Georgia Police Chief Shoots Wife
[su_right_ad]The police chief of Peachtree City, Georgia, William McCollum, shot his wife who is in critical condition.
Police responded to the couple’s home in the 100 block of Autumn Leaf shortly after 4:15 a.m., where they found the victim, 58-year-old Margaret McCollum. She was taken by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center.
The GBI [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] will handle the shooting investigation. GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said Chief McCollum called 911 to say he accidentally shot his wife twice with his service weapon. After further investigation, Lang said it was determined that Margaret McCollum was only struck once.
It was not immediately known where Margaret McCollum was struck.
The GBI has not yet said what the McCollums doing in the moments leading up to the shooting. At an afternoon news conference, Lang confirmed that the shooting occurred in the couple’s bedroom.
Chief McCollum has been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.[su_csky_ad]

This brings to mind the 2nd Amendment fanatics’ trope “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” How can you tell if it’s an Open Carry fashion disaster or an even worse whack-job moments before the killing spree starts? Can you tell, just by looking, if that guy in uniform is Officer Friendly or Officer Fascist or Officer I’d-Lose-Everything-In-A-Divorce?

sometimes it might be remotely possible for the wife to be the ‘bad’ guy especially at the time of year where ‘age’ is being openly acknowledged – you know, blow out the old, chamber in the new sort of holiday spirit hairtriggerness mood follies type -uh- yeah, well, Anomaly does have like a double point there.
