Black Man Killed By Texas City Police
[su_right_ad]Police arrived after a disturbance outside a Texas City bar.
During a news conference later on Friday morning, Texas City Police Chief Robert Burby said that when officers arrived, a young male was shooting at patrons who were leaving the bar. The chief said the male turned and pointed his weapon at an officer, and the officer shot the male, who was later pronounced dead in the parking lot by paramedics.
Relatives of the male who was shot say he was taking the gun from someone else when he was shot. While officials have not identified the dead man, family members told Fox 26 News he was 20-year-old Carlton Smith and provided a picture of Smith [pictured here with his mother, Kathey Kelley].
Police had to dispatch reinforcements after some people in the crowd starting throwing rocks at officers and police vehicles.
The name of the officer involved in the shooting will not be released for 48 hours, but the officer is on modified leave during the investigation, according to Burby.[su_csky_ad]

How come white thugs aren’t getting gunned down then? There are a lot of them. I think what is troubling to people, not just “Liberals”, is the failure of police procedures. If there is a gun call, one would think that several officers would show up, at a safe distance. But nope. Not in the case of the little twelve year old, you know … where the little boy was playing with a toy gun and the cop car flew right up next to him where he was subsequently gunned down on the spot. Your straw man leaves a lot to be desired.
Officer’s are supposed to be highly trained. Trained to analyze situations and act accordingly. Thanks to cell phone cams, we are seeing video evidence of increasing racial profiling, harassment and lack of professionalism. All people are entitled to law enforcement. By the way, the term “thug” is just a new way to say the n-word. There are only two definitions to that word. A violent person or in relation to an actual religious organization of Indian Assassins back in the 30’s, the 1830’s.

Here is the problem with this statement – true or not – it has absolutely nothing to do with the matter at hand, abuse of power, continued racial profiling by law enforcement, and the failure of those not targeted to recognize that it’s happening.
If you have some cute quote by a black man that states white privilege doesn’t exist, that he hasn’t felt targeted by law enforcement during his life, and that blacks are treated as equals – that did not come from Allen West or Ben Carson – I would like to see.

He shouldn’t of left the car till he tried talking through the situation. The guy was outside. Stay undercover, observe the situation, talk the situation down if possible and then react accordingly.
Shoot at what moves, observe the situation looking for ways to justify your actions or to figure out the best way to cover up what you did, is not right.

Exactly what happened should become clearer after investigators analyze video from a camera mounted on a police car and from a security camera at the bar, he said. Sheriff’s investigators are also trying to reach the owners of videos reportedly circulating on social media showing events surrounding the shooting.

How do cops in the UK deal with these circumstances? Surely they have technical training to deal with these issues. Maybe we could learn a few things about violent conflict deescalation and non-lethal take downs.
