The black father of four, Rumain Brisbon, was shot to death by an officer in Arizona who thought his bottle of pills was a gun.

About 100 protestors marched to police headquarters in Phoenix Thursday, demanding the department release the name of the officer who shot Brisbon. A spokesperson reportedly defended the shooting, saying, “This one went bad from the standpoint of how it ended, but the officer was doing exactly what we want him to do.”

Parts of the official police story have been challenged by some witnesses, the Arizona Republic reports.

According to police, a citizen reported a drug deal in a black SUV around 6 p.m. The officers went to investigate the car, where they saw Brisbon taking something out of the trunk. When they told him to put his hands up, cops say, he put his hands in his waistband, prompting one officer, a 30-year-old with seven years on the force, to pull out his gun. Then, the cops say, Brisbon tried to flee and the officer chased him down…

“It was so loud, I heard the vibration through the floor,” Martin Rangel, who lives above the apartment where the shooting occurred, told the Arizona Republic. “I ran to the window, and that’s when I saw the cop running out, or like, walking out, and he was cussing, you know, he was screaming, ‘F—k, f—k,’ like upset that he shot the guy.”

Another witness, Brandon Dickerson, told the Arizona Republic he didn’t see the officer try to talk to Brisbon before the confrontation began. An attorney for the family said “numerous witnesses” would refute parts of the official story.[su_csky_ad]

    —————————————————————————————————————-
Really, this is what you want them to do, to shoot unarmed Blacks?

    • Gindy51 December 5th, 2014 at 12:49 pm

Now you know the real agenda.

    • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 1:46 pm

at what point would an officer actually know he was not armed… Here is a hint. After the event has ended.

      • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 2:13 pm

Like I asked previously, how many open carry thugs have been approached by cops w/their guns drawn?

        • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 2:22 pm

the first question one would have to ask. Was open carry of the firearm legal? Was the person carrying the firearm in a hostile or threatening manner? If the answer to the first question is yes, and the second question is no. then I would probably say, it has not been done.

          • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 2:24 pm

Tamir Rice was shot w/in 3 seconds of the murderer pulling up, Ohio is open carry isn’t it?

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 2:33 pm

I believe it is. Difference in your scenario is, that Tamir Rice was witnessed pointing the pistol at people. That would be considered threatening. Which is the reason why the police were called in the first place.

          • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 2:39 pm

And even the caller knew it was a TOY, same with the man w/a toy sword and the walmart shopper, please give me your twitter handle so I can say what I really think about your defense of these killer cops.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 2:49 pm

yes, I heard the call where the person said he believed the gun was a toy. Although, that still does not change the scenario.

Regarding the walmart shopper. You wont get an argument out of me on that one. that poor guy was basically “SWATTED”. Was in by no means holding the airrifle in any threatening manner what so over. But yet, an over zealous caller said he was. That officer who was behind cover, did not have to shoot. I will agree with you on that one.

I am not familiar enough about the man with the toy story to comment. Got a link to a news article?

Twitter handle is @ppacking or you can search by name. Pistol-packing. I am sure you will find me.

What do you call “RIOTERS AND LOOTERS”???

I am all for peaceful protest. In matter of fact, do it myself often. But when it turns into rioting, and burning the place down, and smashing into stores to steal what is not yours. you just sunk to a new level.

          • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 3:27 pm

Yea the gov really put a stop to that didn’t he oops maybe not. btw how many were arrested that night.
While you at it compare the reaction of LA winning the nba championship, the Montreal reaction to winning the Stanley Cup and the recent pumpkinfest in NH and tell me who the real animals are?

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Funny. I was just reading the Montreal reaction on your timeline. I have said the same thing about that. I think that is equal and utterly disgusting. You wont get an argument out of me about that.

  2. mea_mark December 5th, 2014 at 10:09 am

As long as it is easy to get away with murder, the police will kill. There must be consequences.

    • CHOCOL8MILK December 5th, 2014 at 11:05 am

That is the problem, there is no accountability for these bad apples/idiots who make good cops look bad. Sadly, not indicting cases such as this is reinforcing the “bully mentality” culture that police officers are always right and their actions should not be questioned.

  3. crc3 December 5th, 2014 at 10:40 am

Here we go again. Probably another grand jury that will decide not to indict. When is the Justice Department going to take over and start dictating laws to protect innocent victims and prosecute officers? First and foremost eliminate grand juries in these types of cases and bring officers to a REAL trial with REAL juries and REAL judges…not some prosecutor’s selected jury and evidence…

  4. CHOCOL8MILK December 5th, 2014 at 11:01 am

” He put his hands in his waistband”…right…hmm…this is a guess on my part but that cop is lying. Why would Mr. Brisbon do a fake gun move in front of a cop? Honestly, next will come the “I felt threatened for my life” routine. To be honest, the cop in question went for the waistband excuse initially before knowing the victims character. His statement will backfire, and I hope this does not become another case where a Grand Jury chooses not to prosecute.

Also, I wonder when the vilifying of the victim routine will start…

  5. John Henry December 5th, 2014 at 11:07 am

Is Arizona looking for attention, or is it that the world, has just started looking?

Yes, we have a police and gun problem in America.

    • fahvel December 5th, 2014 at 11:31 am

the world is looking – the standard for cops is lower – and you sure do have a gun problem.

  6. StoneyCurtisll December 5th, 2014 at 11:08 am

This seems to be an all to familiar pattern.

  7. edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 11:10 am

News Flash for cops…if you feel threatened every time you are out of the station….QUIT YOUR FU(KING JOB, HOW DO YOU THINK WE FEEL WHEN WE SEE YOU

  9. mycatsmom December 5th, 2014 at 11:52 am

Would someone please tell me why Plan X (shoot to kill) is automatically taken instead of trying a taser, a ticket/citation, a friendly chat, etc.? Or do they all sign a secret KILL order before leaving the station?

    • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 11:59 am

To answer your question I’ll have to ask one of you….How many open carry thugs have been approached by a cop with his gun out?

    • Carla Akins December 5th, 2014 at 12:01 pm

Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1 (1985)[1], was a case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that under the Fourth Amendment, when a law enforcement officer is pursuing a fleeing suspect, he or she may use deadly force to prevent escape ONLY if the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.

    • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 1:45 pm

Suspect had already escalated past that point. By fleeing and then fighting with officer.

      • edmeyer_able December 5th, 2014 at 4:22 pm

“All these black men would be alive today if they just obeyed the cops” says the white guy who supports cliven bundy.

        • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 4:34 pm

Hmmm, thats funny. I dont actually remember supporting him… Guess that is something you made up in your head to support your pre-conceived notion.

But I do support the following…

Hmmmm, felt like it was pointed towards me…

But I still support “No Bra Day”

    • whatthe46 December 5th, 2014 at 3:51 pm

They could have simply said, can we talk to
you. That would have been the just of
it. Can’t go into the trunk of your
car, can’t carry medication with you.

  10. Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 1:44 pm

Play Stupid Games – Win Stupid Prizes !!!

    WTF??? Seriously people ???

Officer responds to call of person selling drugs from vehicle. Suspect told keep hands visible. Suspect flees and runs into apartment building, Officer gives Chase. A struggle between officer and suspect ensues. Officer and suspect crashes through door of apartment. Suspect places hand into pocket. Told, do not remove hand. Suspect does not listen and removes hand. Officer shoots suspect in torso, because something was in his hand. Officer seen distraught and shouting F*&% F*&%

After event, suspect identified, has felony record. Semi-auto pistol and jar of marijuana found in vehicle.

Should officer have waited to see that suspect only pulled out a bottle of pills? Or was he right to take action, out of fear that suspect truly had a weapon?? Who is at fault?

Well, golly geeeee, let me think about this. The dumbass who decided to run from the police, and then get into a fight with them !!! DUHHHHHH !!! But yet, Gawker wants to use, nice family photo as we are supposed to sympathize for this asshat. Would you be “Hi-Fiving” if the story read “Officer killed on duty while apprehending suspected Drug Dealer” ???

And Yes, I know I owe all of my “Raving Fans” a reply from the thread two days ago. Sorry, I was off the grid yesterday, and will get back to you. Have a nice day….

  11. Bunya December 5th, 2014 at 1:54 pm

He was only reaching for his pills!!!
    .
Geez. You’d think the poor man was reaching for Skittles and/or iced tea, the way the cop responded.

    • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 2:06 pm

After Fleeing and fighting with officer…

Should the cop had offered to get him a drink of water first?

      • whatthe46 December 5th, 2014 at 3:49 pm

where did you read “fighting” with the officer? and fleeing is the cops version. we didn’t read the version of the witnesess. again, you will dismiss the witnesses versions because they are black
right? so, now the cops are afraid of
fk’n medication bottles. if they can’t
tell the difference between a wallet, cell phone or a pill bottle, they need not be on the force. but, you don’t care that another family has
lost a loved one. How sad.

Which witness you want to talk about. The woman’s whose door these two men tumbled through?? I am sure she is lying about the whole scenario??

Riddle me this Batman. If this was an incident that was taking place out on the street in a car. How did they wind up in this woman’s apartment??

        • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 4:24 pm

here, you might want to read an interesting tidbit as well.

Shooting The Unarmed Man – The Fallacy Of Modern Perception

          “He shot an unarmed man!”

“He wasn’t armed! Police had no reason to shoot him!”

How often have we heard those screams from an angry community? Trayvon Martin may be the first to come mind but it happens more often than most people think. Kansas City firefighter Anthony Bruno, unarmed and drunk, was shot and killed by an off duty police officer. And, of course, the most recent case of Michael Brown in St. Louis, Missouri.

The problem with the public outcry and the rioting in pursuit of “JUSTICE” is that most people know exactly nothing about physical combat and life threatening situations. They assume that if a person is unarmed that deadly force cannot and should not be employed. And they are wrong.

          http://ross-elder.com/2014/08/11/shooting-the-unarmed-man-the-fallacy-of-modern-perception/

      • Bunya December 5th, 2014 at 3:52 pm

I was being facetious, like in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin fiasco.
That being said, he could have tazered on him. It just seems to me the cops nowadays are way too quick to shoot first and ask questions later.

        • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Let me ask you a question. lets say it is you who is n the fight. And lets just say, that the account of the officer is accurate, and that they were fighting. What is the first thing you are going to grab??

          • Bunya December 5th, 2014 at 4:42 pm

If I were the victim or the cop, I’d prefer the tazer .
Why, you ask? Because death is final and, if I were a cop who just killed somebody when I had another choice, the guilt would haunt me for the rest of my life.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 5:35 pm

here is where I am going to disagree with you. By employing a taser, you have just one chance. If you miss, or the person has thick clothes, and the barb cant get through. You are basically F’D…

          • mea_mark December 5th, 2014 at 5:47 pm

Maybe at some point they will make an air pistol that shoots bullets with batteries in them that do the same thing as a taser. That way you could have several rounds to fire. Regardless, something besides the typical handgun that fires lead objects into peoples bodies needs to be used. It is time for change and we should have the technology now to do something that is a lot more humane and less barbaric.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 6:06 pm

they do make shotgun rounds like you say. Obviously though, not something your typical patrolman is going to be carrying on his belt.

          • mea_mark December 5th, 2014 at 6:13 pm

That should change then. With advances in batteries they should be able to make a pistol that can do the job.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 6:58 pm

The technology is not there to produce a projectile small enough, that would fit into a standard side arm. But remember, Being “TAZED” can have some unintended side effects. Just ask the guy on the right.

            http://youtu.be/C7vExU0och0

          • mea_mark December 5th, 2014 at 7:10 pm

The odds of death occurring or some horrible injury are less though. It is a numbers game.

          • Bunya December 5th, 2014 at 8:50 pm

If it was absolutely, positively necessary that the cop use his firearm to subdue the man, why didn’t he aim for the shoulder? Or his hand? Sorry, but I think cops are becoming way too trigger happy. Not only that, but I’m sure the man would have no time to reload his pill bottle.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 5th, 2014 at 9:28 pm

You are not trained to aim for limbs. You are taught to shoot at center mass, and for good reason. Someone who is shot in the limb, is still possible able to attack you. The goal is to eliminate the threat.

          • Bunya December 8th, 2014 at 9:56 am

“You are taught to shoot at center mass, and for good reason.”
And that good reason is a black person walking down the street in possession of Skittles, iced tea, and/or pills.

          • Pistol-Packing AKA "Susie" December 8th, 2014 at 11:53 am

No, they are trained to shoot at brown, yellow, white, and even green people the same way.

          • Bunya December 8th, 2014 at 1:32 pm

So basically, they’re trained to “shoot to kill”. Good to know. Let’s hope all brown, yellow, white and green people aren’t walking down the street armed with Skittles, iced tea and/or pills.

  12. AnthonyLook December 5th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Rumain Brisbon, RIP. Another casualty in America’s “war” with itself.
