[su_right_ad]The toll collector on the Mass Turnpike decided to make a political statement on the driver’s ticket, which didn’t sit too well with him.

Someone had also written a profane expression cursing “the law” on the ticket, jolting the driver out of his morning routine Tuesday as he entered the Turnpike in Weston at 8:20 a.m.

“I don’t like to involve myself in this kind of stuff,” said Mike Murtha, who was driving to work in Worcester when he noticed “this little message” on the toll card and photographed it. He turned in the ticket when he paid his toll, but sent a photo to his girlfriend…

The photo found its way to the state Department of Transportation, which was able to identify the tolltaker who handed it out within hours since each ticket can be traced back to a particular toll booth.

His supervisors questioned the worker, who acknowledged writing the message, said DOT officials, who wouldn’t release his name. The toll collector told his bosses he scribbled the words on one ticket only and hadn’t meant to hand it to anyone.[su_csky_ad]

So he wrote a note to himself, with no intent to distribute, on a piece of paper specially designated to be distributed? Should’ve just said “Oops.”

well for heaven’s sake, if Mike had a cell phone (check) WTF didn’t he just call 911 and explain there was a toll booth Official about to go down? It’s really simple, Mike, (pull off the road sos you don’t cause an accident – place the vehicle in park) push the numbers 911 -then dial- when prompted: Police, Fire, Medic, select curtain 3 (also might want to keep a pen and paper handy – JIC they have a ‘sexy’ voice and opt to give you their personal phone number) -when asked what’s the problem, tell them you just entered through a toll booth and the Official informed you they were having trouble breathing. Wait for emergency personnel to arrive (usually fire and police will respond also if able) either leave, or see if you can get a ‘free pass’ for doing a good civic duty!

    To
be honest I chuckled a little, just reading the head line. Maybe because of the
workers annoying perseverance that was brought to Mike’s (I don’t want to get
involved) brain. Well at worst Mike was inconvenienced. I bet he won’t forget it,
    hopefully.

To clarify a little more; Politics does not belong in the work place, nor
should religion. Two topics that should bring us closer as people, does the complete opposite. You can’t have a strong company if you don’t have unity.

Should be easy enough to verify that it was “only one” and deal w/it appropriately, fire him lose all benefits fine of several thousand dollars and incarceration for 10 years……./s
Or maybe just a written reprimand to be removed in say 1 year.

Incarceration for 10 years for writing “I Can’t Breathe”? the cop that strangled the guy to death didn’t even get indicted on any charges.

    • edmeyer_able December 27th, 2014 at 4:06 pm

I can’t, why don’t you tell us what you think would happen?

      • Pistol-Packing December 27th, 2014 at 4:15 pm

probably the same thing that is happening now. If the person who received it was miffed…

It’s interesting that one public servant would get fired for writing a politically motivated statement impacting one person, ( the ticket holder)..While hundreds of public servants in NY can show their politically motivated desires by disrespecting a Mayor and impacting millions then have right wing nuts honor them for it.
