Cleveland officer Timothy Loehmann shot Tamir Rice to death, then reportedly left the 12-year-old there for four minutes without seeking medical help, then went on to handcuff his 14-year-old sister while threatening to detain her.

[su_center_ad]Think Progress reports:

Samaria Rice said Monday that she found her daughter handcuffed in the back of a police car when she got to the playground where her son was shot dead for carrying a fake gun. The daughter then told her that officers had handcuffed her when she reacted to seeing her brother bleeding on the ground, and said they would put her in the back of the car if she didn’t calm down, according to BuzzFeed.
Cleveland Police haven’t responded to an inquiry from the Cleveland Plain Dealer asking for confirmation of the new details.

What Tamir did may not have been the brightest thing to do, but adults with actual weapons aimed at federal agents during the Bundy ranch standoff, didn’t even receive a citation. Tamir Rice is dead. He was black. Hundreds at the Bundy ranch were white and they defiantly walked away without any repercussions.

Of all the recent police killings this one rattles my cage the most. If anyone deserves to be the poster-child of a movement to reform the police and come to grips with the far bigger problem of Gangsta-culture, it’s this poor little kid, Tamir Rice, who had the cards stacked against him from the day he was born. Likewise, Cleveland officer Timothy Loehmann should be held-up as an example of everything that’s wrong with policing in America today. I hope Tamir’s sister gets through this OK and will be the wiser for it. Of course it would really help if the political establishment wised-up as well!
