[su_right_ad]The second video includes the footing in the first one, but includes the aftermath. It’s not pretty.

For seven minutes, a disgusted bystander continues to film as Garner lies, unmoving, on the sidewalk, police officers involved in the incident milling around him.

The video was originally posted on Facebook over the summer but has received renewed attention after a grand jury decided not to indict an officer involved in the altercation. As Harry Siegel at the New York Daily News points out, this video is almost more disturbing — or disturbing in a way that says something slightly different about Garner and the officers in question. About Garner: If he appears in the first video as the subject of police aggression, here he barely seems to warrant their attention at all. About the officers: They betray no sense of urgency or concern as they wait for first responders. It’s as if the event were almost banal.

    That was hard to watch.

    • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 6:15 pm

i couldn’t bring myself to watch it. just knowing what i saw in the first and reading what i’m expected to see in this one was too much. something i don’t want imprinted in my brain.

    • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 6:15 pm

question. i wonder if this one was shown to the GJ. or, were they told of this psychopaths history in the P.D.

      • tiredoftea December 6th, 2014 at 6:21 pm

Was the other one shown? This is another DA who didn’t want an indictment. They buried the evidence and led the grand jury to the decision they wanted.

    • tuckerb December 6th, 2014 at 7:36 pm

From the description, it was the “second” video and I saw it in the summer, shortly after Mr. Garner’s death (murder). There was no sense of urgency, actually no sense of anything remotely close to humanity. As someone else here commented, it was as if the cops thought Mr. Garner was “bluffing” and the cops showed absolutely no concern. He was dead, or dying, WTF?!? Sickening, needless, horrible.

      • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 7:43 pm

These cops have no soul. How do they live with themselves?

        • tuckerb December 6th, 2014 at 7:47 pm

I don’t know. I honestly don’t understand that level of hate? Disregard for human life? Racism? All the above? Disturbing, profoundly disturbing.

          • mea_mark December 6th, 2014 at 9:12 pm

It is more just cold callousness. They are divorced from reality and life, and living by the whims of their masters. Pawns of those that hand out checks for being obedient, mindless and soulless.

  2. StoneyCurtisll December 6th, 2014 at 6:15 pm

Saw this earlier today on The Young Turks…
Cops act like he is playing dead.
Wants him to get up and on the gurney on his own..
The dude is either already dead, or dying.

  3. mea_mark December 6th, 2014 at 6:19 pm

Cops have been turning into evil, thoughtless, callous creatures for awhile now. How long will we tolerate these henchmen of the rich that buy and control our politicians. They defend the rich and oppress the poor. They don’t care anymore about the people they are supposed to be serving and protecting. The video evidence is everywhere but the attorneys hired by the rich make sure it is discounted. Police departments should not be tools of the rich and powerful that don’t care about anybody but themselves. It is time to exercise the evil out of law enforcement. It is time to exercise care and understanding.

    • Wayout December 6th, 2014 at 6:26 pm

But of course you forget about the cop who runs into a burning building to save someone. Or perhaps the cop who responds to a call and winds up getting shot. Your generalizations are way out of line. This is not an epidemic of cop on citizen violence. There were like 20, 000 misdemeanor arrests in NYC last year and this was the only one resulting in death. The next time some bad guy attempts to assault you or a loved one don’t you dare call the police.

      • StoneyCurtisll December 6th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

        STFUAH.

      • mea_mark December 6th, 2014 at 6:29 pm

The police don’t do me any favors. All they have ever done is make life more difficult.

        • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 6:39 pm

I’ve met some good cops. But they need to step forward and call out the bad ones. That thin blue line needs to die.

          • mea_mark December 6th, 2014 at 8:06 pm

i know some good cops but they haven’t done me any favors and they don’t call out the bad ones. The brotherhood is stronger than the motivation to do what is right.

How many civil rights violations and non-death shootings? What happened to community policing? Protect and serve?

          Wow….
Cleveland cops are off the hook.
The DOJ are on their ass.

I found Love’s story very compelling and incredibly disturbing – particularly the media coverage.

        • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 6:36 pm

          Doesn’t count, because burning buildings.

          • Carla Akins December 6th, 2014 at 7:18 pm

            And resisting and being obese.

          • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 7:37 pm

I need to tell my overweight BFF that she deserves to die. Nothing at all horrible in that, but she just has to go. Apparently.

          • Carla Akins December 6th, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Don’t you think it’s a little passive-aggressive telling me right here in the comments section!

            It’s so endearing though, ~~~~~~~~~~ ??????~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sorry, but you gotta go. That’s life!

      • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 6:38 pm

        Dear Wayout,

Let us know when you find it unacceptable that a black man is killed by the police, mmkay? Even your boy George W. Bush did not understand the grand jury decision. That speaks volumes of your views.

        Have a great evening,

        That Anomaly Woman

        • Wayout December 6th, 2014 at 8:07 pm

I will agree, the Eric Garner case is disturbing. At no point here did I ever say the cop was in the right, but you cannot tar all cops by this one incident. In this case, the cops not helping him even though they are all first aid trained is not good. But why did the Grand Jury not indict? It sure would be nice to see their reasoning.

          • Anomaly 100 December 6th, 2014 at 8:20 pm

“You liberals should love him with all the deficit spending.”

Take your trolly comments and kiss my progressive ass.

          • CherMoe December 7th, 2014 at 11:43 pm

Maybe because he screwed up the country and the right-wing still worship him … and maybe cause THEY MADE MONEY off his screw-ups which cost THE 99%.

      • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 8:20 pm

“But of course you forget about the cop who runs into a burning building to save someone.” its his job. “Or perhaps the cop who responds to a call and winds up getting shot.” it comes with the job. you want i should send them a cookie?

      • Foundryman December 6th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

Actually, cops don’t run into burning buildings, those are firemen. Cops are the ones who usually keep the relatives or neighbors from running into the building by choke holding them.

        • mea_mark December 6th, 2014 at 9:17 pm

And from what I recall it was me, a nobody that pulled a person out of a burning car after an accident. No paycheck, no thank you, nothing, I just went home got drunk to subdue the adrenaline and went to bed.

      been there Done that
Im still trying to understand the seatbelt maneuver death hold ? because its not a choke hold

  5. tiredoftea December 6th, 2014 at 6:23 pm

It’s time to end the grand jury system. With this and the Michael Brown case, we are learning how easily grand juries can be manipulated to get violent cops set free to harm more citizens. This is a perverse system of non-justice where the guilty are protected, citizens die and the right claims that all’s well.

    • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 8:18 pm

i would also add that background checks on them as well. its too easy to do to ensure unbiased jurors.

      • tiredoftea December 6th, 2014 at 8:34 pm

We don’t actually need grand juries. It is a relic that has little meaning any longer.

        • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

i agree with your post. but, in the meantime there’s no excuse not to know whose judging, and that includes the sitting trial jurors.

          • tiredoftea December 6th, 2014 at 11:30 pm

Yes, it seems that is something else to do in the short term. Especially since it was found that one of the Ferguson grand juror’s had tweeted some ugly stuff.

          • whatthe46 December 7th, 2014 at 12:07 am

in a trial, the juror would have been tossed and the other jurors questioned to see if they were tainted by her opinion. obviously this didn’t happen. outside the fact that the D.A. didn’t give a sh’t anyway.

    • Kick Frenzy December 6th, 2014 at 10:46 pm

      Agreed.

It seems so simple to me.
If you break police code and an unarmed person dies as a result, you don’t get a jury deciding if you’re going to go to trial… you don’t pass Go… you go to trial.

What the hell happened to standards and pride in a job, justice system and country?

      Superman would be disappointed.
And he was an illegal alien.

  6. crc3 December 6th, 2014 at 7:05 pm

An obvious intention to kill by doing NOTHING to resuscitate (CPR). This is nothing short of cold blooded MURDER…

  7. uzza December 6th, 2014 at 8:07 pm

“…as they wait for first responders.”
I thought police WERE first responders.

    • tiredoftea December 6th, 2014 at 8:34 pm

Oh, OK, good point, second responders!

  8. Foundryman December 6th, 2014 at 8:40 pm

If these murderers think they were just doing their job, their jobs need eliminated. There is no room in society for this kind of barbarism.

  9. Tammy Watson Cecil December 6th, 2014 at 8:54 pm

They didn’t do anything!!!!!!…no mouth to mouth, nothing!!!!! They killed that man for friggin cigarettes!!!!!!!!

    • whatthe46 December 6th, 2014 at 9:06 pm

that he told them he didn’t have. the politicians fk the tax man for much more than the 10 cents he was murdered for.

  10. greenfloyd December 6th, 2014 at 9:27 pm

Aside from the callous lack of concern for human life, what really got me was no one appeared to be, or wanted to be, in charge. And they all got “immunity!?” I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a single mass display of dereliction of duty…

And this is the big one, NYPD, the biggest police department in the nation, perhaps the world.

Civil Rights: now the stage is set for a spectacular confrontation, US Dept. of Justice vs New York’s Finest. AG Holder has an impressive track record reforming police policies and practices in several cities. From what I gather there are now over 20 cities under DOJ investigation, control or litigation. All related to excessive use of force, racism and/or corruption.

Civil case… please tell me the family can win a civil case.

  12. JimmyPete December 7th, 2014 at 7:27 am

why should they betray any urgency, look at the right wing sites and their comments, Mr. Garner was not a human, not worthy of attention, he was about as low as a maggot, I mean he sold loosies and didn’t just jump to the officers command, he’s dead oh well , he was fat.
