As Ferguson, MO residents wait for a grand jury report on the killing of Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson, gun sales are going through the roof.

[su_center_ad]

On Monday, Steven King, who owns Metro Shooting Supplies told CNN that customers bought 100 guns this weekend. A typical weekend brings in about 30 buyers.

“People are afraid they are gonna throw Molotov cocktails,” says King, referring to the mostly nonviolent protests that have taken place in Ferguson since the shooting.

The increase in gun sales reaches across racial and ethnic lines, he says.

“A lot of black people coming in saying they are afraid of the hooliganism,” he says.

“But not all of Ferguson is hooliganish. The media portrays us that way. If the world can just see this is one little street in Ferguson going crazy, they’d understand that we’re not just one big burning city.”

At Metro Shooting Range in nearby Bridgeton, Missouri, manager John Stephenson says gun sales are up 40 to 50% as of last week.

And lots of folks are coming in to the gun range for training, which he says is important for new gun owners.[su_csky_ad]

Shooting each other is sooo much easier than democracy.

T’is true, because we now have ID requirements for voting, and an NRA membership card is now acceptable.

      • George Purdy November 10th, 2014 at 8:45 pm

Whats so hard about an ID card? HMMM? They cost at most $27 and usualy about $10-$17.
I’m disabled. BUT I also keep my CDL current in case I can beat my disability so I can bet the hell back to work as this shit sucks!

Guess how much it costs in my state to keep a CDL current? Mine cost a total of $138! You have to have a medical exam which actually cost MORE than the License! No kidding! BUT a State issued ID card only costs $11! for 7 years! That’s less than a carton of smokes, six pack of beer or a small bottle of booze or way less than a 1/4 oz of pot and then the other crap they use and yes they do, so why can’t they get an ID card as they HAD TO HAVE IT and something proving they LIVED in at that address to get that handout they get monthly!
So you and the rest of you idiots and your tax to vote crap can KMA!!! I did it they can do it!

The information below is not mine – I stole from our regular readers a couple of days ago, but it seemed to fit perfectly here. (Thanks – Old Lefty) Getting and keeping an ID is not as easy as you think it is – particularly for women.

Wiola Lee, 59, was born in rural Georgia and moved to Philadelphia in her early youth to live with her grandmother. Ms. Lee worked for the Philadelphia Public Schools, including special needs children. She has voted for well over 30 years and has been civically active, volunteering as a poll worker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
With the new voter ID laws, Ms. Lee is trying to access her birth certificate which she will need in order to obtain a photo ID, but the state of Georgia has no record of her birth. Without a photo ID, Ms. Lee will not be able to vote.

Bea Bookler has voted in every election since 1940 but now 72 years later she may not be able to cast what she believes might be her last vote. At 93 years old, Ms. Bookler lives at an assisted living facility in Chester County, no longer posseses photo ID and does not have her birth certificate to obtain ID.

After learning about Pennsylvania’s new photo ID requirement, Ms. Block who hasn’t missed an election in 70 years, went to her local PennDOT office so she could obtain her free ID. Despite having all the documentation listed on the Department of State checklist, her application was rejected because the PennDot worker couldn’t
read her Hebrew marriage license and the deed to her home and Pepco bill had her married name, not her maiden name. Ms. Block takes her right to vote so seriously that in 2010 she had her granddaughter take her from the hospital in a wheelchair because she couldn’t obtain an absentee ballot..

So the old lady could not get a GOVERNMENT TRANSLATOR which if you instead of pointing out this one case you could have verified that there ARE such things in the US GOOBERMENT and with the internet that scan of the foreign documents when sent to the US GOOBERMENT or one of the contractors I found with a simple search she or that office she went to could have the answer in a day or so! Some of them were FREE!
That other one that lives so far away from a poll is BULL!
EVERY TOWN AND COUNTY has an office for each damn politician thats on the ballot. Call one and they will make damn sure you get to the poll for your vote! CHURCHES offer their own help for you to get to the polls and yep she can’t possibly NOT know someone with a car for a ride! I see offers of transport on the TV and hear them on the radio.
That’s BUNK and we all see lazy in that one! We all know the date and times for all the next 100 years of eklections so whats so hard with calling one and arranging a ride as in scheduling? HMMM? OR she can’t get to the office or call for a ballot to be mailed and do an absentee as I do on her OWN schedule? HMMMM? Yes, we disabled DO have RIGHTs also and she just does not exercise them!

Take the lazy out of your liberal rant and you have your answer!
The cuts in Democratic districts? No biggie. It’ll keep idiots from voting for another idiot like the one we have now! Sucks when the boot is on the other foot doesn’t, it when your rules are used against you.

          • OldLefty November 21st, 2014 at 9:36 am

So tell it to all the judges who are writing the decisions.

            1) Not all people CAN arrange rides.

            2) Not in PA and many other states …. hence the court’s rulings.

As for; ” It’ll keep idiots from voting for another idiot like the one we have now! Sucks when the boot is on the other foot doesn’t, it when your rules are used against you.”

        • Carla Akins November 25th, 2014 at 5:01 am

It’s not the ID card but the documentation needed to get the ID card. Gawd forbid you were born at home or a woman that took your husband’s name – because now your birth certificate doesn’t match. You should consider researching this issue before commenting.

          • ChrisVosburg November 11th, 2014 at 1:22 am

Bob Cronos writes: RTA: “The increase in gun sales reaches across racial and ethnic lines, he says. “A lot of black people coming in saying they are afraid of the hooliganism,” he says.”

The man speaking is Steven King, who is the owner of the “Metro Shooting Supplies” gun dealerships in Bridgeton MO and Belleville Il, with shooting ranges at both locations.

It should go without saying that he has a vested interest in escalating a confrontation that can net him further gun sales, which begs the question of why CNN should consult with him about the conflict in Ferguson– where neither he nor his gun shop reside.

His comment about a “A lot of black people coming in saying they are afraid of the hooliganism,” should be taken for what it is– the uncorroborated spin of a redneck who doesn’t actually see a lot of blacks in his shop in Bridgeton, where the white pop is well over 85% (blacks less than 10%).

You can read more about Steven and his doughy white co-workers here. Yeah, It’s pretty much what you’d expect.

Pictured below: A Man, A Plan, A Gun Hustle: Steven King.

          • Bob Cronos November 11th, 2014 at 11:12 pm

” the uncorroborated spin of a redneck who doesn’t actually see a lot of blacks in his shop in Bridgeton,” — How the hell do you know? How many gun shops are closer to the “black people” than his? In fact his shop is located right on the other side of the airport from Ferguson, just 3 or 4 miles away… Why wouldn’t “black people” travel 3 or 4 miles to his shop?

          • ChrisVosburg November 11th, 2014 at 11:30 pm

Bob Cronos whines: ” the uncorroborated spin of a redneck who doesn’t actually see a lot of blacks in his shop in Bridgeton,” — How the hell do you know?

Because I have thinking skills, Bob.

As I pointed out in the comment you reference, he is not qualified to comment on the doings in Ferguson because he is not there.

        • Bob Cronos November 10th, 2014 at 11:06 pm

What does race have to do with defending yourself and your property against imminent rioting?

FTA: “The increase in gun sales reaches across racial and ethnic lines, he says. “A lot of black people coming in saying they are afraid of the hooliganism,” he says.”

The reflexive race card is really stale tea…

          • tiredoftea November 10th, 2014 at 11:21 pm

Yes, you are so concerned about equal access to guns, but not so concerned about people who are under threat of violence and a lack of representation as “being a willing victim…”. As if that were a possibility. But, race has nothing to do with it.

          • Bob Cronos November 10th, 2014 at 11:41 pm

13:15 marker. You may want to check your racism at the door. And note the authorship.

Don’t be silly. I listened to the entire twenty minutes, so as to get a sense of where this well-meaning, if meandering, activist is coming from, and wish Day Walker well in his community efforts, but as he makes clear several times, he’s simply recounting what he saw on the news or heard coppers say–

All of which has been in the news since August, especially the doolally antics of the New Black Panthers– and that’s New Black Panthers, by the way, RJ, not Black Panthers.

Stop it. Just stop it. Stop trying to increase tensions in an already volatile situation by disseminating second hand speculation and bullshit innuendo with an arched eyebrow and the self-congratulatory pretense that you know something others don’t.

            It’s unseemly.

In fact, since Williams (our Day Walker) makes the claim that the NBP have “gone on the record” (or maybe he’s saying that’s the claim of “Officer Tim,” it’s typically hard to tell from his unfocused style of speaking) saying that they plan to hand out weapons when the grand jury verdict is announced, perhaps you can remind us exactly where the NBP went “on the record” with this, so we can evaluate this claim for ourselves, rather than relying on tweets of serial liars like, say, Charles C Johnson.

Just curious, would ‘whitey’, ‘doughy white’ and ‘whitetopia’ be considered racial slurs today?

Clearly all you can offer are insults, and nothing of value. You’re done here.
