[su_right_ad]A bill that called for a 7-year prison sentence for selling or transferring a dog or cat for human consumption isn’t getting anywhere because of the National Rifle Association.

Although the animal cruelty bill passed the state senate by a 36-12 margin — and even though Gov. Tom Corbett (R) was expected to sign it — legislative leaders in the state house did not include this bill in the final list of legislation that would receive a vote before the end of the house’s 2013-2014 session. The NRA swiftly claimed victory for killing what it viewed as a “misguided” bill.

The NRA’s primary objection to the animal cruelty bill was a separate provision banning what are known as “pigeon shoots” (although it is worth nothing that the NRA assembled a coalition of groups to oppose the bill that includes dog breeders opposed to additional regulation of kennels). According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, pigeon shoots are “a practice where live pigeons are launched from electronic boxes while shooters fire rounds at short distance. Injured birds that land in the shooting circle get their necks broken – often by teenagers. Wounded birds by the hundreds fly off to die slow deaths.” Animal rights activists have been working to ban this practice for the last 27 years.

Nevertheless, the NRA described pigeon shoots as an “ethical” practice. They also argue that if this “traditional shooting sport” is banned then it will lead to a “slippery slope” where other firearms activity will also be banned.[su_csky_ad]

Killing as recreation is perverse. It really is just that simple.

    • tracey marie October 27th, 2014 at 8:48 pm

That is the basic idea of the gun nuts. When you kill because you can you are a sociop

  2. tiredoftea October 27th, 2014 at 8:26 pm

Thanks, NRA! Your amazing and unrelenting fight for our gun rights shows what a freedom loving organization can do, if it has no ethics whatsoever.

  3. KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker October 27th, 2014 at 8:29 pm

Only a sick sociopathic society lets this type of cruelty happen whilst permitting their own children to be gunned down in their schools.

  4. tracey marie October 27th, 2014 at 8:47 pm

The let’s kill, destroy, maim and just not even consider animals as feeling beings bill

If someone wants to eat dog or cat let them….dog ain’t bad tasting but it takes hours to cook and it’s not my meat of choice but when offered by my Asian brother in-laws I man up.

    • Pat1959 October 28th, 2014 at 10:41 pm

If your brother in law serves dog/cat up in US, it is a felony. May he rot in hell

I agree with you 100%…me and him don’t get along much anymore, he tried to take me out with a sword the police took away his sword and I found out later they gave it back to him. People are dirt poor and sometimes resort to eating something that resembles spinach only it don’t taste as good, there’s not much for jobs and if your blessed with a job it pays $2 a day, so I don’t blame area’s in SE Asia for eating dogs, these dogs aren’t like Western dogs and if left unattended or protected by animal rights groups…they run as loose packs and can eat children, sad but true reality I live in, I wish the animal rights people would stop applying pressure and let them harvest or pick up these stray dogs.

If it’s violent, cruel, destructive, & pro outrageous weaponry the IRA supports it. They place no value on the life of the innocent winged ones & four leggeds. They are selective in valuing human life if it serves their agenda. It is insulting to the American people that they claim to defend the Constitution by promoting any & all weapons any & all the time everywhere.
The time for their darkness to end is coming. I hope soon enough to prevent more evil acts. Since they are so enthralled with encouraging children to carry & use guns do you suppose they would be willing to teach kids how to set up a car bomb? Seems they are capable of this given their history.

      NRA, my friend, not IRA.
But I do see your point.

Thanks for noticing my typo. My bad.
NRA has a lot to account for. In the “old days” they sponsored firearm education for adults only & served a useful purpose. Today they are owned & controlled by weapons manufacturers & do all they can to promote the sale of guns, etc.
Charlton Heston (former Pres.) would likely not approve of today’s NRA….but who knows, he was a right winger obsessed with religion & wealth. Bet he made considerably $ playing Moses in the Ten Commandents movie & donated heavily to what he believed was a “good cause.” Not for me to judge but I hope he rests in peace as may all those who turn to love & away from fear, anger, hate & thinking they are special.

More Faux outrage from the people who unflinchingly support partial birth abortion.

‘Course we do, Dimbot, they’re good to eat.

Your irrelevant moronicity aside, I do wonder at the conceit of human dispensation granted to assorted species– you, dog and cat, shall be treasured and beloved housepet, and you, angus steer, shall be something good to eat

As you might expect, it varies from culture to culture, and to illustrate the point, a depiction (not actually her) of a Thai friend of mine and her childhood best friend and pet, a water buffalo.

the only thing more revolting than your ideas is having it be, just by bad luck, the first comment to come up this am.

YOU too can enter the NRA shooter of the month contest…just put it to your temple and pull

Every time your side is caught red handed, you say “Abortion.” You’re just not very bright.

      • Suzanne McFly October 28th, 2014 at 10:32 am

That is all they got, except Benghazi of course.

I want to get that on a shirt and wear it to vote, I would love to see the response. Probably would just get some odd looks and would be boring, but I would like to think someone would laugh besides me lol

          • peacedreamer October 28th, 2014 at 10:52 pm

Since the “menu” on the ballot is so lacking in appeal you may wish to spare the expense. I’ve decided that since I live in a county overwhelmed by Republican nutjobs my vote has slim to no value here. Waited over a month for the POTUS vote count in ’08. And, good old MO state gov often overturns voter approvals on issues to suit their Repub agenda ( they wouldn’t want to piss off their corporate sponsors after all).

          • Suzanne McFly October 29th, 2014 at 7:21 am

I live in Connecticut and the dems normally are easily elected but Malloy will have a hard time this election. My vote will be necessary this time, not used to that 🙂 I lived in North Florida for years and my votes never counted and I don’t miss that.

          • peacedreamer October 28th, 2014 at 10:47 pm

Yeah! How ’bout Ebo-lie-bengotcha- isis! Fear games need a long & complicated name.

    • William October 28th, 2014 at 10:56 am

Seriously, you guys seemed a little less brain dead when you would try to change the subject to global warming. Now please explain to everyone just what abortion has to do with the NRA and/or eating dogs.

  8. Pistol-Packing October 28th, 2014 at 9:32 am

Very simple…. Just make it it’s own separate bill. Don’t attach it to anything else. And then you can have accountability.

  9. Suzanne McFly October 28th, 2014 at 10:31 am

Just what I needed, another reason to hate the nra.

I wish the NRA would just die.
