[su_right_ad]Missouri Senator Roy Blunt says it’s the fault of protesters that two New York policemen were killed, according to Think Progress.

Appearing on KMBZ in Kansas City on Monday, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) speculated that criticism of police tactics from his own constituents in the aftermath of the shooting may have “led to the deaths of those two officers.”

“Piling on to the police and the equipment that they’re using, particularly when you really don’t explain what’s out there in a way that’s helpful,” Blunt said, referring to criticism of how police in Missouri handled the initial protests. “You got the police out there protecting the protesters and themselves and being constantly criticized for everything they’re doing and now that may be from that constant criticism something may have gotten into this man’s head.”

“We have to wonder about was there anything going on in the national discussion that led to the deaths of those two officers,” he concluded.

An email from Senator Blunt’s office to Fox News Radio clarifies, saying,  “…he never criticized the protestors. He is referring to the ‘criticism of police,’ including the’equipment they’re using’as well as the ‘national discussion’ – all of which the original blog post notes. [su_csky_ad]

A young man with a lengthy criminal record and serious mental health issues, that had previously failed to commit suicide – committed this crime. The protesters, politicians and a demand for equal treatment did not cause this situation. A failed mental health and judicial systems failed both the shooter and his victims.

You are absolutely correct, but if it can’t fit on a bumper sticker, the rightwing won’t even take notice. Not to mention that you used actual facts and logic.

      • mea_mark December 22nd, 2014 at 1:31 pm

‘Inequality Kills’, that fits on a bumper sticker. Inequality is the root problem and until it is dealt with things aren’t going to get much better.

          Nailed it!

    • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 1:54 pm

Pretty much the same sentiment I’ve expressed anytime a killer’s motivations have been blamed on listening to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

  2. burqa December 22nd, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Naw, man, it’s caused by vaccinations

  3. arc99 December 22nd, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Just as every pro-life person in this country is responsible for the murder of George Tiller and shootings at other family planning clinics.

Right wingers, if this is how you want to proceed, then bring it.

Your firearm fetishists have already murdered 5 police officers over the past few years in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas. So yes you are all responsible for those deaths as well.

  4. burqa December 22nd, 2014 at 12:51 pm

We can guess, just like this Blunt guy is doing, and plug in our preconceived notions, but really, that’s all we’re doing is guessing. I think it is way too early to be drawing conclusions with next to nothing to go on about the person alleged to have done it.
Let’s just wait and let it play out.

  5. Foundryman December 22nd, 2014 at 1:04 pm

If people are going to be blaming protesters, de Blazio, Obama, Sharpton and anyone else who had nothing to do with this murderous creep, then it’s meaningless to even start a dialogue or conversation about what to do to about it. Just bury the two dead cops and forget about it since no one wants to address the truth.
That is what the right did after Newtown and every other mass shooting, bury them and forget about it.

  6. Red Eye Robot December 22nd, 2014 at 1:10 pm

Systematic demonization of the police created an environment where the assassin felt he was justified in taking lives. An attack where police are targeted and people applaud is not a run of the mill murder. it is a breakedown of respect of civilized society. This breakdown doesn’t happen by accident it is always the result of a political agenda

    • mea_mark December 22nd, 2014 at 1:14 pm

A right-wing political agenda of oppressing people so that a few can be excessively wealthy at the expense of the many. In short, extreme inequality. Extreme inequality is causing a breakdown in civilized society, oppression is not civilized.

You’re full of crap! How does this work?

      • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 1:37 pm

        a “lovely” couple

      • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 1:51 pm

Hey, isn’t that the couple from Occupy?

        • Tommy6860 December 22nd, 2014 at 1:54 pm

          Your point?

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 2:25 pm

Pigeons sometimes live in two holes?

          • Tommy6860 December 22nd, 2014 at 2:29 pm

And you’re still not making a point. Instead some cliche, say what you mean.

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 2:33 pm

            Oh, okay.
You were playing a simplistic game. I anted up.

          • Tommy6860 December 22nd, 2014 at 3:11 pm

You failed! Please keep up with how the wingers and GOP mouthpieces are holding the protests and De Blasio to blame on why this guy murdered two cops. My meme is relevant.

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 3:15 pm

Relevancy is in the eye of the beholder. Misrepresentations, however, always deserve to be countered.

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 2:56 pm

            you lied

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 3:15 pm

            Come again, Senator?

        • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 2:55 pm

let’s be honest here CJ, I will up the ante. First, the million man march was world wide and directed and started by anonymous, fact! Second having to go to a rwnj site , gateway pundit to even find this FB post and pictures from the militia far right couple is disingenuous at best. This was NOT a occupy march, period

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 3:19 pm

But if I come to a lwnj site like LL to find the image meme that Tommy posted, that’s gospel truth, no?

“While living in Lafayette, Jerad and his wife Amanda took part in last November’s “Million Mask March” – a gathering of protesters from the Occupy movement, anarchists, and hacktivists.”

            — source, RWNJ-site, CBS Chicago: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/06/10/couple-responsible-for-vegas-shooting-spree-recently-lived-in-indiana/

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 3:20 pm

was it a lie like your comment?

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 3:38 pm

That’s the sort of question that parallels “When did you stop beating your wife?”
But yeah, if mine was a lie, then it was just as much of one. It was the kind of statement designed to smear one movement by trying to create an association. But you’re well familiar with the tactic.

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 3:40 pm

            🙂

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 3:27 pm

lol, fail. you implied and stated it was left wing and occupy.

          • R.J. Carter December 22nd, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Yeah, because Occupy is such a conservative movement. /rolleyes/

          • tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 3:37 pm

whatever, now you are doubling down and deflecting

      • Red Eye Robot December 23rd, 2014 at 1:05 pm

Go ahead, make up more fantasies about 2 meth addict anarchists who were so bat shit crazy they were chased off the bundy ranch protests. You’re only proving my point about the left creating this entire protest movement based on the lie that cops are racist. The social media postings of this pair show them to have nothing in common with the teaparty. but everything to do with the violent anarchist protesters of who rioted in conjunction with the occupy movement. These two were nothing more than charles manson wannabees.

Trying to connect these two to the teaparty is especially idiotic because there has never been a teaparty rally where any sort of violence has occurred. No arson, no shooting even despite guns being present at many of the rallies, no rioting, no cops attacked, no need for riot police. no destruction of property. the teaparty is an example of the quintessential NON VIOLENT protest movement. Furthermore the teaparty is not anti government. they are pro CONSTITUTIONAL government. they want small government .

Show me where these where these two drug addicted anarchists ever espoused any of this.

You have built a fantasy world based on lies and pregudice.

    • tiredoftea December 22nd, 2014 at 1:29 pm

“This breakdown doesn’t happen by accident it is always the result of a political agenda”, that’s right and it’s about time that the fringe right steps up to own that agenda.

      • Red Eye Robot December 23rd, 2014 at 12:28 pm

I’m old enough to remember Serpico.
Anyone who thinks Everyone with a Uniform is spanking Clean is deluded.

I know retired cops who did their job ethically and professionally and I know one cop who bullies his neighbors Because he Can. He’s a vile piece of fecal matter and he insults every decent cop out doing his/her job.

All I want is justice. Not violence or revenge.

      • Red Eye Robot December 23rd, 2014 at 12:24 pm

Nobody is suggesting there are no bad cops. The left wants you to believe based on a few incidents that there is a culture of racism within the nations police departments and they are killing black men for no reason. In the last year there has been at least 3 young unarmed white men killed by black officers. Where is the media? Where is Sharpton? By everyone’s estimate police kill about 400 people a year and fewer than 100 are black and most of those happen in large urban cities with large black populations. Furthermore there were More cops killed in the line of duty than black people killed by cops. Many killed by black suspects. Again where is the media? Sharpton?

        • OldLefty December 23rd, 2014 at 12:40 pm

          _______

          Just where it is clear.
As for; Many killed by black suspects. Again where is the media? Sharpton?

          _________

When the perpetrators are duly prosecuted the media and Sharpton are right where they should be.

the rwnj who tout guns, militias andthe teabaggs are at fault…just ask Gabby

    • Candide Thirtythree December 22nd, 2014 at 9:16 pm

You were applauding the murders of black men by cops until this happened right?

it’s not going to respond. fk’n coward.

  7. tiredoftea December 22nd, 2014 at 1:31 pm

The right has discovered its theme du jour. It’s all our fault, they have no responsibility here whatsoever. As if calling out injustice is the injustice.

  8. Bunya December 22nd, 2014 at 1:41 pm

“…“You got the police out there protecting the protesters and themselves and being constantly criticized for everything they’re doing…”
    .
That’s right! Because the cops should have the freedom to kill anybody they want, and for whatever reason. No questions asked!

  9. tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 1:50 pm

I am certain this gop mouth piece will agree that palin and the teabaggs are responsible for Gabby Giffords shooting, right?

  10. tracey marie December 22nd, 2014 at 4:38 pm

blunt compared the DC residents to monkeys in India who were always stealing the golf balls of the british from the golf courses that they carved out of the wilderness that was India before they came to civilize the country

  11. JimmyPete December 22nd, 2014 at 6:03 pm

Hey Roy whose to blame for the Right Winger who massacred the two Pennsylvania State Troopers a few months ago , or the Husband Wife team just out of the Bundy Ranch who after shooting two Vegas Cops to death, draped the Tea Party flag over their bleeding bodies, as Senator Blunt that.

  12. FreedPeopleDescendant December 22nd, 2014 at 6:54 pm

So this guy was arrested 19 times or something, had committed violent crimes, and was on probation but the probation officers lost track of him…and he was able to get a weapon and shoot three people, killing two…and somehow this is Obama and the protestor’s fault. Rudy and other race baiters can scream all the nonsense they want but this is going to come right back to our justice system and how more reforms are needed.
