[su_center_ad]Wouldn’t a simple, “please don’t do that again” be enough, if the town really wants to be that dispassionate? FreakOutNation has the story.

David Parton, 76, was arrested in the town of Gainesville for breaking an ordinance against feeding strays and refusing to pay $900 in fines, according to MyFoxNY.

“My responsibility was simply to do what God said,’keep feeding them’,” Parton said.

Legal assistance was offered by the advocacy group Alley Cat Allies.

“This is a truly disheartening miscarriage of justice,” saied Becky Robinson, the group’s president. “Compassion should not be criminalized, but that is exactly what this man was arrested for—simply providing food for cats.”[su_csky_ad]

Well, it seems you should be OK and not have to pay the fine, and maybe get the city to pay you cause they violated you God/Jesus clause. as you was just keeping with your religion and all.

Feeding farrel cats is a nuisance if you’ve ever had a neighbor who did it.

(Or worse, we had an old lady in our city who was feeding the bears despite repeated warnings to stop!)

But jail time? Or even a $900 fine? Absurd.

I suspect that this town is in florida – the cats there should be fed to the gators – kindness and compassion be damned!

I take it the commenters here are not cat people. I’d be in trouble in that town…

      Cat lover guy here!
Unvaccinated stray cats can be quite a problem, especially in an urban setting.
Where I live out in the country, there were a lot of feral cats back in the woods, and the cat in my avatar was one of them.
The feral cat problem was largely taken care of when nature sought her balance. Foxes moved in and knocked the feral cat population down to just a few.

That’s nice! I have a few cats, not many. But have guests for dinner every night. A couple of them. I vaccinate them all.
