[su_right_ad]Running away from the president and claiming she didn’t even vote for him didn’t work out too well for Mary Landrieu.

[She] slipped and told a conservative radio host on Friday that she did not vote for President Obama.

It was a heated exchange and a source close to the Landrieu campaign said the Louisiana Democrat meant that she didn’t vote in lockstep with the president all of the time, but the Black Conservatives Fund seized on the remark and is pushing it out to black voters on Election Day.

On Friday, Landrieu appeared on the morning show of radio host and Tea Party supporter Jeff Crouere, and the two engaged in a combative exchange…

Crouere argued that Landrieu’s support for Obama and the Affordable Care Act, which he called the president’s signature legislative achievement, had sunk her campaign.

Landrieu shot back that she was not a rubber stamp for Obama, and argued that ObamaCare was not the president’s signature legislative achievement because he and other liberals wanted a single-payer healthcare system. She said she voted for the Affordable Care Act because she believed it would help Louisianans.

“I voted for the Affordable Care Act, I did not vote for Obama,” she said. “I voted for the Affordable Care Act for Louisiana and that’s the truth.”[su_csky_ad]

When you run away from what you are supposed to stand for, you should expect to lose, it is just plain stupid.

A real Democratic Senator would have said

“Yes I voted for the Affordable Care Act”. That law will provide access to health insurance for thousands of fellow citizens of Louisiana. Serious illness will no longer bankrupt the families of Louisiana. They will be able to obtain the care necessary to improve and in some cases even save their lives and the lives of their families. If saving the lives of the people of Louisiana is interpreted as voting for Obama, I will do it every single time. If you want a United States Senator who out of partisan spite will vote against the best interests of the people of Louisiana then by all means vote Republican”

Let’s hope the democrats put up a real strong progressive next time and not play games with the opposition. Inspire the progressives and forward thinking people to go to the polls to vote for someone they like, instead of a trying to get them to the polls to vote against someone they don’t. Positive action should work better for progressives. Fear and negativity is for republicans and the regressives.

It’s best we don’t have this stupid turncoat in the senate anyway.

Lesson from the elections, appeal to your base instead of appeasing the opposition.

This is a good example of why the Dems have to get better candidates who will stand firm on the message. Telling everyone she didn’t support Obama just made her tbag lite.

She thought the best way to get re-elected was to sound like a republican. I think the voters saw through that.

Of the 60 senators who voted for Obamacare on December 24, 2009, 30 of them are now gone from the Senate… Hmmm…

    • arc99 December 7th, 2014 at 5:18 pm

voted out by people stupid enough to believe in death panels, people not sure if Hawaii is a state and those who believed dire warnings about IRS agents kicking down your door.

      hmm.

Landrieu – the perfect example of rotten from the inside out, corrupt, lying Right Wing Corporate shill. Good riddance; get out of the way for someone with a functioning moral compass and some integrity.
