Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time for being grateful for all that we’ve been blessed with, but according to Fourth Missionary Baptist Church pastor Walter Houston, it’s a day where you can refuse to bury 93-year-old woman because he feels she didn’t give enough.

[su_center_ad]The daughter of 93-year-old Olivia Blair said  Houston refused to bury her mother.

“It was like the last insult in the world,” Barbara Day said, according to KRMG.

Day went on to say that her only wish was for her mother to be buried “in the church that she loved and worshiped all of her life, even as a little girl.”

Day said that her mother was a church member for 50 years but had been sick for nearly a decade, and in a coma for the last 24 months.

Preacher watchdog Tyrone Jacques met with Houston to ask him to reconsider burying the elderly woman.

Houston refused and told him Blair was, “no longer a member of the church because she had not supported it financially in the last 10 years.”

Day said,  “All they care about is getting money money money money money!”

Even after Jacques offered to pay for the funeral service, Houston refused.

When he asked why he said Houston responded, “Membership has its privileges.”

“Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do”, or something like that?

      • Larry Schmitt November 26th, 2014 at 8:36 pm

No, more along the lines of that preacher from a few years ago: God damn him!

That should be, “Forgive them father, for they know what they want”. 😛

    • Tommy6860 November 26th, 2014 at 9:46 pm

We know there’s a real thing called “The cost living”, but this takes the cake.

Once did some electrical work at a church; overheard the head guy telling his people that it was “A business, and we can’t afford to lose money”.
Guy had a nice suit on…

My pastor comes out sometimes wearing a bow tie and shorts. He’s a down to earth guy, highly intelligent, and he practices what he preaches. Crazy, HUH?

          • Hirightnow November 26th, 2014 at 10:51 pm

            BLASPHEMY!
How will his parishioners know the bounty that the Lord bestoweth upon His servants, if he doesn’t wear Armani and drive a Navigator?

IKR? I really need to have a talk with him.

            Well, don’t be discouraged, but
I speak to Him every day, and He has yet to mention you…

Tell him he’s slacking, and you want a better class of pastor, lest you wind up in Heaven with the “wrong sort”…

They both need a stern talking to. We can’t have Christians walking around acting like Christians.

That is what he said in essence..poverty…damn paid his own hotel bill after election…drives a old Peugot when he can …lives simply and takes to task those in the church that don’t do likewise.

      Always appropriate.

A priest, a minister and a rabbi were discussing how they handled their
collections. The priest says, “I draw a line on the ground, and throw
all the money in the air. Whatever falls on one side is mine, and
whatever falls on the other side is God’s. The minister says, “I draw a
circle, and throw the money up. Whatever falls in the circle is God’s,
whatever falls outside is mine. The rabbi says, “I throw all the money
in the air. Whatever God wants, he can keep.”

The new Archbishop in Chicago is quite the liberal. He said he instructed his followers to stop trashing gays and terrorizing women in crisis and spend their time helping those less fortunate. Shockingly, he said he won’t move into the cardinal’s $4.3 million palatial mansion along the gold coast and stay at the cathedral.

What is happening to the Catholic church? Is it possible they’re being overrun by followers of Christ?

    • Larry Schmitt November 27th, 2014 at 1:17 pm

But they still have a $4m house that they don’t pay tax on. I’ll be impressed when he sells it and uses the proceeds to help the poor. Lots of poor in Chicago.

      • Bunya November 28th, 2014 at 11:31 pm

I agree, but it’s a start and I hope it continues.

Would it matter if the deceased had really “supported” the church financially?

  14. Colleen Benboe Marriott January 11th, 2015 at 3:52 pm

Shame on him, God must be so disappointed in this person!
