A North Carolina county elections official was arrested Saturday on assault charges against a female.

Officials with the Wilmington Police Department said they received a 911 call from the victim shortly after 10:00 p.m, according to WGHP.

[su_center_ad]When officers arrived on the scene, they said the victim informed them that she had been assaulted by Marvin McFadyen.

Authorities determined after an investigation that they had grounds to arrest McFadyen on assault charges.

Officers said the victim was not taken to the hospital for any injuries she may have suffered.

McFadyen and the victim both lived at the address where the incident took place, police said.

McFadyen is currently being held in jail and will go before a judge Monday morning.
