We hear stories all the time about people with guns shooting themselves. And we hear stories all the time about police with guns shooting other people. But this is probably the first time in recent memory I’ve heard of a police officer shooting himself – and having it all caught on camera. The man in question,…

He saw the blurry, dark reflection in the stainless steel walls of the elevator reaching for a weapon, so NATURALLY he had to shoot…

I’m glad the man is alright. But he is definitely in the wrong line of work. He must have scared the hell out of that poor woman, first by pulling the gun out of his pocket right in front of her. He needs to find a new job, one that doesn’t require him to be around deadly weapons. One of our local cops came home from work one day, pulled his 9mm semi-auto pistol out of the holster, dropped the magazine, pointed the gun at his daughter and pulled the trigger. The gun went off and removed her ear lobe. It sounds absurd, but it is absolutely true. The guy didn’t understand how a semi-automatic pistol works. He dropped the magazine but there was still a live round in the chamber. And he violated a bunch of basic gun-safety rules – mainly, don’t ever point a gun at something you don’t intend to destroy. Ever. The guy was a complete idiot – yet he was still employed as a police officer in our city. Guns are accidents waiting to happen. Never assume that, because someone is wearing a uniform, he has common sense or knows what he is doing.

And I’m sure that shooting you refer to was listed as an “accident.” Actions by stupid people aren’t accidents.

What kind of perverted parent would even mock-shoot their own child?? That’s truly insane.

Thus why you never carry a loaded firearm with a round in the pipe and the safety, if there is one, off. Bad things happen.
