The bigger problem is opportunity inequality. And that’s what mothers and fathers are sitting around kitchen tables talking about wanting for their children’s future. And that’s exactly what I was saying at the Chamber of Commerce. And I don’t back off from those comments one inch.”

Chris Christie just doesn’t understand that more money flowing in the economy makes the economy better. Pay the people that make the least more and the money flows through the economy faster making the economy stronger. It would also mean that the overpaid CEOs would be taking less out of the economy and stashing it away in bank accounts.

He doesn’t seem to understand that a consumer based economy doesn’t work if there is no disposable income to purchase things. Even when there is a few extra dollars…..well, we know where that goes don’t we?

  3. NW10 October 26th, 2014 at 1:37 pm

This fat f**k doesn’t understand that higher wages = more people with money to spend which means more taxpayers, which means MORE JOBS!!!!

Christie’s NJ was 47th worst in jobs creation via BLS March. His economic illiteracy proves why today’s remaining repubs plummeted to 23.9%. Seattle’s $15/hr minimum wages ‘trickle-up’ that has jump started many better-paying middle class jobs.

I love it. My state could use some of these, too.

We had a public defender here during Bush 41’s time that had a bumper sticker on her car that said “Pot is an herb. Bush is a dope.”

More of the same “trickle down” BS we have been hearing from the GOP for years.

A minimum wage increase has an immediate, tangible effect on the purchasing power of millions of Americans.

The solutions from Christie and the GOP always involve providing some new benefit for corporations without any requirement that a single job will be created by that benefit.

Here you go big corporation, another tax cut coming your way. Now you can earn even bigger profits when you ship jobs to China and India.

    • William October 26th, 2014 at 2:07 pm

Yeah, that “trickle down” that started with Reagan should be kicking in any day now.

I used to call it “Golden Showers”.

Even Christie’s own Pope says: Trickle-Down Economics ‘Has Never Been Confirmed By The Facts’-Pope Francis! http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/11/26/2997451/pope-francis-trickle/

      • Suzanne McFly October 26th, 2014 at 2:37 pm

They are being very quiet about this Pope’s statements, or is it just me?

        • Obewon October 26th, 2014 at 3:09 pm

All repubs have remaining today are delusional dissemblers debunked by every fact, including conservatives own Pope!

    • M D Reese October 26th, 2014 at 2:25 pm

I wonder if they will ever figure out that “workers” are also “consumers”, and that maybe if they had more money in their pockets they might BUY something once in awhile…

      • Suzanne McFly October 26th, 2014 at 2:36 pm

That is common sense to us, but not these types. He is todays version of Marie Antoinette, “let them eat cake”.

        • M D Reese October 26th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

          MMMM–Cake!

          • Dwendt44 October 27th, 2014 at 12:31 am

Except in Antoinette’s case, she was talking about a cheap bread type product that the poorest people ate to just barely survive.

          • M D Reese October 27th, 2014 at 12:51 pm

Actually, the deeper you research that whole topic, the less you know–including if she ever even said it.

        Got the message?

        • M D Reese October 26th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

I’ve known it all my life. I started doing odd jobs when I was 11.

That fat bastard hasn’t a clue what it means to live on minimum wage

    • Suzanne McFly October 26th, 2014 at 2:34 pm

If he lived on minimum wage for a month, he would lose weight cause that lap band surgery he got doesn’t seem to be doing the trick.

      • rg9rts October 26th, 2014 at 2:46 pm

They should have put the band around his neck

“im sorry ” is that an apology to chris or the citizens of new jersey ?

    • edmeyer_able October 26th, 2014 at 2:51 pm

Someone should tell him we once had jobs like that but his buddy mitt and bain capital shipped those overseas.

      • fancypants October 26th, 2014 at 10:17 pm

don’t forget they had friends in Washington to make it a reality

  11. labman57 October 26th, 2014 at 3:08 pm

Christie has a fairly simply philosophy regarding the health, safety, and welfare of his constituents:
If he doesn’t have their electoral support … screw ’em.

  12. allison1050 October 26th, 2014 at 3:09 pm

What can 1 say except he’s a fool and the middle class and hrly. wage earners who vote for him are the bigger fools.

  13. tiredoftea October 26th, 2014 at 7:37 pm

“We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country.”, sorry, Gov. the time for debate is long since over. Your party wants to debate, the Dems want to act. Your party prevents action by wanting to debate. The action your party takes has killed those middle class jobs, your party gives away billions in tax revenue to your buddies and loses those middle class jobs. Meanwhile, those parents who want a better life for their children are working those minimum wage jobs because of your party’s jobs policies.

  14. searambler October 26th, 2014 at 9:58 pm

“We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country.”

A debate? Implying that one side doesn’t want to create better-paying middle class jobs? Well, at least Christie admits his party’s position on jobs in America…

  15. Boehner-Monkey October 26th, 2014 at 10:42 pm

Christie’s cavalier attitude continued well throughout the interview until the interviewer tried a bluff, suggesting that the White Castle Burger Franchise would be permanently closing. Thereafter, a more serious tone was established.

    • fancypants October 27th, 2014 at 10:00 am

Christie is more of a jersey boardwalk guy Except in the winter he might have foodservice trucked to the house

  16. Kick Frenzy October 26th, 2014 at 11:04 pm

What’s up with the glazed over eyes devoid of any meaning or depth throughout the majority of that piece?
    Seriously… what’s up with that?

He said, she said, we said, you said, they said, that guy said, Lindsay said…
    what’s uuuup… what’s uuuuuup….
oooooo weee… what’s up with that? What’s up with that?!

But really, it looks like his lines are rehearsed and he has no passion for the things he’s saying.
I’m also wondering if the double eye-twitch in his left eye (our right) is a (not so) micro-expression.

  17. Dwendt44 October 27th, 2014 at 12:34 am

So what’s the problem. You can raise the minimum wage and still work toward good paying jobs.
