[su_right_ad]We all know that guns don’t cause deaths, but hoodies do. I wonder what would happen if a legislator tried to make clothing best associated with white people illegal. Dockers, for example. Or wife beater shirts.

A new bill is to be introduced in February by Oklahoma lawmakers to ban hoodies, because they’re evil, that’s why.

The bill would make it illegal to wear hooded sweatshirts, or “hoodies,” in public, according to Think Progress:

Republican Senator Don Barrington will introduce the bill, which would make it a misdemeanor to “wear a mask, hood, or covering” either while committing a crime or in order to intentionally conceal one’s identity. If the bill is passed, offenders would be subject to a fine of $50 to $500, and up to one year in jail. The ban would not affect mask-wearers on Halloween or at masquerade parties, nor would it apply to people who wear head coverings for religious purposes.

Does this include the white ones made from bed sheets?

    • crc3 January 4th, 2015 at 1:49 pm

Barrington probably has one of those hanging in his closet…

Ironically, and if any of you bothered to check facts you would know this, that was exactly the original intent of the law which was originally passed 90 years ago. This bill is a two sentence addition to the original law.

Just pointing out a simple fact. If you want to fight, that’s on you.

So if a guy wears a hoodie on a cold windy day, does the cop have to decide if he’s trying to keep warm, or trying to conceal his identity? Unfortunately, this is being proposed in Oklahoma, so we can’t say it won’t get passed. It’s like Texas junior.

    • Candide Thirtythree January 5th, 2015 at 2:27 am

Hahahaha Texas junior! Now that was funny!

  3. whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 1:43 pm

if it passes, everyone, black and white alike should protest and wear hoodies down their main street. such stupidity and paranoia over nothing.

    • crc3 January 4th, 2015 at 1:50 pm

There is a lot of stupid going on in this country right now…

      • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 3:04 pm

        scary sh’t! you’re right.

  4. William January 4th, 2015 at 2:18 pm

It’s high time they started cracking down on these hoodie clad hooligans.

    • Larry Schmitt January 4th, 2015 at 3:02 pm

He has said almost exactly that on Fox Not News. Interesting how the crackpots from other nets migrate to Fox. This douche and Stossel come to mind immediately.

      • William January 4th, 2015 at 4:02 pm

Fox noise itself doesn’t scare me as much as the degradation of the American standard. The fact that the public or any part therein can tolerate and even embrace an organization that is accurate about 18 percent of the time is pretty scary.

Limited government? I guess for all these many years, I was mistaken about what conservatives wanted. But it is clear now. They want government to limit what people can wear. Thanks for the clarification Sen. Barrington.

BTW how’s that anti-Sharia effort coming along? Any luck guaranteeing that only Christians can impose their religious beliefs on everyone else?

  6. aspromised January 4th, 2015 at 2:59 pm

‘Cause you just can’t tell a “GOOD HOODIE” from a “BAD HOODIE”…. ya know. /s

    • William January 4th, 2015 at 4:04 pm

That’s cuz’ hoodies are mostly worn by GANG members….dontcha’ know

      • aspromised January 4th, 2015 at 4:28 pm

Sure … tell that to all the kids in my all-white neighborhood — who ALL wear hoodies! lol

        • Larry Schmitt January 4th, 2015 at 4:39 pm

I have a couple myself. They come in quite handy when it’s cold. One says ASU, the other says U of A. That’s my gang affiliation.

No doubt this will cure all that is wrong with Oklahoma..

  8. MarcoZandrini January 4th, 2015 at 4:16 pm

Deep in the heart of Dumbfuckistan! Conservatits always come up with the stupidest solutions. Hey, it’s freedumb!

    • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 4:36 pm

its not a solution to begin with.

  9. StoneyCurtisll January 4th, 2015 at 4:20 pm

I think what this law against ‘hoodies’ is really about..
It will give the police new powers to roll up on some group or individual young brother for the new crime of Wearing a Hoodie..(for lack of any other reason)
They will be forched to show ID, frisked, and written a citation/ticket to appear in court and pay a 50/100 dollar fine, (first offense)..
Young people who are not in anyway involved with any type of criminal activity, will now be subject to temporary detention, questioning and forced court appearances where they will be fined and probably have to pay a court cost, and if unable to pay, face jail time in lieu of payment.

    • tracey marie January 4th, 2015 at 4:26 pm

      nailed it!

    • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 4:36 pm

its also called “creating criminals” when they never were.

      • StoneyCurtisll January 4th, 2015 at 10:54 pm

        Exactly~!

  10. William January 4th, 2015 at 4:28 pm

Yet, people are allowed to wear crocs unmolested.

    • tracey marie January 4th, 2015 at 4:29 pm

      damn those so called shoes

      • William January 4th, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Crocs are however acceptable prima facie evidence in a paternity suit.

        • tracey marie January 4th, 2015 at 4:43 pm

          that was so very funny

          • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 5:35 pm

So much for that limited government, personal freedom thingie the Republicans are always promoting.

    • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 4:40 pm

they don’t promote that at all.

      • Larry Schmitt January 4th, 2015 at 4:42 pm

They claim to be against “big government.”

        • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 5:33 pm

they sure as hell don’t act like it.

      • starskeptic January 4th, 2015 at 4:54 pm

Not so much ‘promote’ – rather the ‘foundation’ on which their political philosophy rests.;)

        • whatthe46 January 4th, 2015 at 5:32 pm

yeah i know. just that, “personal freedom” “republicans” and “promoting” in the same sentence, makes me cringe.

          • Larry Schmitt January 4th, 2015 at 5:42 pm

Just like the Pilgrims were only interested in their freedom of religion, the right wing is only interested in their personal freedom.

          • starskeptic January 4th, 2015 at 7:15 pm

That’s the essence of it – as long as a lot of people believe what’s advertised on the box, they don’t have to be bothered with what’s inside.

  12. cecilia January 4th, 2015 at 5:39 pm

I think wearing a suit should be against the law because those BANKERS who ripped us off are crooks and that’s what THEY wear

  13. AnthonyLook January 4th, 2015 at 9:05 pm

Nice to see the Republican State Senators are on board at continuing the insanity agenda that their Federal Congressional Republican fellow nuts will find a top priority.

  14. illinoisboy1977 January 5th, 2015 at 12:02 pm

Obviously, the good Senator doesn’t understand an American’s Constitutional “right to be left alone”, as ruled upon by the US Supreme Court. This means that you have a right to guard your anonimity, when not committing a crime, which means you can wear a mask, veil, hoodie or hijab and there’s nothing the government can do about it. If that bill passes into law, I’m confident that it’ll die a swift death upon appeal of the first prosecution. You don’t have to be readily identifiable, when you go out in public and wearing a particular style of clothing is a form of free expression.
