Charles Barkley: Blacks ‘Have A Lot Of Crooks…There’s A Reason They Racially Profile Us’
[su_right_ad]Former NBA star and current Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley continues to be outspoken in the wake of the Ferguson verdict.
In an interview with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin on Tuesday, Barkley repeatedly came back to one point: He doesn’t believe that white cops are out to shoot black people because of racism.

“That’s ridiculous,” he said.Barkley called for dialogue, and not just after a controversial incident like the Michael Brown shooting.
“We never discuss race in this country until something bad happens,” he said. And even then it usually reflects a “tribe mentality…
“We as black people, we have a lot of crooks. We can’t just wait until something like (the Brown shooting) happens. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror,” he said of people in black communities. “There is a reason that they racially profile us in the way they do. I find it a little more than bizarre that we live in such an amazing time with all this science and knowledge about how PTSD and chronic depression effect the brain, and yet…here we are, completely ignoring the effects of racism. We’re still having this superficial discussion based on Puritan beliefs that everything can be solved with Gods guidance and a good moral character.
WTF is wrong with us? Have we reached peat humanity? It’s never going to get any better than this?

It is the great undoing. How can we move into the future with antiquated beliefs and institutions that hold us back. It’s simply a time of letting go, some of us just don’t want to let go, so it is difficult.

Innocent until proven guilty exists precisely because of the fact that sometimes assuming guilt is wrong, and sometimes it’s right.
