[su_center_ad]This Thursday morning, a man called into C-SPAN and referred to President Obama as “that n*gger” before getting booted off the air by Washington Journal host Steve Scully. “Anthony” from San Diego, California, said he was a Republican and started out his comments by giving his opinion on where the GOP should go strategically after retaking…

    Quick Unscientific Poll

Which one of the following best summarizes your opinion about the CSPAN caller

    A. Liberal plant to make conservatives look bad
    B. Just one extremist out of millions of conservatives who criticize on policy, not race
    C. Unfortunately represents a large segment of the GOP base.
    D. I have no idea until Rush tells me what to think

C – 57% gop for impeach Obama … (over 2/3 [real] Americans oppose) as of this last July.

  2. mea_mark November 6th, 2014 at 2:33 pm

What, no 6 second delay? If you’re going to let people call in and some of them are going to be RWNJs you have to expect this.

    • R.J. Carter November 6th, 2014 at 2:35 pm

Any call in show should have the six-second delay, or they’re just asking for trouble.

      • Larry Schmitt November 6th, 2014 at 2:45 pm

I’ve never heard of any radio show that didn’t. Is that beyond CSPAN’s technology?

      • granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Republiklans has always been for hiding the TRUTH, huh?

        • R.J. Carter November 6th, 2014 at 4:58 pm

          Your racist point is…?

          • raincheck November 7th, 2014 at 7:00 am

What exactly was “racist” about his comment?

          • R.J. Carter November 7th, 2014 at 8:28 am

            What wasn’t?

  3. R.J. Carter November 6th, 2014 at 2:37 pm

Step 1: Identify yourself by name as a Republican.
Step 2: Issue policy statement few Republicans would endorse.
    Step 3: Make asinine comment.
    Step 4: ??????
    Step 5: PROFIT!

  5. Red Eye Robot November 6th, 2014 at 2:44 pm

yeah, Like Republicans watch c-span. Next you’ll tell me they want government to fund solar energy and raise the minimum wage

    • arc99 November 6th, 2014 at 2:52 pm

what world do you live in? seriously?

none of your opinions ever reflect events in the real one.

      http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/c-span-47-million-watch-us-every-week_b171199

The survey also indicates that viewership is split roughly 50/50 between men and women, and that C-SPAN viewers are, not surprisingly, active in politics and their communities. 26% of C-SPAN viewers identified as “liberal,” compared to 31% “conservative and 39% “moderate.”

Koch Bros funded tea party republican racists are endemic: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/tea-party-racism/

“Integrate with McConnell are you serious? Why don’t you integrate with Mitch McConnell”-POTUS Obama responding to another RepublKlan this morning on PBS.

  7. Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 6th, 2014 at 3:06 pm

Can I ask why is this even a news story ???

    • edmeyer_able November 6th, 2014 at 3:14 pm

      Go for it.

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 6th, 2014 at 3:31 pm

        I did…

        • tracey marie November 6th, 2014 at 5:11 pm

oh course you did, racist always do

    • arc99 November 6th, 2014 at 3:19 pm

Someone referring to the President of the United States as a n*r on national television is not a news story? I beg to differ.

      • tracey marie November 6th, 2014 at 3:26 pm

to mike t that is normal

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 6th, 2014 at 3:31 pm

No, I dont find it newsworthy in the sense you have one fucking retard who decided to express his ignorance by opening up his pie-hole. And the moderator did the right thing and immediately through him off the air.

Above and beyond that. No.. what is so news worthy about it?

        • arc99 November 6th, 2014 at 3:36 pm

There was only one ACORN employee in the O Keefe video purporting to show them enabling prostitution. Not only was it considered newsworthy for months, it resulted in Congressional legislation.

If the actions of one individual are not newsworthy, then let us restore ACORN funding and apologize.

Otherwise, I stand by my opinion.

It should be added that one ACORN individual contacted law enforcement immediately after his encounter. Apparently that fact was not quite so newsworthy since so many conservatives are unaware of it.

        • raincheck November 6th, 2014 at 3:41 pm

Seriously?? ONE retard? Stop acting as though this is an isolated incident… Racism is rampant among the TP republicans… Your just plain BLIND if you can’t see it!

          • arc99 November 6th, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Precisely..When incidents like this remain hidden behind 6-second delays and non-coverage, there is no way to demonstrate that those who tell us that criticism of the President is never based on race are either completely dishonest or in complete denial.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 6th, 2014 at 4:20 pm

What this does, simple perpetuates the hate by giving this asshole his moment in the spotlight that he desired. But then again, is he really that much different then some of the comentators here with their “Colorful” language describing others… I dont think so.

          • edmeyer_able November 6th, 2014 at 4:28 pm

Please point them out when they show their quote fu(king retard unquote language

          • arc99 November 6th, 2014 at 4:35 pm

No problem goes away simply by ignoring it.

The problem of racial hatred is no different.

Yes, that caller is much different than any commentator I have seen here. I do not recall seeing any comment referring to anyone using a racial slur.

Personally, I think it is entirely fitting for right wingers to get a taste of their own medicine. If a man who identified himself as gay, phoned into a CSPAN talk show about gay rights and advocated repeal of laws against pedophilia, are you naive enough to believe that the right wing BS machine would not attempt to portray that ONE individual as typical of all gay rights advocates?

Bottom line, when you dish it out. Be prepared to take some right back.

          • tracey marie November 6th, 2014 at 5:11 pm

your kinds hate, it is inbred

          • raincheck November 7th, 2014 at 6:33 am

There you go again… trying to make it seem as if it is a single “bad actor”
Have you been ignoring all of the images splashed all over the news sites, of teabaggers carrying signs and wearing t-shirts, that say things like “Put the white back in the White-house”? Black Lawmakers being spit upon? etc. etc. and then you go on to equate the “colorful” language of commentators, (as you put it) to such vile comments and actions of the tea party aka conservatives? REALLY??

          • raincheck November 7th, 2014 at 6:20 am

            Exactly!

          • granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 5:09 pm

I think aka “Q” was making a response to Republicans in general, being that the caller identified himself as such. Kinda like the one size fits all hats now available and thanks to the crippled lame duck with little quack left in the White House being once again MANUFACTURED IN USA!
            USA!
            USA!
            USA!
            shame Republicans have swapped to
            MITCH!
            MITCH!
            MITCH!
would have been nice if some left leaning ‘commie socialist hitler type main stream media person had of caught it. They could have at least ask about any plans for America in general.

        • granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 5:00 pm

you may have a partial point there. (BTW -love your reference to those who identify themselves as Republicans) – a fits all hat if there ever is one.
I, myself, would have considered it much more newsworthy if a left leaning mainstream newscaster had questioned Mitch on day 1 of what Republicans would be doing for the American People more so than all the plans they were making to USE the US Senate for their own personal/political gains, but alas, with the Republican winning of the US Senate, they once again become timid little voices, hiding in a land of shadows that has no light at all!

        • tracey marie November 6th, 2014 at 5:10 pm

Here you go with the “one” person thing again, it’s always just ONE isn’t it?

    • Mike November 6th, 2014 at 3:36 pm

Pretty normal in your neck of the woods I suppose.

    • Budda November 6th, 2014 at 3:50 pm

It’s a news story because it clearly shows, ah, what’s the word I’m looking for? Oh yeah , racism. It shows how some people (in this case a Republican) think it is okay to address the president with this term. It is NOT an isolated incident.

      • iyamwhatiyam November 6th, 2014 at 4:01 pm

        • granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 4:50 pm

didn’t know the same caller was aired on C Span @ that time – could you maybe post a reference date of transmission – also appreciate your revelation it’s been going on for quite a while (even during the years of denial by Teabaggers with signs, comments, it’s his more conservative policies than Ronald Reagan, not the color of his skin, 4 Americans killed on his watch compared to the infinitely few of just the administration before, or again, Ronald Reagan, vacations less than half of the administration before him, and of course the legislation than could never be passed even though there was no problems at all with having far worse laws put on the books just a few 8 years before (which, of course makes him a ‘socialist’ if he upholds or wanton criminal -much like a 17 year old child walking home while black in Florida – if he doesn’t).

Mike T AKA ‘Susie’ might also have gender identity issues..

(not that there is anything wrong with that)

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" November 7th, 2014 at 6:58 am

no gender issues as all. “Blue Waffle” AKA Tracey Marie seams to want to think I am someone else. And in another thread, when she decided to call me Mike T. I mentioned, that I have never been called that before, so Carla said, she would call me “Susie”. And it just went from there.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 7th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

So you are neither Mike T, or Susie…
never mind..(it’s really non of my business)..

  8. crc3 November 6th, 2014 at 3:44 pm

Yep and it’s been that way since the day Obama took office….

    • granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 4:06 pm

in NC it was the day he won the Democrat primary in 2008.
“the falling market was his fault because they knew he would be elected POTUS’.

“you voted for Obama? -but he’s a ni**er”
response: -no, he’s an Hawaiian with a really great Maui tan.
      “really?”
response: would I be telling you that if it wasn’t true? Hell, look at his birth certificate. (sorry, I may be the one who ‘created’ the birthers).
“well, that’s different, but do you really believe he can keep US from going into another economic DEPRESSION’?
response: don’t know, but if he can’t, it won’t be because He didn’t try. Hawaiians is famous for not giving up and giving it their best, Just look at all the holes they punch into each pineapple they can!!!

  9. granpa.usthai November 6th, 2014 at 4:27 pm

    agree 100%.
sticking your head in the sand like GOP’s do after the deposits into their offshore bank accounts for hunting down WMD’s start coming in does no good at all. (except for the select few whose names are on the accounts).
Hiding from truth/discouraging the revelations of truth/delaying the exposure of truth are the exact same tactics GOPs used in the 2000 election, the engagement in Iraq, the purposeful disrespect to our fallen warriors by the exact same crowd who refused to serve in their day, made up reasons for unwarranted invasions of Sovereign Nations, Patriot Acts, undue and extremely expensive to TAXPAYERS honor to one of the most inefficient, wasteful and lawless President this nation has ever had between 1980 -1988.

  10. StoneyCurtisll November 6th, 2014 at 4:55 pm

Imagine the expose on Republican thinking if the caller was allowed to continue…
I think we already know the right wing mindset on race and president Obama..

    • Christopher Richey November 6th, 2014 at 11:18 pm

Sorry, but you are wrong there. I voted for him the first time. Then he lied. Then he got radical. Then he expanded as a Marxist. THAT is why I hate him. As do most of the African Americans that I have talked with. When I ask them about Obama, they are against him now, because, he is NOT what he said he was. He insults their faith, their education, their potential and their heritage. Any conversation that turns to ‘race’ ends quickly with me. I’m not saying that there are not some ignorant people out here. But, what I am saying is that they are really, really ignorant and ‘race’ is all they can think of. Those who are informed, focus on issues that are contrary to Obama’s Marxist vision of America. And if you have studied anything about Marxism, you would see the parallels and be angry also. Here is an excerpt:

“A class must be formed which has radical chains, a class in civil society which is not a class of civil society, a class which is the dissolution of all classes, a sphere of society which has a universal character because its sufferings are universal, and which does not claim a particular redress because the wrong which is done to it is not a particular wrong but wrong in general. There must be formed a sphere of society which claims no traditional status but only a human status, a sphere which is not opposed to particular consequences but is totally opposed to the assumptions of the political system; a sphere, finally, which cannot emancipate itself without emancipating itself from all the other spheres of society, without, therefore, emancipating all these other spheres, which is, in short, a total loss of humanity and which can only redeem itself by a total redemption of humanity. This dissolution of society, as a particular class, is the proletariat.” Karl Marx

      This is Obama’s Transformation.

On another thread you claim to have an IQ of 147… Genius starts at 140…
If your such a “genius” as you claim (bragged about) You wouldn’t have to quote people (Karl Marx) you would be writing things other people would be quoting. After reading your long winded blathering on other threads, I did a little research on the things you wrote , and found you “copying and pasting” an awful lot of what you wrote… it was easy, all I did was copy and pasted what you wrote into google, and voila! there it was.
Do you really expect anyone here to believe you voted for Obama?

        • Christopher Richey November 8th, 2014 at 5:08 am

WOW! I don’t believe I have ever been ‘investigated’ so thoroughly before! I’m flattered! Did you really read ALL OF THE STUFF I’VE WRITTEN??? Then you must have learned something…wait, you didn’t actually ‘read’ anything though did you? If you had, you would have noticed that, instead of expressing ONLY my opinion, I prefer to offer usable facts and references to other trusted sources of learning. You see, the Blogosphere is full of people expressing their opinion but with no verifiable research to back their opinions. It’s frustrating, really, to have to waste time ‘proving’ a contested point when I can offer the proof up front. Nor did you notice that I reference my posts as thoroughly as possible. It’s called ‘research.’ I may miss a few, depending on how much sleep I have missed, but, referencing the words and works of others is quite acceptable and requires that a person study, learn, expand their understanding and grow from it. A concept that is clearly alien to you. You might want to consider NOT taking a ‘Raincheck’ on your next opportunity to expand your understanding.

And, thanks. I DID have a nice day! 😀

        • Christopher Richey November 8th, 2014 at 5:31 am

Oh, and by the way, would you care to be a little more specific about your charge that I merely ‘copy and paste’ an “awful lot?” I comment on a myriad of topics and have so for years. So, I’m unclear on what you are so excited about ‘catching’ me doing. Is the charge plagiarism? Being unoriginal? Being inconclusive? Being wrong?

You see, Raincheck, IQ is not a measure of learning. It is a measure of ability. Ability that is commonly broke down into categories that overlap and enhance one another. For instance, according to the Cattell-Horn-Carroll theory, three categories that are implicit to intelligence are Fluid Intelligence, Crystallized Intelligence and Quantitative Reasoning. The best way to describe these are (brace yourself! Direct quotes ahead!):

Fluid intelligence includes the broad ability to reason, form concepts, and solve problems using unfamiliar information or novel procedures.

Crystallized intelligence includes the breadth and depth of a person’s acquired knowledge, the ability to communicate one’s knowledge, and the ability to reason using previously learned experiences or procedures.

Quantitative reasoning is the ability to comprehend quantitative concepts and relationships and to manipulate numerical symbols.

I won’t bother with a reference here. I’m sure you are quite able to Google it yourself. What you are NOT able to Google, however, is how strongly I am able to operate in these three categories nor how I voted in 2008. To do THAT you would need to be a clairvoyant. And sense you have already offered evidence that you believe that you ARE clairvoyant, I WILL offer you these references for your future studies:

Here is an interview with David Simon. It as about as close to how I feel and see things that I could find… ‘I would appreciate your thoughts on this’… Please no snarky comments or we won’t be able to have any ‘real’ debate. After re-reading ‘SOME’ of your comments… I found common ground.. Anyway.. your thoughts please.

VERY interesting article and viewpoint. The auto-renewal built into DISQUS just deleted the very long response that I just spent 30 minutes writing 🙁 so, for now, accept my assurance that I will reply at a later time to your request. For the time being, ponder this:

Is Capitalism to blame, in theory and function, or, rather, the abuse of it’s empowering principles by greedy souls? Also, is Democracy a faulty system of government, or, is it the vagrant (and often illegal)disregard of it’s Constitutional principles?

My take is that the government is NOT supposed to be a business. And business is NOT supposed to govern. It seems to me, the problems we face in the world today are not a result of Capitalism or Democracy. They are a result of the insidious fusion of the two. THAT is the fulcrum that ‘we the people’ must focus on. Not, the divisive rhetoric employed by those in power to keep ‘we the people’ at each others throats over issues that are craftily obfuscated to distract us from the illegal activities of our leaders.

I would appreciate YOUR thoughts as well.

“Is Capitalism to blame, in theory or function,or, rather, the abuse of empowering principles by greedy souls?”
Is Jamie Dimon an honest man?… “The public
should recognize that we have the widest, the deepest, the most
transparent capital markets in the world” .. Jamie Dimon ( hahaha.. Really?)
“As head of JPMorgan Chase, Dimon oversaw the transfer of $25 billion in funds from the US Treasury Department to (HIS) the bank on October 28, 2008….. It has been widely reported,
that JPMorgan Chase was in much better financial shape than other banks
and did not need TARP funds (here’s the part that seems ridicules to me)—-> but accepted the funds because the
government did not want to single out only the banks with capital
issues” A rather weak argument if you ask me. Tarp was intended to help Banks with troubled assets related to residential mortgages” (In my opinion brought this upon themselves) Which brings to mind, who’s fault was it, that brought about the Housing mortgage crisis? Was it the people that bought houses they really couldn’t afford? Or the Banks, that, gave loans to any one that had a pulse… who then, bet against it to fail? It made me sick to see “Wall Street executives popping champagne corks” out on the balconies after receiving huge bonuses, while protesters marched down below.. A poke in the eye of the people that bailed them out.
Not feeling well this morning, however, I WILL reply to the rest of your comment soon, which by the way, I found very impressive. ( I might even quote you 😉
Have a good day… (I look forward to your next reply)

Heading into work right now. It appears that we are not far from one another in perspective. Thanks, for the kudo’s! ‘We’ have our work cut out for us…

          • Christopher Richey November 12th, 2014 at 3:28 am

“Which brings to mind, who’s fault was it, that brought about the Housing mortgage crisis? Was it the people that bought houses they really couldn’t afford? Or the Banks, that, gave loans to any one that had a pulse, who then, bet against it to fail?”

Both, to a degree. When I was a kid, my Grandpa always told me, “If you can’t afford it, you can’t have it. If you really want it, then get to where you can afford it or do without.” I have never been one to borrow a lot of money. Almost all of my loans have been 24-36 month and cash was my favorite method for transactions. Never drove a new car but always had a good car, etc. There are actually three sides to my answer.

The banks? Absolutely at fault. They are the professionals and knew exactly what they were doing. If a person defaulted, the bank still got their property back. Real estate is huge and they figured they couldn’t loose. They failed to understand the principle of Entropic Watersheds. There IS an upper limit to any system and, when reached, the system will collapse. In fact, it was an economist that formulated the principle. They believed, wait for it, that they were ‘too big to fail.’ (OK…maybe a little snarky there…)

The second group are those who believe that gaming the system is their right. Many never intended to pay the loans back. Many filed bankruptcy to avoid the penalties. They are to blame for being dishonest. There is no way to determine the ration of honest and dishonest borrowers.

The third group are those who simply failed to do enough research and trusted the system to never turn on them. I don’t blame them for this. Although, I do expect adults to know when they can afford something and when they can’t. Its just being responsible.

But, above and beyond all of this particular crisis is how it could have happened in the first place. Was it a defect in the Capitalist system? Or was it the dishonest and criminal maneuverings of politicians and their paymasters who set up the Ponzi Scheme in the first place?

“…but accepted the funds because the government did not want to single out only the banks with capital issues…”

            whaaaAAAATTTT?!?!?!?!?!?!

ALL of those banks were in on it. Watching the demise of their competitors was one thing. Buying up their assets (without actually taking the hit for the defaults) was another. Taking a ‘little off the top’ of the buyouts, er, um, bailouts was criminal.

I’ve been thinking about what’s been in the news lately, and then I found myself wondering what your take is, regarding the ‘Keystone pipeline’… I don’t know how to reach you except this thread.. I hope all is well

          • Christopher Richey November 14th, 2014 at 4:45 pm

All is well, and the same to you! 🙂 I have not delved into the Keystone issue much, but, on the surface, I have noticed that the President’s ‘opposition’ to it has satisfied his Green base, while his total oblivion to the fracking boom in the Dakota’s, which, ironically has placed the U.S. first in production, is indicative of his continued duplicity. While he plays both sides against the middle, we must only look to the benefit to the manipulator to see where his TRUE ambitions lay. We are talking about lying liars, here. Nothing they SAY can be trusted. Period. Only by tracking their actions can we attempt to know their intents.

That being said, I do not, on the surface, see a problem with the Keystone that has not always been a problem with energy production in this country. I have not looked closely enough to determine otherwise. However, I did see a terrific movie with Daniel Day Lewis called ‘There Will Be Blood,” and I think it captures the truth behind the issues well.

Same here on contact avenues to you, but, this IS related to the initial conversation here and I think you might find it interesting:

            1. Hagel promises new US military innovation

            http://www.timesofisrael.com/invoking-hezbollah-hagel-promises-new-us-military-innovation/

            2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Hagel Particularly the “Criticism of Bush administration” section

            3. Hezbollah http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

I am really tired and have not had a chance to dig into this development yet, but, I sense something amiss. Primarily, Hagel is a Republican, critical of Bush, supportive of Obama and may even be heavily involved in the military purge of the last six years. I can’t say, if he is duplicit, a political hawk or maybe actually principled and able to work with both parties without compromising his principles. What say you?

No, that is not true. Maybe 99.99% but not 100%…. =)
