After 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by police in Cleveland, neither of the officers administered first aid to the child, according to officials.

[su_center_ad]Talking Points Memo reports:

It took almost four minutes before a detective and an FBI agent arrived on the scene and administered first aid on the boy, who was eventually rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries, local station WEWS‑TV reported.

Officer Timothy Loehmann shot Rice on Saturday after he and another officer pulled up to a gazebo where Rice had been spotted playing with a toy gun. Police say the two were unaware of Rice’s age and that the gun was harmless.

Authorities released video of the shooting on Wednesday at the behest of Rice’s parents.

The footage revealed the few seconds it took for the officers to pull up their car and shoot Rice down. It did not show the following minutes in which they reportedly failed to administer first aid.

Both officers are under investigation.

Naturally, there’s already a smear campaign in motion against the victim and his family. That happened with Trayvon Martin, then with Michael Brown, so why not Tamir Rice, too. [su_csky_ad]

How about making toy guns look like toy guns, so they can’t be at all mistaken for real ones?

Silver colored six shooters like we had back in my day would be a lot better then whats on the market today.

I used to have one that looked just like that.

          • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 5:46 pm

            Just like it…
            and others..

            Hey..
Don’t be reachin into your waistband..
is that a cap gun or a cell phone??
never mind, I was in fear of my life..;(

Don’t be reaching into your jacket for a wallet either…41 shots may be coming your way.

          Yep.

I agree, the gun should be orange not just the tip. But this is the 2nd case where police did not allow time for a “suspect” to respond to their order. In this case as well as John Crawford the shooting started before they stopped speaking. I didn’t find this video clear enough to make out a lot, but I can count. In both cases, the police appear to be reacting, almost out of fear, panicking. This does not inspire confidence.

Orange is the first step. It should also be oversized (or undersized) and have protruberances that make no sense. (Otherwise, some idiot’s just going to paint a real gun orange and then… you can do the math.)

        • Carla Akins November 29th, 2014 at 3:45 pm

          You’re right.

        • mea_mark November 29th, 2014 at 4:58 pm

Iridescent glow in the dark orange might be enough to keep anyone from really wanting to copy that. Criminals really don’t want their weapons to be glaringly obvious, even if they look like a toy.

        • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 5:43 pm

Toy guns are just a bad idea…
I dont care what color they are, of if they glow in the dark…
There are better things kids can play with.

    • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 4:39 pm

      I know…
getting rid of guns altogether is out of the question..
      Or is it?

      • R.J. Carter November 29th, 2014 at 8:13 pm

        Yes, it is.
Unless, somehow, it’s absolutely possible to get millions of weapons off the streets, but simultaneously completely unfeasible to deport millions of illegal aliens.

        • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 8:18 pm

I guess getting rid of all the guns is….
          Wait for it…
          Another Obama failure..;)

No, he never stood a chance to begin with..

Can we start with the Illegal Aliens ???

    • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 4:53 pm

When I was a kid growing up in the 1960’s..
We all brandished cap pistols and plastic rifles..

I never remember hearing of ‘accidental’ police shootings of children because they were acting out scenes from The Rifle Man, or Combat, or playing Vietnam like I did when I was a little kid..

  2. mea_mark November 29th, 2014 at 3:35 pm

Of course not, if he had lived he would of testified against them. They knew they didn’t do their job the right way. The last thing they want is somebody testifying against them and dead people don’t talk.

    • StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 4:46 pm

      Key words…
      “dead people dont talk”…
And cannot give evidence to the contrary of official police testimony.

  3. StoneyCurtisll November 29th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

I wonder how hard it was to “pry the toy gun out of Tamir Rice’s cold dead hand”..
    Where was Charleston Heston?..
    Or Wayne Lapee-air?

  4. allison1050 November 30th, 2014 at 1:07 am

I’d would have been surprised if they had administered first aid.

  5. tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 4:56 pm

right, because that small angel faced little boy looked dangerous to both cops with their guns out
