Kansans Find Out They’re Screwed After Brownback Reelection
The news came, conveniently for Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, a week after he was reelected. His state has a $1 billion shortfall.

The estimates also said the state will use up $380 million in reserves and still have to cut another $280 million for fiscal year 2015 to balance the state’s current budget. In addition, in 2016, revenues are expected to be $436 million short of expenditures according to the forecast.
Altogether it was the latest bit of bleak news for Kansas and Brownback, who won re-election a week ago, defeating House Minority Leader Paul Davis (D).
In late October, just before the election, data showed Kansas’s October tax revenue was 15 percent below previous projections. Tax collections were $23 million short of projections,according to the Associated Press.[su_csky_ad]

The republican austerity experiment continues on in Kansas. This is good in a way. Thick headed stubborn republicans are really hard to convince of the obvious. We need a good example for the republicans to see what the results are of their economic policies.

I would like to make a small correction to your post.
In stead of using future tense in the second part of your sentence, it should be changed to past tense. They have already blamed the President for Brownback’s financial catastrophe.

Moody’s dropped the state from its second-highest rating of Aa1 to its third-highest rating of Aa2. Thirteen other states share the same rating as Kansas. Now 29 states have higher ratings. The last state that Moody’s downgraded was Illinois in June.
The rating cut could lead to higher interest rates on state borrowing, but leading lawmakers said Thursday they didn’t believe that would happen.
Brownback blames the national economic climate and President Obama’s policies for the shortfall.
“What we are seeing today is the effect of tax increases implemented by the Obama administration that resulted in lower income tax payments and a depressed business environment,” Brownback said in a statement.

We might be waiting for quite a while for that to happen, because in the world of the ‘Low Information Nation’ voters, the POTUS has all of the power, even though it is Congress that makes Law.. Congress gives the impression, they are there to “protect their FREEDOM” from the “Black, Kenyan, Marxist, Nazi” in the W.H.
How can anyone fight stupidity/ignorance/racism when the RWNJ’s own such a large share of the media, not to mention the well funded attacks? How is it that, people are so easily duped into ‘voting against their own interests’?
I’m almost as angry at the people who didn’t vote, as I am at the one’s who did!! (I know… sounds a little crazy)
Obama never really had a chance to implement some of his important policies, and, the GOP sure scared a lot of people into voting for their people, and it sure didn’t help much to see cowardly/spineless Democrats RUNNING away from Obama.. and they LOST! I would ALMOST rather see a Republican win than Mary Landrieu… it made me sick listening to what she’s been saying….. Sorry… I went off, I’m still a little angry at voters.

They can’t get away with that this time. Brownback convinced them to eliminate the corporate income tax, in the hopes more companies would move there, they would hire more employees, etc. None of that happened, and the tax collections took a nosedive.

Only about 1/3 of corporations pay any income taxes to begin with, and the rest pay way less than that terrible rate that the Republicans say is killing jobs. (35%).

This is just becoming the most obvious example here in the States. You can look at Europe but that is to hard for the republicans to do, they would be lucky to find Europe on a map.

I have no sympathy for these people. First of all, it’s Kansas. Not the sharpest state in the union, and second, these same people who witnessed Brownback screw up their state, re-elected him. They deserve what they got.

I have to feel sorry for the ones who didn’t vote for him. We have the same thing here in Ohio. The idiot who is screwing everything up got reelected. I didn’t vote for him. But then most people didn’t bother to vote at all.

I live in Illinois – a true blue state. Voter turnout was so bad that Rauner, the republican (who’s known for shipping jobs overseas, and laying off hundreds of workers) won the election. That’s pretty bad.

Here was a state who put Brownback’s opponent way ahead in the polls, and even had Republicans endorsing the Democrat… until it came out that his opponent had been to a strip joint when he was 27.
Then the polls flipped.
