The National Organization for Marriage is endorsing Rep. Scott Peters in California’s 52nd district because challenger Carl DeMaio (pictured) is gay.

Even though the Democrat is “wrong on the issues,” NOM would prefer not to see DeMaio take office because of his “own agenda of redefining marriage.” If DeMaio is elected to the U.S. House, NOM warned, “we’re going to have someone in Washington with a platform the tear our beliefs to shreds. Nobody in the media is going to care about his position on pension reform, they’re going to give him a national platform to campaign against marriage and life.”

The letter added that “Peters can’t do any damage as a Democrat in a House of Representatives controlled by Republicans,” so NOM supporters should just hold their nose, vote for him, and pray that in two years the next GOP candidate is a “true conservative.”[su_csky_ad]

Next time he runs he will do so as a democratic party member

Who, DeMaio? Not a chance. He will find another public office to run for in Southern Ca. as a TP candidate. He lost the SD Mayor’s race to Bob “Frisky” Filner and now in a struggle with Peters.

when his own party attacks him he will change. maybe even independent

        • tiredoftea October 31st, 2014 at 3:54 pm

No, you don’t know Carl. He’s a TP troll through and through. SoCal Dems and Independents wouldn’t have him anyway.

Okay, how is he a tp when he is gay…did he forget that part of hate in their bible. How funny and sad

What, being gay confers goodness and wisdom? He was part of the Gingrich led “Congressional Institute”, and graduated to the ultra right “Reason Foundation” before scamming the federal government with his own “efficiency” business that, of course, produced nothing but millions in revenue for him.

BTW, you’ve heard of the Log Cabin Republicans, right? Alan West, Herman Cain, etc., etc.?

or, being gay means you are filth and disgusting to the teabaggers, that was what my question was based on

This is hilarious, the goptp is howling about the left only being concerned and pushing social issues GLBT equality and abortion…and what is this teabagg pac complaint, GLBT equality and abortion.

DeMaio has ignored, and been hostile to the local gay community, so NOW’s move against him is a joke, a telling one. Their intolerance comes as no surprise, but endorsing Peters is a new low in hypocrisy for them.

I’m afraid you went after the wrong organization.
It’s not NOW (National Organization for Women), but NOM (National Organization for Marraige) who is pulling this charade.
Still, DeMaio would not get my vote, based on his track record.

  6. Larry Schmitt October 31st, 2014 at 5:01 pm

How stupid is that? They disagree with Peters on almost everything, but they’re against the other guy simply because he’s gay. That’s like during the Civil Rights fight, when business would deliberately turn away customers WHO WERE WILLING TO PAY simply because they were black. People can be really stupid.

Gotta love those one issue voters.

There’s no end to their nonsense…eye roll here.

Why is a gay guy running on the republican ticket? If he wanted to side with the GOP, he should’ve pulled a Lindsey Graham; claim to be straight (or avoid talking about your sexual preference) even though it’s obvious you’re not.
