Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Rep. Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, attacked the President’s children, Malia and Sasha, in a jaw dropping Facebook post in which she said the kids should “try showing a little class.” NBC reports that Lauten is resigning over her comments.

[su_center_ad]Lauten, also known as @DCGopGirl on Twitter, has been catching a lot of flack for her remarks.

GOP Staffer Elizabeth Lauten tells NBC News she is “resigning today” following her comments about Sasha and Malia Obama.

Lauten made the typical non-apology apology on Facebook following a backlash over her remarks. She either made that apology private or deleted it after posting it.

She wrote in part, “After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents and re-reading my words online, I can see more clearly how hurtful my words were.”

Why does it take “hours of prayer” to understand that children are hands off?[su_csky_ad]

Yeah, but they’re kinda like dust mites – a new one will claw to the top of the pile…

Yep, you are right, sadly. They are kind of like a fungus, you do everything to get rid of them and they keep growing in the dark, damp corners, LOL

Yes – not everyone can show true class like W’s daughters did.

Her former boss, Fincher, is no prize, either.

Questions have been raised about Rep. Fincher’s finances since early on in his campaign.

He claimed to have almost no assets at the start of his campaign, and has since filed multiple inconsistent financial disclosure forms, revealing significantly greater assets.

Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-TN) is a first-term member of Congress, representing Tennessee’s 8th congressional district.

She better pray to her lawyer that her 4 down GOP websites comeback up after GoDaddy told her ‘they had no idea what was wrong.’ the lord works in mysterious ways. The karma God deleted her accounts!

I was only kidding and teasing them. I chose not to go to the sites that fight, I am tired of the nastiness. This site is pretty good, mostly even tempered and nice people who can disagree without using the f bomb all the time

            Agree.
Even our resident gun lover (PistolPacking) keeps it civil and intelligent, without resorting to name-calling and parroted talking points.

  5. Guy Lauten December 1st, 2014 at 10:20 am

Hey Liz, maybe you shouldn’t hang out with people who judge others all the time. Maybe you should choose your friends a little more carefully. Maybe you should think BEFORE you open your piehole to emit more Joe Walsh idiocy.

    • marecek21 December 1st, 2014 at 12:00 pm

      Relative or yours?

      • Guy Lauten December 1st, 2014 at 4:19 pm

Not to my knowledge. Small favors.

  6. arc99 December 1st, 2014 at 10:25 am

and please right wingers, no whining about “political correctness”. you people squeal like stuck pigs, demanding firings and resignations when your little fee-fees get hurt.

    http://www.adweek.com/news/television/msnbc-twitter-manager-fired-saying-rightwing-will-hate-interracial-cheerios-ad-155367

Cheerios announced a cute sequel to its surprisingly controversial 2013 ad featuring an interracial family (the original is adorable) and though it’s only a day old, it has already generated its first firing. MSNBC tweeted ““Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family” on Wednesday and RNC chairman Reince Priebus immediately said he was forbidding any Republicans from appearing on the network in response.

  8. Dave December 1st, 2014 at 10:35 am

So when does she start on FOX as a “teenage expert”?

    • marecek21 December 1st, 2014 at 11:59 am

She qualifies as an “expert commentator” because she has drunken the kool-aide and is willing to spew any lie whatsoever about the Obama family.

  10. Anomaly 100 December 1st, 2014 at 10:48 am

    Dear Ms. Lauten,

  11. Dude December 1st, 2014 at 11:02 am

Evidently, she didn’t spend many hours of prayer before she clicked “Post.”

  12. idahogie December 1st, 2014 at 11:33 am

She should be resigning for different reasons. Her comments about the girls were classless and petty. But her comments about the President were delusional. The latter should be a firing offense. But in today’s extremist GOP, those insane views of the President are almost a requirement.

  13. marecek21 December 1st, 2014 at 12:02 pm

I wouldn’t put all blame upon Ms. Lauten. Her conduct is in part due to the ethos currently prevailing in the GOP: they are all competing to see who can be most outrageous in spewing lies and nonsense against the President. Is it any wonder that this shit gets out of hand?

  14. R.J. Carter December 1st, 2014 at 12:19 pm

    Good.

  15. Kimberly B Stone December 1st, 2014 at 12:22 pm

Quitting to go to work for Fox News, no doubt.

  16. Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 12:32 pm

Personally, president’s children should be off limits. But if our presidents do something that is worthy of criticism, then so be it.

But as @AnomalyOneHundred:disqus always says. I am always “WRONG”

    • Ed Schirm December 1st, 2014 at 1:04 pm

      Asshole

    • SarahD December 1st, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Well, you’re certainly wrong on this one, “Susie,” and perhaps you should have done, oh I don’t know, even 30 seconds of research online before posting the photo above. Tell me, in all honesty, that saluting with a coffee cup in hand is worse than doing so with your face buried in a dog’s fur, as shown in the photos posted below. Were you equally critical of Bush’s Scottie Dog Salute? Did you even know it happened? Probably not, since it was never front page news the way the ridiculous “Lattegate” was. Embarrassed yet? You should be.

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Nope, not embarrassed at all. As I thought I was pretty clear. When “OUR” presidents do something that deserves criticism, then they should be handed it. And yes, I am aware of the Bush/Scottie picture. I just liked the Obama/Coffee cup better…

And I still think that the presidents children should be off limits. they did not ask to be there, nor did they run an election to go under that scrutiny.

    • tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 2:21 pm

oh please, white presidents did worse, stop already mike

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 2:34 pm

I guess you decided to make this a Race issue ???

Here is the problem in a nutshell, whether you want to agree or disagree. The internet was not as prolific 10 years ago as it is now. No Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or for that matter Liberaland. Images and news are retrieved from handheld devices, versus actually having to pick up a newspaper, and with the unlimited space available. there is no shortage.

        • tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 2:39 pm

the fat white racist goptp made it a race issues

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 3:11 pm

Apparently you did in this conversation.

    • William December 1st, 2014 at 3:30 pm

“But if our presidents do something that is worthy of criticism, then so be it”.
      Oh please….
You really want to go there?

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 3:55 pm

        Ummmmmm. Yes, lets go there…

One person holding a live animal (20 Times the size of the Latte) while still issuing a proper military salute.

One holding a styrofoam cup of coffee, Which could easily have been passed to the opposite hand.

        So, yes, lets go there.

        • William December 1st, 2014 at 4:01 pm

I spent 20 years, 6 months and 13 days in the military service of the United States of America, and I can assure you with absolute authority that saluting with half your faced buried in the neck of a dog is not, has never been and never will be a proper military salute.
          But thanks for trying.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 4:15 pm

First, thank you for your service. Second, I will agree that having your face buried in a dogs neck will make it difficult to give a complete and full military salute. third, it is still better then the “lat-ute”

          • tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 7:09 pm

being white makes it acceptable to you

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 7:44 pm

Still trying to play that race card i see…

          • tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 8:00 pm

            still a racist i see

          • Anomaly 100 December 1st, 2014 at 8:04 pm

For the record, I’ve never seen you act in a racist manner in the comment threads. Just thought I’d mention that.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 8:12 pm

          • whatthe46 December 1st, 2014 at 10:16 pm

YOU SAID IT. SINCE HE WON’T.

        • Hirightnow December 1st, 2014 at 4:12 pm

          But,the salute is ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY.
Bush,Bush,Clinton,Obama, Reagan….none of them were required to salute.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 4:21 pm

True, it is done as a sign of respect.

          • Hirightnow December 1st, 2014 at 4:24 pm

            Exactly.
Acknowledgement of any sort from the CiC should be enough. Whinging about how the POTUS wasn’t standing stiff-backed and facing Old Glory when he saluted are pointless distractions at best.
If, in my USN days, the President even nodded at me while I stood at attention, I would have considered it an singular honor. (There was never a chance of it happening, and, to tell you a secret, that President would have been Reagan. Still…)

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 4:32 pm

Morally, our military was so devastated at that time. I think it took small actions such as these to start bringing moral back up.

      • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 1st, 2014 at 4:04 pm

Now if you really want to get into it. Lets go to the datebook. Bush had his Moment in 2001. There was no facebook, twitter, liberland, etc… So most people would have never even known it happened. Fast forward 13 years, and look at how instantaneous news gets out through social media.

      • tracey marie December 1st, 2014 at 7:07 pm

This was a breach of protocol by President Obama. It’s customary to salute holding a dog, not a cup of coffee. The president should be strongly reprimanded – then impeached!

    • Kelsey Cheyenne Wright December 1st, 2014 at 12:56 pm

Ha. This speaks to your character. Sadly, though, your just stating an opinion. Similar to what she said. So you can choose to look at this one of two ways. First, youre doing excatly what youre judging her over, simply just different context/situation, sure. Second, did that tactic of punishment do you any good as an adult?

      • AuntySocial December 2nd, 2014 at 10:09 am

I’m not a shoplifting drunk questioning the character of two outstanding young ladies.

  18. Bunya December 1st, 2014 at 1:47 pm

Personally, I think she jumped the gun. She didn’t need to resign. All she had to do was say that republican Jesus forgave her for her tasteless remarks, and continue on with business as usual. Hey, it worked for other well-known GOPers, like David “diaperman” Vitter and Mark “hiking the ol’ Appalachian trail” Sanford.

  24. Sydney December 1st, 2014 at 7:22 pm

Ah yes, Elizabeth Lauten, who shoplifted from Belk’s at the age of 17 years old. She was arrested, charges dropped.
Lauten went on to become a press secretary for Joe Walsh…Joe Walsh !
And she writes, ““try showing a little class.”

    Are you kidding me?

I’m sure the President’s daughters can do without your advice, Lauten.

No, it ain’t her fault. She’s the victim here…clearly. She said Jeeeeeebus didn’t tell her to be a decent human being until after she posted a public attack against children. How was she supposed to know to be humane, compassionate and civil until Jeeeeeeebus told her to be that way? Hmmmm??? What, is that somethin’ one figures out on their own as they mature?? I suppose her parents shoulda taught her that??? No, Jeeebus was testing her…yeah, that’s the ticket…Jeeebus was testing her and….she passed…because….something, something….prayed to Jeeeeeebus!!!

      They say that about EVERYBODY.
Even when the older Bush girls were misbehaving so badly, they were off limits.
