[su_right_ad]The Senate is threatening to veto what it calls a “weak and and dangerous” deal with Iran. It prefers more sanctions to a deal.

Nearly half of the Senate has signed onto a letter promising to reject a “weak and dangerous deal” with Iran as final negotiations in Vienna approach their Nov. 24 deadline.

Sens. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) authored the letter.

The senators warn that the Obama administration is close to inking a deal that will permit Iran to continue the most controversial aspects of its nuclear program and enable Tehran to build a nuclear weapon in the near future, according to a copy of the letter obtained by theWashington Free Beacon and signed by all 43 Republican senators who backed the Mendendez-Kirk sanctions legislation killed earlier this year by the White House.

The letter was sent to the White House on the heels of forceful comments Wednesday by Iranian leaders insisting that the United States must bow to the country’s “inalienable nuclear rights.”

The senators lash out at Obama for completely ignoring congressional efforts to provide oversight of the deal.

“Your negotiators appear to have disregarded clear expressions from the Senate emphasizing the need for a multi-decade agreements requiring Iran to fully suspend its enrichment and reprocessing activities, to dismantle its illicit nuclear infrastructure, and completely disclose its past work on nuclear weaponization,” the senators wrote to Obama.[su_csky_ad]

Why of course! they are crying and yelling! it would be a major victory for the USA!
and well it`s People elected President! and we all know that the RWNJ`s cannot take that, for some strange reason (well most of know why), some reason they cannot allow the USA to grow and move ahead.
    Sad really, very sad.

Uhm, you know that it’s not the Republican Senate for another few months, right?

      • Obewon November 20th, 2014 at 11:14 am

60 votes are required to Override GOP “threatening to veto” are Sens. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) signed by 43 of 45 Republican senators, Dems have 55 Senators plus both Independents caucusing with Democrats = 57.

You know that requires 3 GOP, right? E.g. On 22 December 2010, the U.S. Senate gave its advice and consent to ratification of the treaty, by a vote of 71 to 26 on the resolution of ratification.[40] Thirteen Republican senators, all 56 Democratic senators, and both Independent senators voted for the treaty.[41] President Obama signed documents completing the U.S. ratification process on 2 February 2011

        Uhm, YEP!

you mean they will not cry and yell or filibuster, put things off until Jan. 2015?

        • R.J. Carter November 20th, 2014 at 12:00 pm

They can try, but they haven’t really shown the backbone in the Senate to go the distance with any of their attempts.

Today’s obstructionists like Rubio unilaterally filibuster everything, threatening “Shutdown” for their Koch Bros and Ed Meese bribing overlord enablers.

I seem to be missing a step here, because I’ve not seen any information that alters the fundamental claim of Iran that it seeks to develop nuclear power plants, as is their right, not nuclear weapons, and the IAEA continues to monitor all nuclear activities in the country.

    What am I missing?

    • Obewon November 20th, 2014 at 12:39 pm

The treaty curtails and mothballs most of Iran’s 10,000 older and newer centrifuges that ‘could be used’ to rapidly enrich uranium, eventually giving Iran the 60 KG required for teeny-tiny nuke, not capable of very much but a flash if successful.

      • granpa.usthai November 20th, 2014 at 1:03 pm

Did anyone do a check on the vast nuclear arsenal of the USA after the Reagan Administration of the ‘Arms for Hostages Deals’? -or an inventory of USSR nuclear subs fully equipped after the return to the ‘Russia’ country name?
Unless Michelle is right about everyone but blonde hair blue eye RepubliCONs being sub human illiterates, I’d have to guess Iran has been nuclear capable for 40 plus years now; maybe not capable of building their own yet, but certainly literate enough to push a big red button.

nothing, teabaggers are now despots to the world

    • Spirit of America November 20th, 2014 at 9:14 pm

The enrichment program which is only used in making bomb-grade material. The detonation program which is not used in nuke power at all, only in making the bombs themselves. Leaving 6k+ centerfuges in place means they can still enrich at a high rate and not addressing the detonation phase means they can still work on their final missing piece.

      • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 8:03 am

You speak in riddles. Let’s take ’em one at a time. What “enrichment program which is only used in making bomb-grade material?”

        Be lucid, please.

        • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 9:26 am

lol, riddles & lucid…. my response was in no way a riddle since it was very lucid.
You asked “what am I missing” after stating ” because I’ve not seen any information that alters the fundamental claim of Iran that it seeks to develop nuclear power plants…not nuclear weapons.”
          What you are missing is:
          1. their enrichment program, which is used only in making nukes
          2. their detonation program, which is used only in making nukes.
You can read up on both from un/us/uk & other sources.

          • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 9:50 am

Again, if they have a nuclear bomb program, it shouldn’t be difficult for you to point to evidence of it. Why don’t you?

          • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 12:17 pm

Tell you what, if you screen shot & post that you tried and couldn’t find the info, I’ll give you some links, fair? I’ll check back in about 24 hours. In the meantime, here’s a read about IAEA’s progress:

S writes: Tell you what, if you screen shot & post that you tried and couldn’t find the info, I’ll give you some links, fair?

You’re asking me to prove a negative, and incidentally, that’s essentially what the IAEA is complaining it has failed to receive from Iran:

“Iran has not provided any explanations that enable the agency to clarify the outstanding practical measures,” it said.

Needless to say this is not evidence that Iran is hard at work on a nuke. It’s your allegation that it is. Quit dancing, and provide evidence to back up your contention.

Alternatively, you could just stop talking nonsense.

          • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 12:43 pm

“You’re asking me to prove a negative,”
No I’m not, I’m saying if you search, you’ll quickly find the facts. But if you’re not willing to do the work, I’m not willing to do it for you. You search, can’t find, I’ll help you out then.

If you’re not willing to work, quit telling other people to do the work for you while you spout silliness.

          • ChrisVosburg November 22nd, 2014 at 12:59 am

I merely ask you to to support your contention with evidence.

Do it, and then I’ll look awfully silly, wont I?

          • Spirit of America November 22nd, 2014 at 3:02 am

I get paid for my work. If you’re interested in the truth, look it up, it is all over the place. If you can’t find it after trying, I’ll help you. You didn’t answer any of my questions pertaining to topic, didn’t agree to my terms for doing your work for you…
            we’re going in circles,
            Have a nice day!

      • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 8:05 am

Next, what “detonation program which is not used in nuke power at all, only in making the bombs themselves?”

  4. Abby Normal November 20th, 2014 at 12:39 pm

That would be lovely, wouldn’t it? Then we could go back to Benny Netanyahoohoo threatening to bomb Iran every other day. The Grand Old Party has really turned sinister since Obama was elected President in 2008. Shutting down the government, threatening to default on our debt and now this. I’d tell you what I really think of the GOP but the only words that come to mind are extremely vulgar and I don’t think they’d be welcome in polite society.

Don’t believe in Hell? Wait until some GOP derelict is elected President in 2016 and the GOP has majorities in the House and Senate. You’ll experience HELL first-hand. We all will.

    China says it’s OK.

  6. Bunya November 20th, 2014 at 1:27 pm

The U.S. has enough nuclear weapons to blow up the planet, yet we need to monitor other countries? Why are other countries forced to trust us, yet we don’t trust them?

    • Spirit of America November 20th, 2014 at 9:10 pm

So more countries w/nuclear weapons is a good thing?

      • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 8:57 am

No, more countries with nuclear weapons is not a good thing, which begs the question Iran has been asking:

Since Iran neither possesses nor desires to build nuclear weapons, why doesn’t the US go rattle Israel’s cage instead?

        Why, Spirit? Why?

        • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 9:28 am

LOL LOL LOL, the whole world but you knows iran has a nuke bomb program. He||, even N Korea is helping them w/it.
Just out of curiosity, if they don’t have a nuke bomb program, why is Kerry working on a treaty to ‘slow down’ their capability to build one?

          • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 9:49 am

If they have a nuclear bomb program, it shouldn’t be difficult for you to point to evidence of it. Why don’t you?

          • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 12:14 pm

No, look it up… google it… from cia site to DoS site, from us papers to european papers…it is all over. It is well known. Again, if not, why are we and other countries engaged in talks to slow it down? You don’t engage in high level talks for something that doesn’t exist.

“IAEA, which monitors all nuclear development in Iran and repeatedly concludes that they are not developing nuclear weapons”
No, they don’t, even their last public report points out they are not allowed into most sites they requested.

          • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 12:36 pm

You forgot to primly tell me that you are not going to do my homework for me, which I believe is the standard response from those asked to provide evidence of a contention and failing to do so.

You can start by providing a quote from the IAEA report which backs up your contention “their last public report points out they are not allowed into most sites they requested.”

            What’s so hard about that?

          • Spirit of America November 21st, 2014 at 12:45 pm

What’s so hard about you doing you’re own work since its been public knowledge for years.
I tell you what, if I provide a link to a nuke weapon program, will you apologize for all of your sarcasm and attempted insults?

          • ChrisVosburg November 21st, 2014 at 1:48 pm

S writes: Keep in mind the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani himself admitted it…

So far as I know, Hassan Rouhani has acknowledged only that Iran abandoned a nuclear arms program over a decade ago, and has reiterated that Iran has no interest in resuming it.

If you know different, please enlighten me.

  7. Maxx44 November 20th, 2014 at 4:23 pm

Of course the obstructionists are going to block the deal. It’s Obama’s deal. That’s the only criterion for blocking it.

  8. tracey marie November 20th, 2014 at 4:53 pm

This teabagg congress believes they were elected to rule the world.
