A Mississippi pastor dressed a horse in a wedding dress and stood outside the federal courthouse in protest of same-sex marriage, while totally missing the point that a horse cannot consent to marriage, whereas two men or two women can.

[su_center_ad]”I thought it was laughable and I believe he was going for a ridiculous protest and he certainly got one,” said Eddie Outlaw, an LGBT advocate.

WJTV reports that Reverend Edward James of Bertha Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Charlotte was the mastermind behind the spectacle.

“The horse is to show the ridiculous idea of two men getting married,” James said.

James explained that after a federal decision was made in November to lift the ban on same-sex marriage in the state, he is hoping Judge Carlton Reeves will change his mind.

“I’m a Mississippian and I’m praying and hoping that we will remain a state that only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman,” he said.

“The argument is not about sin or religious belief or what the church says about marriage equality. It is strictly about benefits, rights, protection extended by government not by the church,” Outlaw said.

James stood outside with his horse for more than two hours as people honked their horns or stopped to take pictures.

“I’ve had 100-percent support so far, thumbs up, tooting on the horns, I’ve even had a couple come out and give me a hug and hug the horse,” he said.

Yeah well, it is Mississippi.

“I think the good reverend should probably focus on what he can do to minister to the needs of the LGBT community and not get involved with hot button interests like marriage equality right now,” Outlaw said.

The federal court of appeals is scheduled to hear arguments about Mississippi’s ban on same sex-marriage on January 9th in New Orleans.

Hey I know! Maybe if those opposed to same-sex marriage all bring cross-dressed horses, that’ll work.

I thought I was the only one to notice that he appears to be somewhat illiterate!

Some of the most vicious, downright nasty opposition to gay marriage and to gay rights in general seems to come from the Black clergy and their churches. Sort of ironic, in a sad way. .

Although none of this makes sense, he should have at least tried to marry two horses in order for the analogy to work ( so to speak)

That horse is purtie…is she taken or not?

It’s not the consenting part point that the Pastor is trying to make, it’s the consummation part. Any attempt for two men or two women to “consummate” their “marriage” would be an un-natural act, as sex with a horse would be. Come on folks, this isn’t rocket science.

    1. Homosexual behavior is exhibited in other species within the Animal Kingdom (“the natural world”) and, as such, is very “natural.”

    2. People already have sex with horses without the benefit of wedlock: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/32206359/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/t/sc-man-accused-having-sex-horse/#.VIzgfNXF9YM

    3. How is a horse or a dog (Canis lupus Santorumensis) give consent, vocalize their wedding vows, sign the marriage certificate, etc?

    4. Isn’t it ironic that his stance on same-sex marriage is virtually interchangeable with the idea that it’s “unnatural” for him to marry a white woman?
