British actress Elaine Rhodes was trying to “nail” a death scene and worked so hard to get into character it landed her in the hospital.

The British actress, who plays the role of Lily Darwin, a gangster’s mother in the film “C.O.O.L.I.O.,” is said to have spent the day on set at her son’s deathbed.

The next morning, the 53-year-old actress was supposedly rushed to St. George’s Hospital in southwest London with a life threatening condition that was later diagnosed as “broken heart syndrome” or takotsubo cardiomyopathy — a temporary heart condition that affects people who have suffered intense grief or emotional stress…

The mother of four said she thought she was just doing her job by intensely focusing on the enormity of grief one would feel from losing a child, especially if it were one of her own.

“I pretty much spent the whole day dying to get the take right,” she added.

But the emotions she exerted while shooting the scene seemed to have had a great impact on her physical well being even after leaving the set.

I would much rather get paid for my art than die for it. Maybe that’s why I have a hard time getting paid for my art?
