Jerry Boykin: Cops Can’t Go Into Dearborn Because Of Muslims
Former General Jerry Boykin, now with the Family Research Council, was speaking on Tony Perkins’ radio show.
After host Tony Perkins warned that Muslim-Americans are “not assimilating into the broader American culture” and instead seek to establish “closed communities” in states like Minnesota and Michigan, Boykin insisted that it has gotten so bad that the police now refuse to go into Dearborn, Michigan, except for in cases of emergency.
“Talk to the police in Dearborn, talk to the police in Detroit, and ask them how often they go into Dearborn and the reality is it’s more on an emergency basis than it is for any kind of routine police activities there,” Boykin said. “We have the same problem here, by not assimilating these people, we are creating the same kind of situation that France and Britain and much of Europe has.”…
Dearborn has been the focus of many right-wing conspiracy theories which typically center around the myth that the city is ruled according to Sharia law. Boykin once said that Dearborn could be easily confused with Damascus.
Dearborn, of course, is not under Sharia law, as the city’s mayor politely explained to Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle when she made that claim in 2010.[su_center_ad]

I’m just going to throw this out there and say maybe the people in the community don’t commit any crimes and that they don’t want the police killing them when they’re outside w/a skeery looking rake, caulking gun, or portable drill in their hand. IDK

But this did not occur in Dearborn, but in London. The Muslim community in Michigan is significant, but so are the Sikh’s and Catholics. The Muslim’s are not planning a coup to rule the mighty kingdom of Dearborn.

That’s true, this isn’t in London, and I’d take anything said by a Right-wing nut with a huge pinch of salt, for instance, I’ve seen a story today where it’s been reported that Birmingham, UK is exclusively Muslim, and whites cannot go there – being from the UK myself, I know this to be nonsense.
My wider point was that this can – and does – happen in Western liberal democracies with large Muslim populations. Clearly not all Muslims are as extreme as the people trying to implement Sharia law on the streets on London (or wherever), and these people would be an embarrassment to the vast majority. However, a light needs to be shone on the areas where it does happen, so the problem can be tackled, not least by the community/religion/culture in which it originates.

I don’t understand how people like Angle, Boykin and even Perkins can be allow such talk. Feeding the fear and bias of the uneducated and uninformed has a very real impact on this city, and this it’s ability to rebound economically. It’s essentially slander.

My daughter lived in Dearborn.
Their children go to school with ours.
We shop at the same stores.
We eat at the same restaurants.
It’s really a melting pot.
Much different than 30-40 years ago when
Dearborn was ALL White.
The cops in Dearborn seemed to have
1 purpose only, make sure there were
NO BLACKS there!!

Yes, someone who actually knows something about Dearborn. Dearborn’s infamous mayor Orville Hubbard who rained for 36 years back in the 1940’s through 1970’s was known for barring Blacks from moving into Dearborn. That was the true disgrace of Dearborn, Michigan. Yes, you do see women wearing burkas, otherwise it is a normal suburban American city.
What is misunderstood is that most of the Arab-Americans in the area are not Muslim but are Christians, such as the Chaldeans and Maronites.
