[su_right_ad]How about they just stop talking about rape and childbirth. THV11 reports:

A West Virginia lawmaker has apologized for saying that while rape is awful, a child that results from a rape is beautiful.

The comment from state Rep. Brian Kurcaba was made Thursday when members of the West Virginia House of Delegates debated a bill to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The bill does not allow for an exemption in cases of rape.

“For somebody to take advantage of somebody else in such a horrible and terrifying and brutal way is absolutely disgusting,” Kurcaba said. “But what is beautiful is the child that could come as a production of this.”

Kurcaba, a Republican from Monongalia, issued a statement Friday apologizing to “anyone who took my comments about the sanctity of human life to mean anything other than that all children are precious regardless of circumstances.”

I’m afraid the depth of his cluelessness can never be reached within his lifetime. I find it horrifying that someone in an official capacity has so little grasp for those in their charge. And more than a little frightening.

Maybe he meant Todd Akins’ legitimate rape. So sorry you have to share a last name with that moron.

I haven’t thought of Devo in probably 20 years…they were great.

It’s okay, I married into it – I’m not related to him (thank goodness)

Even if you were, you could console yourself with the fact that you can pick your spouse, you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your relatives.

At some point we have to quit dismissing them for their stupidity. How stupid can this person be to not remember how Akins words where used to destroy any chances he had to be elected to office. This person meant every word he said, in other words, he cannot comprehend the fact that women do not like or enjoy being raped. He needs to be removed from office due to the fact he has proven he will not fairly represent half of his constituents.

They are still under the impression that rape has something to do with sex. Not that sex is simply the mechanics for an assault in an attempt to dominate and strike fear in their victims.

      • Larry Schmitt February 8th, 2015 at 2:49 pm

I point that out to people every chance I get, whenever they suggest it has to do with sex, and not violence and control. If it were about sex, 9 year old girls and 90 year old women wouldn’t get raped.

Am I losing it or did he apologize, then say it again?

        • Mike February 8th, 2015 at 5:49 pm

Thx, I thought it was just me.

          • Anomaly 100 February 8th, 2015 at 5:51 pm

He offered up a pretty crappy apology.

          • whatthe46 February 8th, 2015 at 6:01 pm

because its not an apology. they don’t know how to apologize, especially when they actually MEAN what they say. its always just a play on words to “shut” people up. its never sencere.

Hell no. He’s in West Virginia. That’s a pretty scary place. I’m in a highly diverse city in Virginia where there aren’t too many arsehole politicians.

you never know who he rubs elbows with in the hillbilly

You’re not losing it, like all good Republicans he framed his non-apology to further insult.

I recently had an operation that could be considered to only affect males, I’d hate to have women deciding if I could have that operation. (and no, it wasn’t life threatening)
Why do so many republican male legislators fail to see the parity…?

    • Suzanne McFly February 8th, 2015 at 2:30 pm

They harken back to the good ol days when women where owned.

  4. tracey marie February 8th, 2015 at 2:35 pm

Once again the goptp relegates women to the status of an incubator who must carry the spawn from an animal that did unspeakable things to her. Mind your business goptp men and women and start worrying about what you may do to help the actual children, elderly, vets and the poor who need our countries help.

Children are precious. Rape is horrible. Trying to find the silver lining in rape is reprehensible. I hereby revoke his membership from all sentient life.

How could anyone with a conscience or compassion say such a thing? Rape is a brutal attack on a human being. Those who think it is not and that it a “beautiful act” should experience it and then comment.
