Cheney: Forced Rectal Feeding Done ‘For Medical Reasons’
[su_right_ad]Dick Cheney, appearing on “Meet the Press’, refused to acknowledge that forced rectal feeding is torture.
“We were very careful to stop short of torture,” Cheney said. “The Senate has seen fit to label the report torture, but we worked hard to stay short of that definition…The definition is the one that was provided by the office of legal counsel….All of the techniques that were authorized by the president were, in effect, blessed by the Justice Department opinion that we could go forward with those without, in fact, committing torture.”
Host Chuck Todd asked if that included the most gruesome example to emerged from the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report: forced rectal feeding.
“That does not meet the definition of what was used in the program,” Cheney said. “What was done here apparently certainly was not one of the techniques that was approved. I believe it was done for medical reasons…It wasn’t torture in terms of, it wasn’t part of the program.”[su_csky_ad]

There is no such medical thing as rectal feeding unless it’ 1641. Besides what would be the point when they’re already using a feeding tube on these men – except for torture.

I hadda go look up the nutrient enema entry in the wikipedia because I wondered if this was even A Thing, and sure enough, it hasn’t been used since the nineteenth century, and further actually has no medical value as a nutrition aid.
Which means that its only purpose is the one repeatedly identified in the report– to impress upon the detainee the belief that he was powerless; and the property of the interrogator to do with as he wished– if you’ll pardon the vernacular, to make him your bitch, and make sure he knows it.
Which means that Cheney is lying, of course, and the only remarkable thing about that is the sheer facility with which he does it– Personally, I think he literally believes whatever words come out of his mouth even as he is forming them.
Pretty sure that’s textbook sociopathy.

todd should have pointed out that others were tried and convicted of torture for using some of the same acts on our men that we perpetrated on detainees. But that wouldn’t have been up to his “standards”.

All the docs are saying no, this is not a medical practice. I’ve had a feeding tube, it goes in the nostril and down the esophagus to the stomach. It was in a hospital and I knew I had to do it, and consented, but I still have nightmares about it.

They want us to call it “rectal hydration”. It isn’t:

Cheney needs to be kidnapped…taken to an unknown place then given the same “treatments” that he ordered done on captives. This includes days of waterboarding… anal feedings…and sexual assaults. Then let’s see how he feels about these treatments and see if he denies they are torture…

As much as that sounds like a “good idea” it would make us no better than the w admin. and I for one want to stay above that level.
I’m afraid the best we can hope for is our allies put him and his cohorts on trial in absentia and he be convicted on the world stage.
History may gloss over this in future generations but at least we could live in the knowledge that we tried to right a very terrible wrong.

Inviting Cheney to appear on any national news program is a disgrace. It is shameful that he was not prosecuted in courts in this country, but to continue to give him a voice is simply abetting his hideous views and accepting his behavior as appropriate.
