As I write this, it is shortly before 1 pm.  About 10 minutes ago, I caught the following Tweet.

Screen Shot 2014-10-28 at 12.58.04 PMThe link takes you to a one-sentence report from AP.

Shooting at North Carolina courthouse; lockdown for county employees, searching for suspects.

So, I scanned the major news sources. Nothing. The top story today?

BREAKING: FIVE YEAR OLD BOY DOES NOT HAVE EBOLA

BREAKING: NURSE BEING RELEASED FROM QUARANTINE, DID NOT HAVE EBOLA!

BREAKING: NURSE RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL, RECOVERED FROM EBOLA

Nash County Courthouse, scene of today's shooting. (WTVD)

Nash County Courthouse, scene of today’s shooting. (WTVD)

[su_center_ad]So, screw the networks. I go to the Nashville, NC media. (Yes, Nashville, NC.)

From WTVD, Raleigh, NC.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol and Nash County authorities are on the scene after two people were shot Tuesday morning at the Nash County courthouse in Nashville.

Pictures from Chopper 11 showed crime tape up around the entrance to the courthouse and yellow bullet shell casing markers.

Sheriff Dick Jenkins said deputies are searching for a single suspect. A North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter was being used to assist in the search in a wooded area. Dogs were also being used.

No word on the condition or injuries of these people, shot on the steps of the freakin’ courthouse in a small freakin’ town in North Freakin’ Carolina!

(Update — in the 20 minutes it took to write this, WTVD is reporting the two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.)

Right now, MSNBC and CNN are carrying a news conference from a hospital where a nurse has recovered from Ebola.

How many people will die from gun violence TODAY in the United States, while nobody in America dies from Ebola?

How much anxiety will there be over the ease of access to lethal firearms, while nobody in America dies from Ebola?

Why is the Conservative Media yammering about “Obola” when it was CONSERVATIVES that blocked meaningful gun control legislation, while nobody in America dies from Ebola?

When will the Corporate Owned Media in the United States of America realize their mandate is to inform, not scare? To educate, not alarm? To “show” not “shock”?

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

I have a new comedy CD on the market. You can find it here.

But in the spirit of today’s news priorities, I am giving you, the Liberaland reader, this cut for free. And as long as I’m in a generous mood, you can have this one, too!

‘Tis true. There was a shooting of a 13yr. old up the street, and when I mean street I mean rural roads. There was the initial piece in the paper, about the copter, and the bonfire, yada and trust me we are a small area, there has been no word sense. Only word of mouth. Personally I find this bullshit. If people are the 2A gun defenders as they wish to be they best be ready to defend the deaths of children. On the Kroger FB Page which I was recently booted I shared the stories of recent child deaths. They hate that. They call me a grave dancer. I assure you I do not dance or revel in a child’s death. I am pro choice however.

In this world of “if it BLEEDS, it LEADS” journalism?
It seems that Ebola beats out a courthouse shooting?
    Why?
Perhaps because the “fear factor” that drives ratings and advertiser sales is stronger with a foreign-bred infectious bug than it is with some twerp with a gun and blood in their eyes!
Shows where the MSM’s priorities are these days!
