A Michigan father open carried his firearm into his child’s school and that action concerned the parents of children attending the school. The school district is trying to find a way to respect the Second Amendment while keeping the children safe, since obviously, this unidentified man only cares about the former.

[su_center_ad]The district will now discuss its options at a school board meeting Monday night, WXYZ reports.

For the time being, Huron Valley Schools said that any instance of open carry means they will apply its emergency procedures, which includes calling 911, and have an officer approve the entry of the individual with the firearm

“What we would do is we would apply our emergency procedures in the instance that someone chooses to open carry,” Kim Root, Director Of Community Relations for Huron Valley Schools, said.”For example whenever someone chooses to open carry on school grounds, we would apply our emergency procedures which would include going on lockdown.”

“I get that he’s exercising his right, and that is the law when it comes to open carry,” Ed Swadish, owner of Huron Valley Guns said.

Swadish admitted that he understands the parents’ concerns, but he said that open carry in this situation may actually be the safer option.

“If he was conceal carrying, and that’s not allowed, he would have to unholster his gun in the parking lot,” Swadish said. “And it may not be the safest option to leave his firearm in the car.”

“We will use our emergency procedures to ensure that we are doing what the community has asked us to do,” Root said. “And that is to protect the safety of our students first.”

Or the man could homeschool his child instead of freaking out the population of the school.  Because there was a very recent school shooting and people are alarmed. It’s too bad that “respect those around you” was not written into the Second Amendment. Perhaps the Founders thought that that was a given.

Remember, nothing — NOTHING — is more important than the “right” of these people to carry a gun wherever the f*** they want. And they will keep reminding us of it every damn day.

    • M D Reese November 4th, 2014 at 11:37 am

How come the rest of us can’t claim one half of one amendment and just shove it down everybody else’s throat mindlessly until the end of time…

      • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 12:03 pm

That must be that silly militia thing you’re referring to.

        • M D Reese November 4th, 2014 at 12:10 pm

Yes–let’s keep whacking them over the head with that. Apparently they can’t read.

          • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 12:12 pm

But they can read their Bible. But I’ll bet most haven’t read that either.

          • M D Reese November 4th, 2014 at 12:15 pm

They can’t read that either. The let the likes of Pat Robertson interpret it for them. As Mark Twain said, the best cure for christianity is to read the buybull.

I thought it was a federal law about having firearms on School property. Guess I need to look that one up.

    • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 10:44 am

Naturally any attempt to get schools declared no gun zones goes nowhere.

      • Steven Feil November 13th, 2014 at 12:14 am

Do you realize that nearly ALL mass shootings occur in your blessed NO GUN ZONE? Think about that one.

  3. Tori Skidori November 4th, 2014 at 10:57 am

What are parents supposed to teach their kids about how to react when they see someone walk into their school carrying a gun? Wait until they’re shooting at you to get away? That father may think he’s showing kids that guns are okay, but what he’s really doing is either making them afraid of him or making them careless so that if someone intent on harm shows up they won’t recognize it until it’s too late.

“Swadish admitted that he understands the parents’ concerns, but he said that open carry in this situation may actually be the safer option.”
=========Dense, clueless, stupid, careless are the words that came to mind when I read that…
No guns allowed on school property would be much safer for the kids. That includes inside someones car on the parking lot….

    • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 12:08 pm

Remember what Joe not the plumber said to the parents of the murdered child: “Your grief for your child does not trump my right to carry guns.” Their is no such thing as an absolute right to guns, but you can’t tell these fools that.

Because open carry worked so well in Arizona

If he had it concealed then no one would know but him, I work in schools and I am not for any guns in school. Since he demands to openly carry his penis, it is obvious this is not about his second ammendment rights.

  7. Cristina Bonuso November 4th, 2014 at 12:00 pm

NO ONE should carry a gun into a school EVER.

    • sbslabradors November 4th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

You can’t have drugs withing 150 yards of a school, but a gun??? No problem!

  8. m2old4bs November 4th, 2014 at 12:23 pm

NUTS! The more these ammosexuals want to shove their interpretation of the 2nd Amendment without recognizing the militia part, the more I favor stringent gun control laws on a federal level. No one is safer when a gun is part of the equation.

    UGH!

  10. Bunya November 4th, 2014 at 1:57 pm

Was it absolutely necessary for this man to whip out his penis extension in front of a bunch of kids? There should be a law against this kind of flashing.

  11. chungasrevenge November 4th, 2014 at 2:37 pm

    what a redneck moron.

    • FrankenPC . November 4th, 2014 at 11:07 pm

Intensely selfish. “I want to play with mah guns!!” Doesn’t care about the lesson he’s teaching the children.

  12. Elmo November 4th, 2014 at 2:46 pm

Leaving it in a car would be worse for whom exactly? He could invest in a car safe, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

    • whatthe46 November 4th, 2014 at 5:47 pm

he could lock it in the trunk. better yet, not carry it with him period.

This is one seriously brain-douched kind of guy. Those who make any reference to “responsible gun owners” have no idea at all what they’re talking about.

  14. lorimakesquilts November 4th, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Keep calling 911 on these asshats. It costs money for the cops to show up. The city or county will listen to the money.

  15. Jamie Miller November 4th, 2014 at 3:56 pm

from the article: ““If he was conceal carrying, and that’s not allowed, he would have to unholster his gun in the parking lot,” Swadish said. “And it may not be the safest option to leave his firearm in the car.”

Or he could leave the G** D***** thing home. Who the hell does he think he is? Batman? Captain America? Supergirl with a codpiece?

  16. sbslabradors November 4th, 2014 at 4:11 pm

Freaking out children trumps your so called rights. WTF is wrong with these people? Little man syndrome.

  17. whatthe46 November 4th, 2014 at 6:02 pm

if someone wants to shoot up the school, do they really think that person is going to wait for 911 to verify his rights? he’s got one thing on his mind and murder trumps all.

  18. Ashes Defacto November 4th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

This individual is doing this on purpose on order to fill some sick need for attention.

  19. James Hopkins November 4th, 2014 at 9:47 pm

there should be no room for debate no firearms in school!!!

  20. FieryLocks November 5th, 2014 at 10:27 pm

    Jerk!

  21. DesertSun59 November 8th, 2014 at 1:58 pm

He’s not a ‘well regulated militia’. He has no business carrying.

  22. Ed Short November 12th, 2014 at 9:44 pm

Nick Offerman and I are both what we call “Second Amendment Originalists”: The US constitution grants you the right to bear a front loading musket, along with metal balls and black power and packing paper.

The constitution says nothing that grants the right to any type of armament, and indeed a private citizen is not allowed to own a bazooka.

Mere congressional legislation can legally restrict citizens to muskets.

The argument that we need the latest tech guns with their mass killing power because the purpose is to defeat or deter the federal army is laughable. The bogus argument reminds me of the irony in the song ‘Silas Stingy’ by John Entwhistle of The Who:

He bought a safe to put the box in
And a house to put the safe in
And a watchdog on a chain to make quite sure
And his face was very funny
When he counted up his money
And he realized he hadn’t any more

While private citizens accumulate guns to protect the citizenry from the evil government, those same guns are killing citizens by the dozen every day. “Ironic” is putting it nicely.

  23. Steven Feil November 13th, 2014 at 12:09 am

You people are really out there. It is not the kids that are freaked out, it is the adults. The kids get freaked out because the adults tell them that is the proper way to act.

Muskets? Bull. We are ALL the militia.

Leave the think in the car? At home? Can ANY of you guarantee the safety of any of us at all times? I know of at least one person’s parents that are dead because she left her weapon in the car instead of keeping it with her when a CRIMINAL decided to crash into the restaurant they were eating in.

No, it is people like you that are causing all of the “freaking out.” One of these days each of you will likely have an experience where you will wish to hell you had something to protect yourself NOW while you wait for minutes or hours for your blessed police to arrive. Just remember, the criminals you all love so much don’t obey the law.
