It’s probably best for Republicans to not discuss ‘negroes,’ women, Hispanics or gay people.

Case in point: Republican Nevada Assemblyman Ira Hansen who was selected as the assembly’s next speaker earlier this month, penned some jaw dropping columns which will make you want to rip your hair from your skull.

[su_center_ad]His long history of racist, sexist and homophobic statements were published by the Reno News Review.

Think Progress reports:

Among other things, as part of a broader statement of support for school vouchers, Hansen claimed that “[t]he relationship of Negroes and Democrats is truly a master-slave relationship, with the benevolent master knowing what’s best for his simple minded darkies.”

According to the News Review, Hansen — wait for it — keeps a Confederate battle flag on his wall, which he says that he flies “proudly in honor and in memory of a great cause and my brave ancestors who fought for that cause.” He also “tends to use the term ‘Negro’ and often does not capitalize it.”

The capitalization of “Negro” seems to mean something to Hansen. The more disparaging the better.

Hansen has also published several columns attacking Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., including one where he claims that “King’s private life was trashy at best. … King Jr. is as low as it gets, a hypocrite, a liar, a phony, and a fraud.” In another piece, he wrote that “[t]he lack of gratitude and the deliberate ignoring of white history in relation to eliminating slavery is a disgrace that Negro leaders should own up to.”

He declared that “women do not belong in the Army or Navy or Marine Corps, except in certain limited fields.” He’s been critical of the “sexual revolution” and the “women’s liberation movement” for encouraging women “to act as foolishly as men.”

On gay people.

And he also claims to have a strange obsession with gay child molesters. He once wrote that he’s “been keeping a rough tally on homosexual/heterosexual molesters as reported locally” and that this inquiry revealed that “and roughly half of all molestations involve homosexual men preying on boys.” As the News Review notes, “Hansen gave no details, nor did he publish his list, nor did he explain how he knew the sexuality of the alleged molesters.”

Add to that, Michele Bachmann referring to immigrants as “illiterate” and it looks like GOP outreach efforts are working out as well as we expected.[su_csky_ad]

Do these nitwits really believe what they say?

    • Hirightnow November 20th, 2014 at 3:25 pm

      Rabidly.

      • tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 3:33 pm

        I find that very disturbing.

        • Hirightnow November 20th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

That’s how you know you’re still human.

          • tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 4:46 pm

My question is why, why do they lie? Racism can not be the only reason

          • mea_mark November 20th, 2014 at 5:00 pm

That’s what their republican parents taught them to do. It’s family tradition, achieve what power you can through lies and deception. Or was that the Devil that taught them that, I forget sometimes.

          • tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 5:17 pm

            lol, seriously…is it just racism?

          • jasperjava November 20th, 2014 at 5:28 pm

It’s not just racism. Conservatism is an evil ideology based on ignorance, stupidity, selfishness, greed, and hatred. Even the few conservatives who are not racist are scum in one way or another.

          • tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 5:30 pm

I have a problem with painting all conservatives as bad, the extremists like the teabaggs are everything you state and more. True cons are true republicans and we need them in our country. Unfortunately they are all hiding right now

          • raincheck November 21st, 2014 at 8:29 am

Define “true republican” and why do “we need them in our Country?

          • mea_mark November 20th, 2014 at 7:12 pm

Well, the republican southern strategy certainly was and it is now tainting the Republican party and most conservatives. Not all conservatives are that bad, just most.

          • raincheck November 21st, 2014 at 8:26 am

            You forgot sociopath….

    • Larry Schmitt November 20th, 2014 at 3:37 pm

If they didn’t, they would merely be liars. Liars we can deal with. They are something much worse. But they also lie regularly.

    • JimmyPete November 20th, 2014 at 3:44 pm

oh yeah, this type of crap used to be the province of late night barroom rants, crazy uncles at Thanksgiving, but with talk radio, the internet, and FOX news it has become mainstream, be afraid be very afraid.

  2. Larry Schmitt November 20th, 2014 at 3:42 pm

Many people have tried to equate homosexuality with pedophilia. A homosexual is no more a pedophile than a heterosexual is. Men who molest boys are criminals, as are men who molest girls. Does he feel better when a man molests a girl, because “at least he wasn’t gay?”

  3. neworleans878 November 20th, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Funny thing is that he probably considers himself to be a better American than most people…especially us commie libs..

The GOP win in the midterms is more astonishing with each passing day. Did all the Democrats stay home?

    • OldLefty November 20th, 2014 at 4:45 pm

Just a big chunk of the 20-50 year olds, because they rarely vote in midterms, and there were no issues, since the prognosticators have been predicting big GOP win since Sep 2012.

    • Lorraine Easterling November 20th, 2014 at 7:23 pm

Most did I believe. I voted but I live in a red state. Alabama

      • Maxx44 November 20th, 2014 at 8:56 pm

I feel for you. I voted too & I live in Georgia.

  6. arc99 November 20th, 2014 at 4:34 pm

please, no lame rationalizations about how this is just one individual.

this is one individual selected by his party for the most senior leadership position in the Nevada state assembly.

in other words, Mr. Hansen cannot be dismissed as some fringe extremist. he has abhorrent views which are clearly stated, and implicitly accepted by the Republican party.

and black folks are supposed to support a party that caters to this garbage?

hey Ben Carson, if by some miracle you are elected President of the United States, maybe you can select this guy as an adviser where his entire job will consist of advising on what is best for the “simple minded darkie” who happens to be President of the United States.

oh and as far as Dr. King is concerned, George Washington was a slaveowner. Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner and a de facto rapist. They are both on Mt. Rushmore. whatever moral shortcomings Martin Luther King may have had in his private life, his ethics are infinitely better than theirs.

    • ExPFCWintergreen November 20th, 2014 at 6:57 pm

That’s exactly right — he was CHOSEN by his Republican peers to lead them, to be the public face of Republicanism in Nevada. And it’s not like he made these comments on some Teabag Skinhead website they can’t claim to have seen; no, he published them in the newspaper. What do you want to bet Anonymous un-hoods him?

      • fahvel November 21st, 2014 at 9:15 am

        depants him and the bobbit.

  7. Dave November 20th, 2014 at 5:11 pm

But they all won….didn’t they? So what is wrong with OUR message to the people? We need new leadership in that department.

  8. Denise November 20th, 2014 at 5:36 pm

I don’t know whose crazier, the people who elect these crazy people, or the crazy people that are elected

    • Lorraine Easterling November 20th, 2014 at 7:20 pm

      Ditto

    • fahvel November 21st, 2014 at 9:14 am

or the people who find it disgusting and do nothing.

  9. tiredoftea November 20th, 2014 at 6:08 pm

Let me guess, he represents the district where Mr. Bundy is still not paying his grazing fees and back taxes, right?

  10. R J November 20th, 2014 at 6:15 pm

To those on the left that love to believe that not all right wingers are racist, I say it is getting harder and harder for you to keep on defending that point of view.

    • searambler November 20th, 2014 at 8:41 pm

I don’t think that EVERY right winger is a racist. But in my experience, every racist is a right winger.

  11. searambler November 20th, 2014 at 8:39 pm

“…and that this inquiry revealed that “and roughly half of all molestations involve homosexual men preying on boys.” As the News Review notes, “Hansen gave no details, nor did he publish his list, nor did he explain how he knew the sexuality of the alleged molesters.”

Nor did he acknowledge that, even if this stat is true (which I doubt), that means that half of all molestations involve straight guys preying on boys. I guess that’s not the same thing in his mind…..

  12. Tim M Murphy November 20th, 2014 at 8:42 pm

Darkies??? Wow I never would have believed that a person elected to a higher office in the 21st century could spout off such racist comments, maybe I’m naïve but…wow

    • Tommy6860 November 20th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

Welcome to the GOP! The 1950s were never more appealing to them as it is now.

  13. tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 8:54 pm

How do you feel now Dems. once again you sat home and whined instead of voting

    • AnthonyLook November 21st, 2014 at 1:40 am

      EDUCATE, share your passion.

  14. Kathy Verbiest Baldock November 21st, 2014 at 12:23 am

I testified and sat thru the transgender hate crime laws in 2013. Hansen was off the hook with his crazy comments, body language and eye rolling.

    Hansen is Nevada’s Stacey Campfield.

    God help us.

    • fahvel November 21st, 2014 at 9:12 am

god’s not going to help anyone – what you people need to do with these racist scum suckers is EXPOSE EXPOSE and never ever let up. Stand in front of the cruds house 24/7 – do something other than come to this site and find compatriots.

  15. Bunya November 21st, 2014 at 2:38 pm

These republicans are trying way too hard to shore up the black and latino vote.
