[su_right_ad]For the terrible crime of trying to join the International World Court, Israel is freezing more than $100 million in Palestinian tax funds. Palestinians were hoping to press war crime charges against Israel.

The Palestinian Authority has chosen confrontation with Israel and we will not sit idly by,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet. He said Israel would not allow its soldiers to be “hauled” before the court.

In an initial response over the weekend, Israel said it had frozen tax funds collected for the Palestinians. The monthly transfers are a key source of revenue for the cash-strapped Palestinian government.

Netanyahu’s government minister for strategic affairs, Yuval Steinitz, said Israel could take even tougher action.

“If the Palestinian Authority continues to attack us, I assume we will consider other steps,” he said, without elaborating.

The Palestinians sought membership in the international tribunal after the U.N. Security Council voted down a resolution setting a three-year deadline for the establishment of a Palestinian state on lands occupied by Israel. On Sunday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said officials were considering going back to the council.

“We might go again and again and again,” he said. “We will never get bored until we gain the recognition — and in the end they will recognize us.”

First they kill them, then they steal their land, then isolation now stealing their money and starving them…Isreal is a terrorist country.

Hey, remember Jericho. When the Jews conquered it, they slaughtered every man, woman, child, and animal they could find. Ostensibly, because God was on their side. Let’s hope they aren’t using it as a blueprint.

      • burqa January 5th, 2015 at 10:07 am

        Yep.
Back then the Arabs couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag, either. Some things never change.
They would have had a Palestine for 60 years if they had accepted peace offers when Israel was founded, but they chose war and lost and they keep choosing war and keep losing.

They are punishing the Palestinians because they don’t want to go to an international court? Whaaa? And we give these people money?

Israel talks big to a persecuted and starving people after stealing their land.
My bet is, if someone in Washington had the balls to tell Bibi that we have to cut back on the billions of dollars our taxpayers are forced to give his military next year by 50%, he’d be singing a whole different tune.

We both know that will never happen. The conservatives love Israel, it’s a good place to keep all the Jews. The Democrats like Israel ’cause the Jewish lobby and loyal voters are in the Democratic camp.

      • burqa January 5th, 2015 at 6:57 am

I like them because they are likeable.
I support them because they deserve to have their country reestablished and because when I see the hatred for Jews here it looks just like the hatred for them I read in history where they were persecuted in country after country leading up to and including the Holocaust.
When the country of Israel was founded they asked for peace and were given war by the Arabs.
If the Arabs had also sought peace, the Palestinians would have had a country for over 60 years.

I’ve also supported the Palestinians’ wish for a country, but they have not shown any desire for peace nor have they been willing to compromise even when given over 90% of their demands. When they were given autonomy they squandered the opportunity and show no ability to run a nation-state. When they elected terrorists to lead them, they lost even more support from me.
They just aren’t ready for prime time.

I agree. Israel feels free to throw their weight around now; now that they can use The USA as a club with which to beat the Palestinians. Take away that power, and you’ll see how quickly Israel becomes reasonable.

  6. burqa January 5th, 2015 at 6:49 am

The headline is wrong. The Israelis acted because the Palestinians sought to be seated on the World Court and haul the Israelis up on war crimes charges.
Here we have a group that has elected terrorists who are devoted to committing war crimes seeking position on a court where they will charge their victims with war crimes?
It’s right out of the sci-fi world of the old Soviet Union.

    • allison1050 January 5th, 2015 at 9:22 am

But Israel did commit war crimes.

      • burqa January 5th, 2015 at 9:55 am

If they did they should be held responsible. As I’ve said many times, both sides have dirty hands.
But it’s a matter of degree, also.
One thing that drives me nuts! nuts! nuts! on this one is how people line up automatically on one side or t’other and point out what the other side did only, then turn around and act as if the other side isn’t looking at both sides, even though that’s what they themselves are doing.
Again, the Palestinians went and elected leaders from groups dedicated to committing war crimes who seek to do everything they can to maximize civilian casualties, whereas the Israelis have at least made efforts, significant efforts, to reduce civilian casualties. No, they haven’t been perfect at it, but they tried.

One thing the Arabs suffer from is being propagandized by a false stereotype of Jews as being weak even though they’ve been kicking Arab butt for over 60 years. But war and terrorism is the only path the Arabs have any interest in.
Their only concessions have been to cut back on attacks on civilians – that’s it.
        * The Israelis have given the Sinai back.
        * They gave the Palestinians autonomy in Gaza.
        * They gave them autonomy in the West Bank.
        * They’ve freed hundreds of prisoners, including many convicted terrorists.
        * They agreed to over 90% of their demands to return to the pre-1967 butt-whuppin the Israelis put on them, but have the Palestinians and their Arab sponsors reciprocated?
        No.

You don’t really want to talk about the past 60 years dear unless you know the historical end of how that country even came into existence and what the British created country filled with European Jews beginning with the end of WWll and moving forward to annexing land that was NOT theirs to begin with. Go read a few books or make Google/Wikipedia your new friends then come back to this thread dear. I almost forgot to mention that you could if you want to scroll up to the section block called More Articles From Liberaland 1st. You’re welcome.

I know the history quite well, well enough to not say that Balfour was only 60 years ago.
If we’re going to go to WWII, we can’t leave out the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, can we? You know, Hitler’s pal. The two of them cavorted together hither and yon during the war. He brought in Nazis to save the day for the Arabs, and tried to kill 250,000 civilians by poisoning wells. I have the details (meanwhile the Jewish Brigade was fighting on our side. The Arab Brigade was formed to fight on the side that came in second place).
I’m quite willing to discuss the Muslim Brotherhood, too and the PLO, PFLP, PFLP-GC, Black September, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Abu Nidal Organization, – oh and let’s not forget Imad Mughniya, can’t leave him out, can we? He was the mastermind of the 3 bombings of the Marine barracks and U.S. embassy in Lebanon that killed hundreds of Americans and was a high-ranking member of Force 17 as well, you know.
Terrorism and espionage are the subject of a research project of mine I’ve been working on for nearly 20 years. My source file has over 1,000 sources of reference for my notes, found in over 900 files. Among those sources are over 150 books.
If you don’t think the Jews have any claim to their homeland, then where would you expel them to, if you were king and could decide?

But don’t think I haven’t noticed your reluctance to address the points I made. Should I take that as a concession of them all?
After a while I tire of the keep-bringing-up-new-things game in order to avoid a point-counterpoint discussion.

Oh, and please don’t take it personally if I decline your suggestion to make Google/Wikipedia my friend. I delight in sending others to try playing Google catch-up. It’s a loser’s game. That said, if you can come up with the end of the Deininger-Schaeffer chap, I’d be interested. I know he turned up in Australia, of all places, but how he ended up is one of those loose threads I’d like to tie up.
And so sorry, but I don’t trust a source that once said Brit former PM Tony Blair’s middle name is “Whoop-Dee-Do.” I go to the best sources myself, directly, instead of relying on someone else to do it for me, thank you very much.
Care to directly address the points in my post you originally responded to?

Ya just gotta keep up with the news burqa, I mean really.

          • burqa January 7th, 2015 at 9:49 pm

I cited a number of things that have been in the news. Some of them were in the news years ago. Rather than isolate an individual act, I prefer to take a larger slice of history and look for trends. Below, you seemed interested in discussing history, but when I agreed, you seem to be having second thoughts.

One news story I saw the other day was about an Israeli investigation of their soldiers suspected of committing war crimes in the recent war in Gaza.
I have not seen stories of Palestinians being investigated or being put on trial for trying to commit mass murder by launching rockets into cities.
Perhaps you can enlighten me on that front…..

Israel, the Dick Cheney of Asia, is once again flexing its muscles. So what if “Operation Protective Edge” left more than 2100 Palestinians dead when they targeted houses full of families? The point is Israel won that conflict by losing only 66 soldiers and 6 civilians.
    .
Yep. They sure showed those Palestinians who wears the pants on THAT continent.
Maybe once the Palestinians understand how Israel’s best buds, the USA, slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children in an unnecessary war for profit, they’ll think twice about threatening to charge Israel with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
