There are few people in this country today whose careers are near unimpeachable; what blanket honor many professions once had has been tainted by compromise, corruption and general harm. Police and politicians, teachers and soldiers, even many scientists and doctors have fallen from the limelight of default respect. These days, it’s only those who truly get…

May he always be remembered as a good surgeon and man…may his killer always be remembered as akiller xtian

    • burqa January 21st, 2015 at 11:51 pm

Would you say that if the murderer had been a “killer atheist”?

      • tracey marie January 21st, 2015 at 11:51 pm

If it was an issue, yes I would.

        • burqa January 22nd, 2015 at 12:21 am

What would make it an issue for you in those 3 cases?

      • tracey marie January 21st, 2015 at 11:54 pm

why did you edit to include ridiculous non religous straw men arguments?

      • Jack E Raynbeau January 21st, 2015 at 11:56 pm

He wasn’t an atheist so it’s not an issue.

        • burqa January 22nd, 2015 at 12:21 am

re-read the question. Note the word that falls between “that” and “the.”

      • Dwendt44 January 22nd, 2015 at 12:39 am

Perhaps it was the hypocrisy of a ‘god fearing christian’ and killing for what ever reason that gets peoples dander up. Muslim haters often criticize Islam as a religion of peach, then excuse christians when they do the same.

        • bpollen January 22nd, 2015 at 3:36 am

A religion of peach! I LOVE it!

  2. Budda January 21st, 2015 at 10:43 pm

    What a waste.

  3. Wayout January 21st, 2015 at 11:25 pm

Did the killer claim to kill for Jesus? Of course not, quite unlike Muslims who clam the they are doing Allah’s will.

    • Shades January 21st, 2015 at 11:28 pm

Oh, well. That makes it ok, right? WTH is wrong with you? A man is murdered by a crazy man and you try to make this about Muslims?

      • burqa January 21st, 2015 at 11:48 pm

        It’s nuts.
This is about a murderer and the OP doesn’t show anything that connects his faith to the murder, it’s just a gratuitous inclusion to reflect Alan’s bias.
Obviously it has nothing to do with Islam, either. Had the murderer been a Muslim, Alan would not have included it the same way.
Like some other people around here, he’s inconsistent like that…….

        • tracey marie January 21st, 2015 at 11:51 pm

that is untrue burqa, you seem to have an issue with Alan yet you continue to post here and scold everyone

          • burqa January 21st, 2015 at 11:58 pm

            I give my opinion.

            Ever hear Alan’s show?

Ever hear him talk about hanging around with people who have different views than him and how awful he thinks it would be to be around people who agreed with him all the time?

The fact is, on most issues Alan and I agree. When I was a regular caller to his show, much of the time it was to give support from my study of history to various points he was making.

Yeah, I speak out against bigotry.
I don’t like it when African Americans are targeted by bigots and I speak out against it.
I don’t like it when gays are targeted by bigots and I speak out against it.
I don’t like it when Muslims are targeted by bigots and I speak out against it.
I don’t like it when immigrants are targeted by bigots and I speak out against it.
I don’t like it when Christians are targeted by bigots and I speak out against it.
People around here only object in the last case. On the other ones most of us pretty much agree.

          • Bunya January 22nd, 2015 at 3:39 pm

Pay no attention to Burqa. His “quit persecuting Christians” crusade usually ends after the holidays. This year, he’s dragging it out longer than usual. However, his “everybody but me is a bigot” campaign can last all year round.

          • Candide Thirtythree January 22nd, 2015 at 4:53 pm

            hahahaha!

          • tracey marie January 22nd, 2015 at 5:43 pm

I like Burqa, sometimes the scolding and blind defence of of christians is annoying. I see you know him/her better then I do. This is a yearly thing from him/her, sad to hear

          • burqa January 23rd, 2015 at 10:06 pm

I like you too, tracey marie.
I think you misunderstand where I’m coming from. What I object to is those around here who are obsessed with Christian and have a view of all of them that is not supported by easily verifiable facts, at least where they live.
Yeah, we have some kooks, but in no way do they represent the group as a whole. Any group that large is going to have plenty of crazies that can be found. It would be one thing if this was recognized, but it is not. The distinction is often made with Muslims, immigrants or minorities.
Just about every day I encounter Christians who are doing great things in the community to serve those in need. This seems to bother certain people. Too bad for them that there are so many wonderful people in the world.
Tracey marie, if you ever find yourself in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area and have a few days I would be pleased to introduce you to these marvelous people so you can see what they are doing for yourself. Some I would introduce you to are so devoted to these efforts they have little or no time for anything else.
I don’t know about this “blind defense” you speak of. In this thread and others I have no problem clubbing whatever kook is the subject. My problem is with the bigots who seem intent on pursuing a false stereotype. So that is what I address.
Since some of these people object to the same sort of bigotry aimed at immigrants, Muslims, gays or minorities, I challenge them to be consistent. I try to be and you’ll find me defending those groups, too.
I am a man, by the way.

          • tracey marie January 23rd, 2015 at 10:09 pm

As an atheist I do not have a good view of any religion. Happy to know we are okay.

        • Wayout January 22nd, 2015 at 12:00 am

The story did indeed include a reference to a gun and a Bible.

          • burqa January 22nd, 2015 at 12:07 am

Wayout: “Did the killer claim to kill for Jesus? Of course not,”

Wayout: “he story did indeed include a reference to a gun and a Bible.”

What the hell are you trying to say?

          • fahvel January 22nd, 2015 at 11:48 am

don’t get in a tizzy, he has no idea what he is talking about or at the least, has no idea how to express the rot in his mind.

        • Candide Thirtythree January 22nd, 2015 at 4:45 pm

It is just that people are always trying to pull that BS about Christians being so much better than everyone else but they are not and a lot of time they are worse.

      • Wayout January 22nd, 2015 at 12:04 am

Because the writer tried to make it about his Christianity, as if people are killing in the name of Christianity. Only Muslims are killing in the name of their religion these days and I wanted to remind you libs of that.

        • burqa January 22nd, 2015 at 12:19 am

This is the kind of insanity I see over and over, and what I suspect may be the reason behind the rise in anti-Christian bigotry tolerated on the Left.
Somehow, people think if you’re against one side it automatically means you favor their opponents. Not only that, but it is presumed you will think the opponent is faultless.
So, to take an example, if one speaks out against something the Palestinians do, the wacked-out thinking hold that must mean you support everything the Israelis do. Continuing on this theme, the warped thinking figures that if someone takes a position critical of the Palestinians, the rebuttal to that point is to raise a separate point on a separate issue where the Israelis are to blame.

          Thus we see Wayout’s reasoning.

But before you laugh, we have the same thing on the Left. When the gang from FON arrived, I put up a post that mentioned I was a Christian. Immediately I was presumed to be a far Right tea partier and was so accused.
It appears to me that since a segment of the Right are fundamental Christians, the wacked-out logic holds that the Left must be anti-Christian, despite tha fact that a huge percentage of the Democratic Party are Christians and the political Left has always had a large contingent of believers who were often in the forefront of major issues, such as the American Revolution, the abolitionist movement, the civil rights movement and the anti-war movement.
If it wasn’t so important, I’d like to see their response should all the people of faith abandon the Democratic Party and vote Republican. There wouldn’t be anything left. The Democratic Party would be finished.

          • Carla Akins January 22nd, 2015 at 5:20 am

No, Burqa we did not. You immediately complained about the atheist and agnostics discrediting anyone of faith and took it as a personal attack. People can believe different than you without it being personal, and faith can still be the underlying reason for unreasonable actions like the murder of Dr Tiller. Crazy can be of any religion or political party, but the religious like to use it as an excuse for the crimes they commit.

        • Shades January 22nd, 2015 at 12:39 am

Yeah, because those crusades never happened. Nobody ever killed in the name of Christianity.

        • MR. RIGHT January 22nd, 2015 at 1:06 am

Why isn’t this Obama’s fault? Everything else is.

Anders Breivik slaughtered 77 people in Norway to further his
anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, and pro-“Christian Europe” agenda as he
          stated in his manifesto.

    • bpollen January 22nd, 2015 at 3:29 am

Yeah, I always thought murder-suicides were doing it backwards.

  5. burqa January 22nd, 2015 at 12:31 am

It’s bad enough that someone was murdered, but even worse when it’s someone who did so much to save other’s lives.

  6. MR. RIGHT January 22nd, 2015 at 1:05 am

Well, now that he’s dead, we find out what a great doctor he was.
Heckuva way to get some credit.

  7. rg9rts January 22nd, 2015 at 5:32 am

Pasceri was a long term loose cannon..RIP Doc..

  8. Bunya January 22nd, 2015 at 2:23 pm

We can’t have doctors, life savers, speaking out against the evils of gun violence now, can we? It doesn’t portray the NRA in a very attractive light. Luckily, they have their saviors – unbalanced psychotics who are allowed to conceal carry.
