Add another Republican to the Senate as Bill Cassidy defeats Mary Landrieu.

[su_center_ad]

Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy has denied Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana a fourth term, calling his Senate victory “the exclamation point” on midterm elections that put Republicans in charge on Capitol Hill for President Barack Obama’s last two years in office.

With nearly all votes counted, unofficial returns showed Cassidy with a commanding victory in Saturday’s runoff as he ousted the last of the Senate’s Deep South Democrats. In the South, Democrats will be left without a single U.S. senator or governor across nine states stretching from the Carolinas to Texas…

He did not mention Obama or offer any specifics about his agenda in the Senate, but said in his victory speech that voters have demanded “a conservative direction” on health care, budgets and energy policy.

Or maybe some voters, at least, wanted a Democrat who acted like one.[su_csky_ad]

“..voters have demanded “a conservative direction” on health care.”

Yes, those red welfare states have a good remedy for health care. Stay sick.

voters have demanded “a conservative direction

      _______

      All 18% of them.

Voters have also demanded raising the minimum wage.

      So what?

almost every one of the thousands of nasty messages left on Landreau’s Facebook page were republicans gloating and saying it was because of Obama and Obamacare.

I don’t know if you have ever been here but you would be hard pressed to find a full set of teeth even if you pulled every one in town in most places. Poorer than poor and can’t afford dentists or doctors.

People living in a place known as cancer alley and they don’t want health care because of the black man attached to it.

You can see why we are moving, I was born here, my kids were born here but enough is enough.

I was raised in N’awlins and still have family there. It’s amazing that some of my family members hate on Obamacare yet they’re on — wait for it — Medicaid.

Politicians take their constituents for granted, they then wonder what happened when they’re booted out of office. Democracy in action. Love it!

  4. KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker December 7th, 2014 at 8:30 am

    She earned it indeed.
This DINO ignored every success of this administration and sold out to ignorant wingnuts and even celebrated Fox propaganda bovine excrement.
Well guess what; Democrats and progressives stayed home.
    Let this be a lesson.

Great. Third world status, here we come. The ‘takers’ are in charge.

  6. edmeyer_able December 7th, 2014 at 8:46 am

Must be the people voting republican because of health insurance premiums and gas prices going thru the roof.

    • Candide Thirtythree December 8th, 2014 at 2:24 am

Go look at Landreau’s facebook page, nothing but miles and miles of republicans leaving nasty-grams. There were very few comments by supportive democrats.

Her and Edwin Edwards were the only two democrats on the ballot Saturday. The DNC abandoned this state a long time ago.

Please do us all a favor and learn to read. No one is crying about the defeat of soon-to-be former US Senator Mary Landrieu.

I have another song suggestion which describes you and anyone else who thinks liberals are crying about Laandrieu’s loss

Never have so many voted against their own interests or just not bothered to vote.

    • jasperjava December 7th, 2014 at 10:45 am

Voting for a quisling like Landrieu is in nobody’s interests, now that control of the Senate is no longer in play.

Let the Republicans have the old Confederacy. That will be the millstone around their necks for years to come.

      • edmeyer_able December 7th, 2014 at 11:17 am

As long as dark money is allowed to buy the votes of the low information voter it will be something the rest of us have to deal. The koch brothers rec’d about a billion dollars in tax breaks and energy subsidies that they pour into buying politicians that will further their agenda.

Debt/deficit complaints? 96% of that debt is under
      Repubs or caused by them,
we were on scedule to be debt free by 2011, paying off
the Reagan debt, instead Repubs used up the $5.6
trillion surplus, they acknowledged (and now try to deny)
and turned that into $6 trillion in dew debt, and on top
of that handed Obama a $1.7 trillion deficit and $12
trillion in new projected debt over the next decade, along
      with losing 750K + jobs/month, 60,000 closed factories, no
private sector jobs created in a decade, half of high tech
jobs outsourced, 15% of the economy gone!

    • GreatLakeSailor December 7th, 2014 at 8:55 pm

      20 Progressives voted against this:
“House Votes 378 to 46 to Give Corporate America a Big Christmas Present”

So it ain’t like Very Serious Right Wing Beltway Dem Elite are interested in championing for Working People.

  9. Tim Coolio December 7th, 2014 at 10:53 am

I didn’t like her because she was against the public option, surprised she wasn’t replaced in 2010 with a more progressive democrat.

    • granpa.usthai December 7th, 2014 at 1:58 pm

well, you sure don’t have to worry about that now!

      • Tim Coolio December 7th, 2014 at 2:15 pm

The GOP will try to shove their hard-right agenda on us and they have way more seats to defend in 16 so I think their majority will be short lived.

    • Candide Thirtythree December 8th, 2014 at 2:16 am

She was the only one on the ticket. As a matter of fact, since we have jungle primaries there are loads of races that have no democrats at all on them. For the last 6 years or so there have been fewer and fewer races that have any democrats in them so I just voted on the amendments and left most of the races blank because there was not even a lesser evil to vote for.

      • Tim Coolio December 8th, 2014 at 10:39 am

That will get us on a race to the bottom,
and after hitting rock bottom some new FDR types will step up and run and dig us out again.

  10. granpa.usthai December 7th, 2014 at 1:57 pm

    oh goodie!
For sure now the Republicans will be able to keep their promises of Veterans receiving medical facilities and care EQUAL to US Senators, a booming economy in overdrive and AMNESTY/CITIZENSHIP for all who so desire!

no more sitting on your deadbeat do nothing overly pampered asses, Repubs –

    ‘get ‘er done’

    or

    start packing!

    • edmeyer_able December 7th, 2014 at 2:40 pm

The koch bro agenda is the game plan the republicans will be following, a reduction of power in EPA, de-funding any renewable energy initiatives, selling of federal lands to the highest bidder. Look for them to try to do away with medicaid and SS as well as the ACA.
All I can say is make sure any investments you have are well protected.

      • Tim Coolio December 8th, 2014 at 10:34 am

Their war on the new deal will backfire.

  11. Candide Thirtythree December 8th, 2014 at 2:12 am

Amen! I held my nose and voted for her and so did everyone in the family but a lesser evil is still evil.

That was our last election as Louisiana residents because we are moving to Colorado but like hubby said, “We voted so we earned the right to bitch about it!” LOL

We did our part, we tried but there is no fixing stupid and Louisiana is buried under tons of weapon’s grade stupid. It was Jindal after all who pointed out that the republican party is the stupid party.
