[su_right_ad]Speaking with “700 Club” co-host Terry Meeuwsen Pat Robertson called children with Down Syndrome “mongoloid.”

“So you see these little children that we call mongoloid, you know, Down syndrome, sweet little children but the back part [of the head] hasn’t formed,” he said. “It’s a deformity, if you have a little girl, can you imagine having a big hole in the mouth?”

Earlier this year, Robertson advised a viewer to be careful against marrying her first cousin since “you don’t want to have some mongoloid child.”

that man is so very disgusting, he needs to die already and rot in the ground.

It would be far better if he were photographed in bed with a dead girl AND a live boy. Imagine the reaction within the rapture cult.

Mr. Robertson, please report to the morgue. You’re late for your autopsy.

It’s the term of his time. His time has passed, he hasn’t. But old people still use that and other anachronistic terms. No real story here.

    • Carla Akins November 4th, 2014 at 5:52 pm

Except, that he does know it changed – he used the proper term as well.

  4. dave-dr-gonzo November 4th, 2014 at 4:24 pm

If I were on the board of Disney I would be twisting the arms of everyone running ABC Family to yank “The 666 Club” for consistent violations of standards and practices and launch a preemmptive lawsuit against Robertson and his production group. The doddering scaremonger would make the baby Jesus cry.

Are we sure that this guy is still alive and these programs aren’t just re-runs like Lawrence Welk on PBS?

    • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 4:52 pm

When they first started showing those in the 80’s, it took my father a while to realize that they were reruns.

      • tiredoftea November 4th, 2014 at 4:57 pm

        Your father watches Pat Robertson?

        • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 5:01 pm

Not watching anyone now, he died 11 years ago. But he watched Lawrence Welk every Saturday night (play that funky music, white boy) for 20 years, then started again when it went to PBS. But he could also be fooled by a football instant replay, thought it was another touchdown.

          • tiredoftea November 4th, 2014 at 5:35 pm

Yeah, I watch those replays to see if it’s different from the first time!

          • StoneyCurtisll November 4th, 2014 at 7:04 pm

I seem to remember The Lawrence Welk Show being on Sundays…
But I remember having to watch it..
That was back when there was only 3 or 4 channels on the TV,(usually black and white)..
(except for an obscure UHF channel)..;)

I think it was 1966 when we finally got a ‘color TV’..
And still most of the programming was in black and white..

Remember when the TV was the size of a piece of furniture?
About the size of a credenza..?

          • Larry Schmitt November 4th, 2014 at 7:27 pm

I’m pretty sure it was Saturday. I remember because my father bought the Sunday LA Times (back when Sunday papers were huge fat things, weighed at least 5 pounds) on Saturday night and he would read that while watching. We had one channel, (small town) that ran shows from all three networks.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 4th, 2014 at 7:32 pm

            Saturday it is~!…

          • terribletwos November 5th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Shoot. You were way ahead of us then. We always had a black and white TV up until the late 70’s. Heck, when they first came out with color TV’s, we had just gotten our first TV and it was black and white.

It’s obvious his mind is beyond reasoning (of course his beliefs are irrational thinking as well), but how long of a shelf life does that shell of human biology have? Sheesh!

Mongoloid /ˈmɒŋ.ɡə.lɔɪd/ is the general physical type of some or all of the populations of East Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Siberia, the Arctic, the Americas, parts of the Pacific Islands, and small parts of South Asia.
Of course, the tone deaf old fart is probably incapable of finding a dictionary.

    • StoneyCurtisll November 4th, 2014 at 7:31 pm

I never imagined the bizarre utterances of Pat Roberson would remind me of a song from my youth…

      DEVO.. Mongolid..

Ole Pat is so 19th century.
The term USED to be used for those with Down Syndrome, but is largely only a slur in recent decades.

My great aunt had down syndrome and she was the most beautiful person I ever knew. She never had anything negative to say and she loved everyone. I miss her and love her greatly, I am glad she will never know the level of stupidity that existed in the world she lived.

Old, ignorant white men are as scary as old, ignorant (black, asian, muslim… etc. ) men and women.

That’s all I have to say, fellow mongaloids!

Not everyone that is old is ignorant

  21. searambler November 5th, 2014 at 8:45 am

Mongoloid is a term, like ‘retarded’, that used to be acceptable, and was used a lot. But it has come to be considered insulting in the last fifty-plus years. Robertson is tone deaf when it comes to acceptable non-insulting terms for certain groups of people. He’s used ’em all his life. He won’t change now. Frankly, with all the real crap going on in the world today, this azzhole using a derogatory term (again) just makes me shake my head and move on. He’s not worth wasting my ire on anymore…….
