[su_right_ad]Funny that conservatives defended men catcalling a woman walking down the street in viral video but, somehow, calling Joni Ernst “attractive” is “very” offensive.

“I was very offended that Sen. Harkin would say that, I think it’s unfortunate that he and many in their party believe that you can’t be a real woman if you’re conservative and female,” Ernst said to “Fox & Friends.”

She added, ”I believe if my name had been Jon Ernst attached to my résumé, Sen. Harkin would not have said those things.”

Ernst said Harkin’s remarks reveal that the alleged Republican “war on women” is “phony” and that Democrats should drop the term.

“First, I am a woman and second, I have been to war, I am a combat veteran,” Ernst said. “This is not a war on women and any time Democrats are using the word war they need to do it to honor our service men and women.”

In spite of the hypocrisy, it would be a very good idea for politicians to never comment on the way women look.[su_csky_ad]

I would really really like to know where the hell has Harkin been throughout this race….Looks like his seat is going to one of the most teaparty crazed nuts they have….

Sarah Palin was “attractive” too….then she opened her mouth. Monkey see- monkey do! It’s obvious the Koch’s are pulling the stings on both of their jaws. Stick with your day job Joni…the pigs won’t call you attractive! You’ll feel better in the pig pen! You’ll think you are still a combat vet again wrestling those piggies!

So then Rush Limbaugh was right about the catcall video. Those men were just letting the young woman know that she is very attractive. You can’t have it both ways. Either its okay to publically compliment a woman on her appearance, or else it isn’t. Some of the men in the catcall video were just as friendly and polite as Sen. Harkin. If every one of the scenes in that video were examples of “catcalls”, then Sen. Harkin is a catcaller too.

Personally, I don’t see a problem with what Sen. Harkin said, and I think that many of the men in the video were just being polite, although a few of them did cross the line and one was downright creepy. Yeah, some guys are jerks, but I don’t want to live in a world where “Have a nice day” is considered offensive.

What bothered me about the catcall video is that the young woman completely ignored everyone she encountered and even avoided eye contact. During ten hours of walking in NYC, she certainly must have encountered women who also said “hello” or “have a nice day” or even “you look nice today”. Why weren’t those scenes included in the video?

I’m sure she has been called worse things than “attractive”.

I am also very offended; him lying to the media like that.
All attractive people should be offended, as well.

One’s outside appearance may be attractive, but one’s black soul that comes out with the spoken words negate any and all attractiveness.

what a reach. She knows damn well that he didn’t offend her and to say such a statement was outlandish shows the screwed up mind she has. Comparing statements of what a man would like to do to the woman he is speaking to, to saying a woman is attractive as in the Harkin statement, shows how the right knows they have once more taken the wrong side but can’t admit it and get it correct. It is sad we have a political party in such a state and voters that look at politics as if it were a sporting event where you pull for your team no matter what.

Some good news from the only poll that counts

    http://www.quinnipiac.edu/news-and-events/quinnipiac-university-poll/iowa/release-detail?ReleaseID=2110

    Today’s results show independent voters divided 44 – 44 percent. Republicans back Ernst 95 – 2 percent. Democrats back Braley 94 – 5 percent.

Men and women still are locked in a reverse gender gap as women back the Democratic man 51 – 42 percent, while men back the Republican woman 52 – 44 percent.

    ***************************************************************************************
*Braley leads 56 – 36 percent among those who already have voted.*

She sure loves making sure definitions have no leeway when ti it comes to war (waiting for her to use that word in the near future). Didn’t she tell a reporter that the claim there’s only one person (as of now) with Ebola is nothing more than an opinion?
