When President Obama noted that he wasn’t running again during his State of the Union Address, Republicans began to applaud. But then the president said, ” I know, because I won both of them.” So, he had a comeback to GOP snark. But, suddenly, it wasn’t so funny anymore, and Obama was attacked for being, well, Obama, as relayed by Anomaly:

Obama said, “I have no more campaigns to run.”

Naturally, Republicans cheered in anticipation of the end of Obama’s term.

But then Obama remarked,: “I know because I won both of them.”

Congressional Democrats stood up and applauded.

Here are some of the fine, family-values responses:

Wasn’t it Ted Cruz who recently asked, “Would it kill Republicans to crack a joke?” Or to understand one?

of all the immature and hateful sh’t they’ve pulled since ’08 against this man, and to applaud when he said, “I have no more campaigns to run.,” and for him to throw that applaud in their faces has their ignorant heads spinning. he put these children in their places and shut their asses up. I LOVED IT!!! damn how they quickly forget.

If they had not applauded when Obama stated he would not be running for office again, he never would have reminded them he won the last two. They brought that cunning reply on themselves

Right, I originally thought it was unnecessary for Obama to point that out, but I missed the part where people were clapping at “I have no more campaigns to run”… Still, he could have taken the higher road, especially since he was in the middle of talking about how both sides should try to work together.

I liked this SOTU other than that.

they have been saying b.s. throughout and he ignored them, they should have not applauded like children and he put them in their place with truth, i found no problem with it. they have not wanted to work with him since ’08 and said they wouldn’t. they are the ones that have refused to take any higher road. they should just eat it and deal with it.

sometimes, the only way to deal with surly, rude malcontents is to give them a dose of their own medicine. For 6 years the President has taken the high road and in return has received nothing except more and more crude disrespect. About time the President gave as good as he gets.

I say, well done Mr. President on all fronts.

And don’t forget, this is the same crowd who are the ones
who, as former Sen. George Voinovich goes on record telling … “If Obama was for it, we had to be against it. “He [McConnell]
wanted everyone to hold the fort. All he cared about was making sure Obama could never have a clean victory.”

And had a meeting at the Caucus Room with Frank Luntz, and senior GOP members on the very day of the inauguration, 2009 to work out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to
try to ensure he would not be re-elected.

Hence, Cap and Trade went from being “market solutions” when Republicans promoted it to “anti businesses Cap and Tax” when Obama shunned his base and reached across the aisle to promote a policy that REPUBLICANS had supported in the past.

And healthcare insurance mandates went from being “personal responsibility” to a “government takeover of healthcare” when Obama signed it.

    El Kris
Why can’t we have Ron Paul & Ross Perot ticket? That would be fun.

    Gary Turnau
@El Kris That isn’t legal anymore – they both believe in the US Constitution.

Even as someone who often disagrees with the man, I thought that was hilarious. Touche, good sir! Touche!

When he did that, I jumped out of my seat, clapped and yelled. I was so happy he finally gave it back to these shysters, and these “concerned citizens” claim President Obama was being a “self fulfilling prick”. Witch needs to take it cause it seems like she has been voting for them (self fulfilling pricks) in the last two Presidential Elections.

  15. Jimmy Fleck January 22nd, 2015 at 11:30 am

After the 2014 midterms I would think the Democrats would clap when Obama says he had no more campaigns to run. Democrats couldn’t get away from Obama fast enough last November and they still got shellacked in the elections.

  16. Aunt Pee January 23rd, 2015 at 9:19 am

This president has put up with more hate, threats, horseshit and demonization than any other chief executive in history. Republicans should be grateful he didn’t show at the SOTU with a flame thrower!
