A Riverside, CA auto mechanic added a grammatically incorrect note to a receipt about how “stupid” his customer was.

[su_center_ad]

“I saw the word ‘stupid’ and I just kind of was like, ‘What?’ And I read it and reread it,” Ruben Rodriguez, who was a customer at George Fritts Auto Repair, told CBS Los Angeles.

Rodriguez wasn’t mistaken. KCAL9 confirmed that the note scribbled at the bottom of the receipt did in fact read: “Customer to stupid to understand normal thinking.”…

When asked by a reporter about the insult, the only comment Fritts made was that he stood by his opinion of Rodriguez.[su_csky_ad]

Sounds like gish galloping. A short slightly abusive comment designed to instigate. Never quite bad enough to ban outright from the get-go but irritating enough to start an argument. It’s a common practice of anti-vaxxers. Many sites have rules about this in the TOS.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 23rd, 2014 at 12:49 pm

            Carla..
I believe you are right…(bad Stoney for taking the troll bait)..

anti-vaxxers? what is that? the people that do not believe in vaccinating? I am sorry, just not too political to begin with

      • Larry Schmitt November 23rd, 2014 at 1:00 pm

In 2012, Riverside County voted for Romney. And it’s utopia.

      • Foundryman November 23rd, 2014 at 1:10 pm

liberal eutopia…ROFL…..Right…More like a tiny atoll in an ocean of right wing extremism…

Oh trust me – sometimes I just ban a reader and say nothing, Nada, zilch, that’s when I’m really angry. Although “Bad Carla” does have a reputation here but it’s been awhile since she’s made an appearance.

          • tiredoftea November 23rd, 2014 at 2:27 pm

Bad Carla comes out to play.

          • Carla Akins November 23rd, 2014 at 4:10 pm

and it looks like Bad Carla may make an evening of it.

      • williamedward November 23rd, 2014 at 3:04 pm

Could be the comment was because of the ethnicity of the customer? Biting the hand hat feeds you. Intelligent.

      • tracey marie November 24th, 2014 at 5:59 am

how did issa get voted in

  4. Foundryman November 23rd, 2014 at 12:32 pm

There was an argument ahead of this note. It looks like the customer complained about a noise, a noise he must have claimed appeared after a previous repair job, he brought the car back in with no gas in it, which means the garage had to put gas in it to run the engine long enough to to get the computer codes. All the codes came back with the proper in range readings. And none of them were related to the noise problem.
And it looks like the mechanic advised him to keep antifreeze(scribbled?) in the radiator on a previous visit which he ignored. The guy sounds like he’s to stupid to understand normal thinking to me too. Which sounds like a typical right wing type voter, but who knows.

    • Carla Akins November 23rd, 2014 at 1:13 pm

I wholeheartedly agree. Whether he should have written down is another story.

      • Foundryman November 23rd, 2014 at 1:15 pm

He didn’t have to leave an insulting comment, agreed. But who knows how many times he has dealt with the guy, and besides, N/C means he didn’t charge him…

      • burqa November 24th, 2014 at 12:47 am

Me too. It was a stupit move to write it down on the customer’s bill.

    • Dwendt44 November 23rd, 2014 at 6:35 pm

Drive it and park it mentality.

I didn’t even catch it – that is funny.

  6. Robert M. Snyder November 23rd, 2014 at 2:00 pm

Was the mechanic’s name “Gruber”? Just wondering…

    • Robert Merrill Taylor November 23rd, 2014 at 2:17 pm

The mechanic’s name was true-blue Canadian “Cruz”.

      • Robert M. Snyder November 23rd, 2014 at 2:44 pm

        Touché!

  7. Robert Merrill Taylor November 23rd, 2014 at 2:19 pm

I have worked in customer service. Some clients are intelligent and astute and some clients made me wonder how they got dressed on the morning.

    • Larry Schmitt November 23rd, 2014 at 2:27 pm

And I feel the same way about some of the people in customer service.

  8. Bunya November 23rd, 2014 at 2:23 pm

It used to be that, “if you can’s say anything nice about someone, then don’t say anything at all”. Now we have people with less than MENSA IQ’s calling others “stupid”. Go figure.

    True story

    • Larry Schmitt November 23rd, 2014 at 2:34 pm

And I knew someone who pronounced the Swedish car “Say-ab.”

      • burqa November 24th, 2014 at 12:43 am

        G. Gordon Liddy used to insist on the German pronunciation of BMW, which came out sounding like “Bay-em-vay.”

  11. Boehner-Monkey November 23rd, 2014 at 4:06 pm

It’s pretty funny in the internet age that bullies can’t get away with the crap that they used to.

  12. heidi jo bean November 24th, 2014 at 12:48 am

And Fritts is too stupid to use the word “too” instead of “to.”
