FreakOutNation: Saudi Blogger To Get 1,000 Lashes For Insulting Islam
[su_right_ad]From AnomalySaudi blogger Raif Baddaw was sentenced last May to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes, and will be publicly flogged for the first time after Friday prayers outside a mosque in the Red Sea coastal city of Jiddah, a person close to his case said Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Baddawi was sentenced on charges which accuse him of insulting Islam on a liberal online forum which he had created, and he was additionally ordered by the Jiddah Criminal Court to pay a fine of 1 million Saudi riyals, or about $266,000.
Rights groups and activists say the case is part of a wider clampdown on dissent throughout the kingdom. Officials have increasingly blunted calls for reforms since the region’s 2011 Arab Spring upheaval.
Badawi has been held since mid-2012, and his Free Saudi Liberals website is now closed. The case has drawn condemnation from rights groups.

China, India and other “emerging” economies all need Saudi oil. At the same time efficiancies increase and alternatives like solar and wind continue to take more energy market share. We are most diffently heading towards a post-petrolium era. Ha ha ha…

Sad. From what I’ve been observing for a few years, the GOP would like to have this control also, too! You are either with us or against us. Our religion or you pay the price. They are trying to take over our schools, our bodies, our Social Security, our health insurance, our uterus’s, our jobs and our thinking. They’ve taken over the media and spoon feeding us this crap constantly. Did you notice what they have tried to pull in Congress this week? The Koch’s have bought our country. I would like to see at least some public protest by Obama and the Congress against this type of cruel and unusual punishment of free speech by one of our most important “allies” in the Middle East. I think we’ve turned a blind-eye on the Saudi dictators (kings) for far too long and in the process lowered our own standards of human decency by doing so. I know there are a lot of important reasons to maintain US Saudi relations, $81 billion in trade, and of course the war against violent extremists in the region. We’re trying to balance a lesser evil. The question is, “How lesser evil” are they?

It’s not the Saudis, they denounced this action by ISLAMIST TERRORISTS and are then criticized by AP. Islam = Submit or Die and Obama is inviting MILLIONS into AMERICA!
