The Baltimore County Police Department claimed the off-duty officer said he “was pointing the weapon in the direction of the balcony” when “his weapon discharged accidentally,” noted The Baltimore Sun.

The 14-year-old boy was hit in the shoulder by the gunshot, but his injury was not life threatening.

The off-duty officer has been placed on administrative duty while an investigation into the shooting continues.

He needs a job where he’s not near dangerous weapons. Like cleaning toilets.

As someone with a history of accidental discharges I need to recuse myself from the discussion.

It’s a shame, another idiot without proper gun training.

    • Larry Schmitt February 11th, 2015 at 11:55 am

But that’s not supposed be true of cops.

Another well trained, mature police officer protecting us from bad guys. Oh, wait, never mind.

I don’t know which is more disturbing, the fact that he’s so poorly trained or that he’s so easily panicked. I fail to see either as an asset.

why in the hell did he pull a gun on a kid anyway? and why was his finger on the trigger? that’s not an accidental shooting. thank goodness he’s a bad shot. geez. get paid little man, here’s your college fund.

and the kid may be charged, tresspassing is all they have and will use it as an excuse to exonerate the cop. Who accidentally shots a gun, do not put your finger on the trigger or even point a gun unless you know you have to use it
