NYPD’s Tone Deaf #WeHearYou Tweet Backfires
After a grand jury voted to not indict Daniel Pantaleo, the white New York City police officer who held Eric Garner in a chokehold which resulted in his death, the hashtag #ICantBreathe was trending in support of the deceased man who told police 11 times that he he couldn’t breathe.
So, the NYPD sent out this tone deaf tweet which went over about as well as you’d expect.

…and we HEARD EricGarner say, “I can’t breathe” and we SAW you continue to apply excessive force, continue a chokehold and WATCHED a man lose his life due to these illegal tactics. Now, you need to hear this, the NYPD needs to be held accountable for this loss of life and I believe the DOJ will be the one to do this.

I have two friends who are Leo’s, one posts on FB his support for Ferguson pd and the other his wife who does the same. I love them and their families dearly but after this summer find it difficult to not mention what douches they are to be so wholly supportive for what has transpired.

Sir, do not misunderstand that toxic is toxic, regardless of the packaging. I had to do the same with my father and a younger brother. Respect for humanity surpasses all other considerations in life. So few understand anything about such things.
