An off-duty Police officer in Florida shot and killed his son on Christmas Eve. 21-year-old named Khamis Shatara, the deputy’s son, wanted to be a cop.

[su_center_ad]The shooting took place in Delray Beach, and the deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave.

New Times Blogs reports:

…Sgt. Nicole Guerriero confirmed to New Times that the name of the deputy who killed his son is Shatara K. Shatara.

As for the victim, Khamis Shatara appears to have been a criminal justice major at Palm Beach State College who idolized police. He was recently quoted in that college’s newspaper, and a Pinterest account matching Khamis’ name and photo contains several memes honoring police officers. Eerily, one of those memes shows a cop firing a gun at point-blank range.

The victim wrote on Pinterest, “Shake their hand and say thank you for serving your community next time you see an officer.”

Umm, so where’s the rest of the article?

    • edmeyer_able December 26th, 2014 at 8:19 pm

My guess is the rest of the narrative is still being constructed, after all it’s only been 2 days and what with opening gifts and returning items w/o a receipt things take a while.

It’s Florida and they have to find an available fiction writer to fill out the press release. They might still find a retired writer from F Troop to do the job.

It’s all I could find so far. They’re “investigating” what is probably a domestic violence incident which resulted in death.

      • allison1050 December 26th, 2014 at 9:43 pm

Oh gawd, I was hoping that wasn’t/isn’t the case I’d forgotten it’s in Flori duh.

Another story of police entitlement??? Any bets alcohol was involved??? HOWEVER, on the bright side he does qualify for the NRA shooter of the month award…with credit being given for being a professional gun user.

this dead guy was ticking bomb. he wanted to become a cop. he thought a picture of a cop shooting someone in the head point blank was cool. i don’t want to begin to imagine what powers he would have abused had he became a cop.

Zero ACTUAL facts relating to the headline. Thanks, I’ll be off to find out what happened from some other place now.

    • William December 27th, 2014 at 11:57 am

Try Fox news. You have like an 18 percent chance of getting some facts.

      You’re welcome.

      • Stacey H December 27th, 2014 at 12:43 pm

Inferring that I’m stupid enough to believe fox shows your ability to knee jerk. You delightfully avoided the reality that this “story” was just like fox’s reporting though, a headline designed to jerk people in with absolutely zero substance to the actual story. Don’t bother getting witchy with me to defend the writing on this one, just because there’s liberal in the site name doesn’t mean I automatically have to fawn over their “reporting” even if I think it’s crap. This article qualifies as crap.

        • fancypants December 28th, 2014 at 7:33 pm

I cant remember the last time I saw fox news report on cops who shoot their own family and I don’t think its in their future either. Its painful enough to see them justify choke holds on people who couldn’t run a 50 yard dash if their life depended on it.

    • Tom Conoley December 28th, 2014 at 8:31 pm

Why is it so hard to understand that most news sources go with the information at hand, and in cases like this, which was likely still under investigation, the facts don’t come pouring out all at once?

      • Stacey H December 28th, 2014 at 11:04 pm

Mostly because a simple search showed the information that was available at the time this lazy fluff piece was written.

  9. veggiedude December 27th, 2014 at 1:30 pm

A professional with a gun does this and amateur gun enthusiasts won’t take note because of their fear of crime, which we all know is at a 50 year low.

    • waypasthadenough2 December 29th, 2014 at 10:24 am

The Second Amendment is not about killing common criminals. That’s only a fringe benefit that the Founders never expected Americans, now amerikans, to be too stupid to understand.

      Here’s what the Second Amendment
actually means regardless of how much our blood domestic enemies with
white skin, the “Liberal”(commie) trash and other assorted
      authoritarians lie about it:

The right of the people to overthrow or prevent tyrannical or
authoritarian government by force of individually owned arms, purchased
or manufactured without government permission or taxes levied or paid,
inferior to, equal to or superior to those commonly carried by soldiers,
marines, sailors or militia members of any fighting force in the world
shall not be brought into question. The right of the people to protect
themselves from criminals in government, or any institution that may
seek authority over them or from any common street criminal shall not be
brought into question. Those elected, hired or appointed public
servants who do question this proclamation and/or the people’s natural,
most basic right, that all our other rights are based upon, that of self
defense, shall be arrested, tried for treason and executed.

There’s no such thing as a good ‘gun law.’ All gun control is
propaganda designed to condition the sheeple to accept more control with
total civilian disarmament being the final objective thus all gun
control is an act of war. All who forward it should be arrested, tried
for treason against human Liberty and executed.

A populace can’t fight the government by force – the government will win every time. Just ask the Irish Republican Army! However, as Gandi and (later) Martin Luther King has shown, you can do it by peaceful means, and by the rule of law.

Just another “Good Guy” with a gun……

    • Denise December 30th, 2014 at 11:33 am

It all depends on what type cop he is. He might be a bad guy.
