[su_right_ad]It’s the House that impeaches, and the Senate that votes to convict. But former Congressman Tom Tancredo wants Republicans to throw President Obama out of office if they control both houses.

“If Republicans capture the majority in the U.S. Senate as now appears almost certain,” Tancredo explains in his weekend WorldNetDaily column, the GOP congressional leadership should gather the “courage to follow the Constitution and impeach the man.”

Tancredo writes:

There have always been two main arguments against impeachment even among those who support it in principle – first, that it is not practical because it would never succeed in the Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate, and secondly that, well, you just can’t impeach the first black president no matter what he has done. But given the likely new political circumstances post-Nov. 4, both of those arguments have lost their power…

If Republicans capture the majority in the U.S. Senate as now appears almost certain, the 2015 Congress is a new ballgame. If the House were to bring impeachment charges based on not only the amnesty but several other unconstitutional actions, do Democratic senators want to run for re-election in 2016 on a platform that starts with apologizing for Obama’s unconstitutional behavior?…

The Obama presidency is self-destructing. All that is needed to neutralize his planned amnesty and other unconstitutional actions is Republican courage to follow the Constitution and impeach the man. Anything less will simply pave the way for more of the same – not only on immigration, but on energy, welfare, voting rights and other issues.[su_csky_ad]

I notice they never have anything concret or true. What specifically, besides him being black in your mind is impeachable?

  2. arc99 November 3rd, 2014 at 8:27 pm

Two thirds of the Senate must vote to convict on articles of impeachment. That means 67 votes are needed. As I noted earlier, it is mathematically impossible for the GOP to win enough seats to get to 67. They currently have 45. Democrats hold 21 contested seats. Even a clean sweep leaves the GOP with 66 seats.

If any of you right wingers out there think that impeachment and conviction are actually going to happen, then no wonder you are stupid enough to vote for these GOP clowns.

    1) It isn’t almost certain that the gop will capture the Senate.
    2) Even if the gop does capture the Senate, it will be a small majority, not nearly enough to remove Obama from office, as it takes a 2/3 majority to remove the president.

The birth certificate is real. There are no death panels. Those facts do not dissuade Obama – haters.

Reality is not their strong suit.

Yep, the gop will be digging their grave if they impeach Obama. Impeaching President Clinton was not popular, but the gop learned nothing from that adventure. And with the election and reelection of Obama, they have retreated farther into their bubble.

If I remember correctly — Clinton emerged from impeachment MORE popular than ever.

We knew in 2007 they would impeach, whether it would be Hillary or Obama.

But they will have lots of campaign donations for impeaching and that is all they care about.

Being black is not an impeachable offense, GOP. Sorry.

Neither is a BJ — but that didn’t stop the GOP.

Giving republicans control of congress is like giving a 3 year old a knife. Dangerous to the child and to those around him.
