Colorado State Rep. Gordon Klingenschmitt says forget Obamcare and rely on God for healthcare.

Citing a passage from Exodus 15, Klingenschmitt asserted that God will protect people from disease so long as they obey His commands and said that Americans “ought to look to the Lord for our healthcare.”

“I personally prefer to look to almighty God as my healer and not to the government as a substitute god or substitute healer,” he said, before praying that this nation would “repent of worshiping President Obama as if he is a god”[su_center_ad]

This type of rhetoric raises my blood pressure.

Children born with spina bifida and other devastating diseases, genetic diseases that run in families like huntingtons, cancer ….So much is wrong with thses obviously inbred and ignorant phony xtians.

    • Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 5:36 pm

His standard reply? It’s god’s will. As Carlin said, when someone used that response to something like a child dying in a car crash, “Let’s get that guy god, that’s the third kid he’s killed this week.” It’s like when people pray to end a drought. If god can end droughts, didn’t he cause them in the first place?

      • tracey marie December 19th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

exactlly, the lack of thought and the willfull ignorance celebrated by that type is an embarrassment for our country. I wonder if he truly believes that nonsense or if he is just bashing the President?

        • Suzanne McFly December 19th, 2014 at 5:42 pm

He wants people to send their money to him and not waste it on silly health insurance.

          • tracey marie December 19th, 2014 at 5:47 pm

            he is an elected official

          • Suzanne McFly December 19th, 2014 at 6:00 pm

Oh, I figured he wasn’t any longer and he now had a show where he read his version of the Bible to people. Well I guess this is what he does for campaign contributions.

          • tracey marie December 19th, 2014 at 6:06 pm

It does get confusing sometime, the rwnj are always pretending to be christians

          • Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 6:08 pm

And since they always want their religion to be the official state religion (or they act like that anyway), it’s not surprising when their roles start to blend.

          • tiredoftea December 19th, 2014 at 7:36 pm

No, just elected from Colorado Springs. HQ of Focus on the Family, a real hot bed of fringe right wing christian charlatans.

          • Suzanne McFly December 19th, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Maybe he needs to consume some THC and chill out.

          • tiredoftea December 19th, 2014 at 8:07 pm

He would have to drive to Denver. The Springs has not set up their stores, yet. But, that may be his true inspiration for his health advice.

          • Suzanne McFly December 19th, 2014 at 8:17 pm

Can’t believe he hasn’t already driven to Denver. I know some people in Connecticut who have made that trip and a couple are going back.

          • tiredoftea December 19th, 2014 at 8:55 pm

Please alert us to their travel schedule! I want to be very far away when they drive around.

          • Suzanne McFly December 19th, 2014 at 9:13 pm

If they are driving they are going about 5 miles under the speed limit looking for a Taco Bell just so you know.

          • tiredoftea December 19th, 2014 at 10:13 pm

Ha! Too late to buy a franchise in CO., I assume.

            hahahaha…. oops 🙂

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 5:47 am

And maybe stopping at a couple of “green” lights… or stopping at a stop sign, waiting for the light to change

          • Suzanne McFly December 20th, 2014 at 10:19 am

OMG, I have a hilarious story about that. Ugh, I have to tell it now, not sure if I should but it is too funny not to share. I was with my brother and we were a little elevated shall we say and I stopped at a stop sign for over 5 minutes. I was saying “hey man, whats up with this light. Why is it soooo damn long?”. Finally after about the third time of me saying this, my brother said, “hey, its a stop sign”. We crack up about this incident to this day lol.

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 12:32 pm

hahahahaha… I swear, it could easily have been me. That is too funny 🙂

          • Suzanne McFly December 20th, 2014 at 9:41 pm

Glad to know I am not the only one lol

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 5:45 am

And you know this…. because? 😉

          • tiredoftea December 20th, 2014 at 11:25 am

Actually, there is a series about the pot business on MSNBC. Not a great answer, I know, but that’s all you’re going to get from me.

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 12:17 pm

            🙂

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 5:17 pm

The Pot Barons? Reminds me, that, where I live (Oregon) Marijuana was made legal for recreational use. I’ve heard conflicting stories, about just exactly ‘when’ it is OK to have it in your possession. One story says the law must me enacted within 30 days, the other story has it in June 2015.
            I haven’t heard anything definitive….
Of course this doesn’t have any impact on my life, I was just saying… 🙂

          • tiredoftea December 20th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Yeah, it’s a pretty good series, if you can ignore the egomaniacs it follows around.

Well, let us know when you figure it out, especially since it’s an academic exercise.

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 5:49 am

IKR? How does that keep happening?

        • Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 5:56 pm

          Why can’t it be both?

  2. AmusedAmused December 19th, 2014 at 5:42 pm

Good, so now Colorado taxpayers can save money by canceling Klingenschmitt ‘s and his brood ‘ s tyrannically provided government health insurance. Afterall, it’s not like he needs medicine, anyway. Whether it’s vascular blockage that’s ailing him, or dental plaque, all he has to do is pray, and Jesus will fix that **** right quick.

  3. Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 5:58 pm

And by the way, it’s not the government that’s the healer, they’re just helping people pay for the healers. If he wants to pray when he has a heart attack instead of going to the hospital, let him. We won’t miss him.

  4. Jake December 19th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

How come these dumb-ass rightwing fascist christian morons are perfectly willing to have us depend on god to provide us with health care to protect us from physical ailments – but we still must buy guns to protect ourselves otherwise. Their arguments are about as consistent as the fictional garbage that comprises the bible.

    TAX the CHURCHES!

    • Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 6:10 pm

In Germany, part of your taxes supports the church you declare. You have to officially declare yourself to be atheist to not have that happen. I don’t know if the churches are tax exempt though.

      • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 5:42 am

Hey!… wait a minute here! Klingen-“schmitt”?… hmmm Any relation??
(I hope you know I’m just kidding around 😉 )

        • Larry Schmitt December 20th, 2014 at 6:54 am

Schmitt and its variations are the equivalent of Smith, and the most common name in Germany. Klingen means to sound, so I don’t know how that combination works. But thank god he’s no relation of mine.

          • raincheck December 20th, 2014 at 9:38 am

I’ve enjoyed reading a lot of your comments… so I’m glad you saw the humor in my post…. Cheers

  5. Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 6:06 pm

And one last thing. Who has been “worshiping President Obama as if he is a god” Even the die-hardest liberals can find issues that he has disappointed on. There is no worshiping going on.

    • jasperjava December 19th, 2014 at 6:46 pm

It’s the right-wingers who keep calling him the “Messiah”.

  6. Tommy6860 December 19th, 2014 at 6:12 pm

A few more fundamentalist assholes like Klingenschmitt getting elected as government legislators, and we’ll be two steps from becoming an extremist religious banana republic.

    • Larry Schmitt December 19th, 2014 at 6:22 pm

      Where bananas don’t even grow.

      • rg9rts December 20th, 2014 at 5:57 am

But the weed’s as high as an elephants eye

  7. ExPFCWintergreen December 19th, 2014 at 6:36 pm

Can’t wait for this guy to get cancer and see what happens

    • Gindy51 December 20th, 2014 at 7:11 am

He’ll use his influence to bump everyone else out of line for treatment, that’s what will happen.

  8. jasperjava December 19th, 2014 at 7:38 pm

This is criminally irresponsible. What if some vulnerable person hears this message and decides to trust God rather than medicine, declines to seek healthcare and dies of a treatable disease?

This guy is sick and needs to consult mental health professionals. Unfortunately he will just listen to the voices in his head and get worse.

  9. Guy Lauten December 19th, 2014 at 8:27 pm

Wonder if he would consent to he and his family wearing “Do Not Treat” bracelets? I mean, why should doctors waste their time sewing up any of their possible severed arteries if it’s all in “God’s hands”?

  10. dave-dr-gonzo December 19th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

At least ol’ Dr. Chaps is consistent in his religulous crazy.

    • Obewon December 19th, 2014 at 9:24 pm

They forget the ACA has a faith healer exemption for 7th day Adventists, Christian Science, Scientologists and other devotees who swear on their life that a 10%+ tithe heals nearly as fast as ‘Colmesini the Unbelievable’ radioshow!

  11. tracey marie December 19th, 2014 at 9:39 pm

I wi bet that he is taking crestor, lisinoprol and likely even more medications. He is fat and stupid, a terrible combination

    • rg9rts December 20th, 2014 at 5:56 am

      The usual….TAG

  12. Jack E Raynbeau December 19th, 2014 at 9:56 pm

    Why does god hate amputees?

  13. Foundryman December 19th, 2014 at 11:17 pm

I for one hope this guys idea catches on in the far right wing world…There would be plenty of doctors and costs would go down if all the righties quit believing in doctors, hospitals and science and just stayed home and prayed.

  14. bpollen December 20th, 2014 at 4:24 am

I prefer to refer to this “man” by his Star Trek name: Goron Klingonshit.

  15. rg9rts December 20th, 2014 at 5:55 am

No problem with that….as long as he cancels his insurance
