[su_right_ad]Former NBA star and current Turner Sports analyst Charles Barkley continues to be outspoken in the wake of the Ferguson verdict.

In an interview with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin on Tuesday, Barkley repeatedly came back to one point: He doesn’t believe that white cops are out to shoot black people because of racism.

‘I am a strong black man and I can handle this’

Jones: Barkley Inflammatory, irresponsible
“That’s ridiculous,” he said.

Barkley called for dialogue, and not just after a controversial incident like the Michael Brown shooting.

“We never discuss race in this country until something bad happens,” he said. And even then it usually reflects a “tribe mentality…

“We as black people, we have a lot of crooks. We can’t just wait until something like (the Brown shooting) happens. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror,” he said of people in black communities. “There is a reason that they racially profile us in the way they do. Sometimes it is wrong, and sometimes it is right.[su_csky_ad]

I don’t think the idiot has a clue as to what oppression is.

I find it a little more than bizarre that we live in such an amazing time with all this science and knowledge about how PTSD and chronic depression effect the brain, and yet…here we are, completely ignoring the effects of racism. We’re still having this superficial discussion based on Puritan beliefs that everything can be solved with Gods guidance and a good moral character.

WTF is wrong with us? Have we reached peat humanity? It’s never going to get any better than this?

      • mea_mark December 3rd, 2014 at 8:12 pm

It is the great undoing. How can we move into the future with antiquated beliefs and institutions that hold us back. It’s simply a time of letting go, some of us just don’t want to let go, so it is difficult.

I’m getting impatient. Where’s the Age of Aquarius I was promised!

Moving into the future, how are we to improve on the system that we have? And what exactly is wrong with it and how can it be changed for the better, without throwing in new problems?

“We never discuss race in this country until something bad happens,”, he is right about that.

    • mea_mark December 3rd, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Bad things happen everyday though. It is just hitting the level where it is becoming cathartic.

If you want to talk about race,no right winger can be at the table.

    • R.J. Carter December 4th, 2014 at 9:58 am

Yes, if you want to talk about race, you need an echo chamber. That’s always effective. #yesthatwassarcasm

    like you?

    • whatthe46 December 3rd, 2014 at 8:03 pm

      don’t tell him that.

  5. jasperjava December 3rd, 2014 at 8:14 pm

If a white broadcaster said the same thing, he would be fired on the spot. Racism is not okay, even if it comes from a Black man.

As much as you all want to call him an idiot, scumbag and uncle tom. he is right on many levels.

So he’s wrong on every level?

        Please proceed…

Charles Barkley, like many other hard working black citizens, is probably tired of being stereotyped by allowing the AL Sharptons of the world to use and make a fool of him.

    • tracey marie December 21st, 2014 at 8:07 pm

You admire barkely who hads done nothing in his life that deserves your respect yet attack Mr. Sharpton, one of the original civil rights activists. pathetic

      • Carolina Trucker December 22nd, 2014 at 5:24 am

Al Sharpton has done nothing but pad his pockets through extortion by using the threat of labeling people racist. He owes over 4 million in taxes! Lying conniving crook! Any white man who owed that would be getting property seized

        • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 1:18 pm

there it is, the white man meme….your hood is showing

          • Carolina Trucker December 22nd, 2014 at 4:14 pm

All I’m saying is it must help to have friends in high places (84 visits to the Obama Whitehouse) when you owe 4 million in unpaid taxes. Wow there must be big money in the race hustling business! I thought Obama was all about making the rich pay their fair share. Time for mega bucks AL Sharpton to fork it over.

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 4:39 pm

rotflmao…. you just double down on your racist filth.

          • Carolina Trucker December 22nd, 2014 at 6:05 pm

What racist filth? The man has gained enormous wealth and has been dead wrong in almost every case he has taken up as a cause. This makes me question his motives. He directly caused a man’s death in the “Freddy’s Fashion Mart” debacle in Harlem and turns out the Jewish man he despised was only a property manager acting on behalf of a black owner. Oops. Maybe he should check his facts before he goes inciting riots with his bullschit bullhorn.

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 6:07 pm

you are a teabagg, racist and disgusting. I will never respond to you again, you make me feel dirty.

          • Carolina Trucker December 22nd, 2014 at 10:33 pm

I haven’t said anything racist. Sorry if you feel that way.

  9. Aielyn December 4th, 2014 at 7:46 am

“Sometimes it is wrong, and sometimes it is right.” – exactly, and that’s why you shouldn’t do it. Innocent until proven guilty exists precisely because of the fact that sometimes assuming guilt is wrong, and sometimes it’s right. Even if it’s only wrong once in a hundred times, that’s still too high to justify assuming guilt.

Sir Charles isn’t the only one expressing similar opinions. Some people who aren’t as famous as him are also taking to the web with the message.

  11. fancypants December 5th, 2014 at 6:54 am

I came across this video of sir Charles telling his coworkers how he can choke someone out. Looks like shaq called his bluff lol
